So I've heard the story is actually better in the NDS demake of the first two games, and I really wish it was fan translated by now.

I wasn't a big fan of the first game, I hear the 2nd is even worse and while 3 is actually great you need to have played the first two.

I mean kinda, but quite frankly 3 skips over so much of the stuff that they were planning to do in their initial 6-game series idea that even if you played 2 and 3, you'd still be somewhat lost because an obvious fast forward on the plot and characters suddenly happened.

It's pretty hilarious but 3 really does make up for it with the improved battle system and general performance/mechanics enhancement. It'd be worth it to play 1 and 2 if only to enjoy how much better 3 becomes compared to those 2 games battle system.

Insane you might ask? How you might wonder? Especially if you knew that Xenosaga 2, a ps2 game, came on a whopping 2 discs (Not even actual long games like FF 12/10 came on 2 discs)

Why it's simple, because nothing actually happens in Xenosaga and there's barely any gameplay or exploring of note.

Take the first Xenosaga. Game opens up on a spaceship and the party are heading out to some big major city. So you think oh, the game will probably open up and "get good" after we get to that big city they all mention, like how FF 7 opens up after you leave Midgar.

Nope, the game ends literally right as the spaceship reaches that place they were all going to. It would be like FF 7 ending as soon as you leave Midgar on disc 1 and there were no discs 2 and 3.

Then you have Xenosaga 2. This game is somehow even shorter than 1 and yet it comes on 2 discs, with even less happening during your time in "the big city"

Just always thought it was funny since before actually playing the Xenosaga games, I used to see this as an impressive feat 10 years ago and was very confused how they managed it

I was initially thinking video game while watching the movie, but now agree with all the posts saying that it could have been a TV series, I'd watch that. It could have been Avatar levels of quality with some extra refining.

The fact that it delves into unexplored cultures and brings them to the Hollywood spotlight is one of the better missions Disney has undertaken with its past few movies.

What's so special about Persona 5's menu? Anyway most menus pre gen 7's tiny text are good, but if they look like god of war 2018's crappy menu with its abysmally tiny text, then not good at all.

I don't ask much for a menu, just have it be larger than 20pt font and legible on a TV screen, not just a pc moniter screen that's inches away from the dev's face

I haven't seen Maleficent either but after reading a summary I felt like Wicked was the basis for that movie's entire premise.

In Wicked's case, if I understand the plot right, I can definitely see the wizard as the bad guy especially if I'm thinking of the hammy James Franco version.

I'd still be interested in seeing it. But surprised that it didn't also go through the "making a Hollywood movie out of it" treatment like say Mamma Mia. Unless that cheesy 2013 Oz movie was meant to be that.

Also I really think Persona 3 is special for coming out at the peak/height of the anime craze and popularity in the US. So much so that the game basically has all the archetypes you could think of, from the "love interest" type to the ice queen to the robot, the dog, the outcast, the jealous rival, the cool guy, and I particularly like Ryoji. The mysterious transfer student type, and he's so damn cute, I totally was shipping him and Aeigis between you and me, would have liked to see their interactions more.

Oh but can we talk about how interesting it is that the 3 games all used primary colors in their theme/aesthetic? Blue in Persona 3, yellow in Persona 4, and red in Persona 5. That's such a nifty coincidence and it makes me wonder what they'll choose next for Persona 6. I'm thinking/hoping maybe green since it's an honorary primary color and all.

Hmm I think objectively Persona 3 might be the best of the trilogy, subjectively speaking. It's the only one I still liked on replays. Meanwhile Persona 4 G made me almost hate the game, when I previously loved vanilla even more than P3.

Persona 5 seems to combine the comedic aspects of 4 with serious tones of 3. It's also the most improved gameplay wise which goes without saying since it released nearly a decade after the first 2. It even combines dungeon designs, where there's both a tartarus esque place in mementos, and individual castles as seen in palaces, which were much more thought out than p4's dungeon design.

But quite frankly? I did not like the characters in P5 at all. In P4 we had the Scooby gang, and they actually felt like friends. In P3 it made sense that they were initially cold to each other, and the dorm actually had a more college dorm feel to it where they eventually warm up to each other. But with P5 I never got a sense of camaraderie or closeness, they felt more like work acquaintances or something. I didn't even have a favorite like I did with the other 2, I was not happy with my choices at all.

I mean... it was okay. I wanted to like the movie because it seemed to actually embrace silly things like the talking mind caterpillar and I like the actor Mark Strong.

But it was tonally weird and all over the place, and I was kinda expecting better. It sometimes felt like it was trying to be comedic like Deadpool, but wasn't really funny, and if it was trying to be heartwarming with the underdeveloped orphan family thing it was a little too cornball to hit any of the right notes.
