Sakurai only said that they didn't do rollback because the side effects were too big, a lot of people have speculated that they would have to turn down the graphics to make it possible. Here is a good thread from Fizzi (who made rollback for Melee):

There is a great video in there about netcode if anyone is interested how it works from a technical perspective, and how hard it is to implement rollback. Fizzi has the best point though, it would be a massive undertaking for Nintendo to implement rollback and would cost a ton of money/time debugging. Why would they spend all those resources when the game is already one of the best selling games on Switch, instead of adding new characters?

Melee has good netcode because it is a waaaaaaay smaller and simpler game compared to Ultimate. The amount of data that has to constantly be stored and refreshed for rollback netcode in Melee is much, much smaller than Ultimate.

Slippi/Melee is also ran on PCs, so they aren't limited by the power of the console. The Switch is pretty weak compared to the other consoles this gen.

The only way Ultimate could get rollback is if they drastically lower the graphics quality and frame rate in 1 v 1 fights, but Nintendo and Sakurai are extremely prideful, and want the game to be shown the best it possibly can be at all times.

The knuckle effect also occurs on totally smooth balls too, its not just the seams. Air usually flows around a ball in a smooth laminar flow, however once the ball reaches a certain speed with no spin the air flow becomes turbulent: violent/unpredictable flow. This causes the ball to have different air speeds flowing around the ball, make it move w/ a lift force. Knuckleballs in baseball are so crazy because they are affected by both phenomena.

Dont think of it as the air grabbing the ball, the forces are much more like an airplane wing. Airflow is slower on one side of the ball than the other, causing air pressure to be lower on one side, causing a force to push the ball to that side, AKA Lift, just like a wing.

I have no issues with his explanation for not giving Snoke a backstory, and I thought Snoke getting cut down like that was actually pretty great.

However his "pushing the main 4 characters forward" goal was a big failure for the movie, Kylo in particular. He was not set up at all to be a threatening villain, but that is what we were supposed to believe at the end of the movie.

The first half of the movie was pretty good, when we got all the talk about how the Jedi were failures, not the heroes we believed, they didn't have a monopoly on the light side of the force, etc. Also the Empire wasn't the answer either, Kylo and Rey were going to start their own thing, break the dichotomy of light vs. dark side. But then all of a sudden the movie just pulls a full 180 out of nowhere and actually Kylo just wants to be emperor, The Jedi are actually good, the entire 90 minutes leading up to this meant nothing, a huge bland return to the status quo.

It is OP in Melee, can kill from 0%-10% in a lot of situations, plus has a lot of easy, guaranteed setups into it.

It is much more balanced in Ultimate though, usually need about 55%-70% damage to kill. It has a couple setups, but they are a lot harder to pull off consistently than Melee.

The action scenes are great. The story and plot are absolutely terrible though. There is pretty much nothing tying all the different fantasy storylines together. This was the movie that really tipped me off that Snyder can be a great director, as long as he doesn't have too much creative control. The movie went off the fucking rails w/ the plot and "symbolism."
