What I don't get is why anyone thinks there has to be only one motivation.

Right. So the only possible option is shooting at everything. Except like I said in my post, other cops in other countries have time to consider those options and apprehend people like this without guns. Are American cops that inept and unable to think under stress? Thats a problem.

so what was the cop hoping to do then? If this guy wasnt going to stop anyway then firing at him or the car would just cause an accident, still putting the infant at risk. There are other options that should have been considered. Even in the states theyre able to end high speed chases without guns. Why are you acting like it was the only possible way here?

What I mean is there are other ways to get him. Consider all risks before jumping immediately to the gun. So what if they shot him as he was driving? That still puts the child at risk. This notion that cops have to resort to their gun to stop every suspect in every situation is asinine. Cops all over the world can handle these situations without doing that, but apparently in America its the only way.
