I mean there are historical records but those are spotty at best and all matter is impermanent so those are eventually gone as well. I mean how many people have lived an entire life and learned things and found love and suffered through all the pain and sadness of life but also grown because of it, that are now just some statistic in some history book about the estimated population in a region in some ancient time period. Or not even that. People that have lived out entire lives only to have been completely forgotten and known by no one. Not just people either. How many cultures and languages have been just entirely lost? What epic wars have no trace of ever having happened? Fuck me what if it has happened to truly countless species and civilizations or entire universes. Will it be what happens to us? If it does will we even really have existed? Or will this entire collective experience of all life and awareness just be some inexplicable aberration in an endless nothingness of unending time. And if that is the case then are we just trying to stick around long enough as a species to find some loophole and persist? Is that what all of this is? I suppose nobody has any definitive answers. Plus they can do all the investigations they want into something that isnt real without really getting into trouble. But if they started doing that with actual instances of child trafficking or child abuse theyd have no idea what they were doing and would likely interfere with actual law enforcement in many cases.
