Lol nah, there's some real post-production trickery there.. the content/vocabulary of music in terms of theory might not be but the production is miles ahead in terms of what the studio can actually be made to use. The production of a song is so important that some people immediately get turned off by the fact it isn't clear or cut or there isn't enough body or presence to keep someones attention. In terms of rap, the old-school/new-school thing is a cherished thing but in Rock and Roll people just don't groove enough to it or just don't get it lol I think maybe somewhere down the line people got psychologically nerfed by the fact music plays through crappy speakers in a grocery store and associate the sound as background music as a result of older production values Who knows, I'm not a huge fan of new production 'values' (sans the actual trickery, that's cool how you can use all these things to morph and twist up a sound.. that 'up front' sound.. tends to only sound cool in metal and rap honestly Rock and Roll sounds lame with it honestly --- |
