Whose monetary gain?

The argument is always that the government is going to give a multi billion dollar deal to a drug company for "x" product. In this case, it's the vaccine, and clearly part of the compension will be straight profit for the company (which in turn can be given to directors, officers, researchers, etc.).

Another argument is that, in turn, a variety companies will provide doctors with compensation for utilizing specific treatments (in this case, the vaccine). The negative theory behind that is that doctor will then push specific treatments to patients regardless of if it is in the best interest of the patient (due to the compensation received).

So - companies rush through the vetting process (hand picking data, making it up/falsifying information) to get done first and earn large amounts of money. The product is therefore faulty, and the issue is compounded by doctors also getting compensation from the large companies to "push" bad products.

That's the thought process.

Additionally, vaccines are a product like anything else. Sure, the vetting process is much different than a car, electronics, etc., but people will use their experiences and generalize it towards everything.

So again, I don't think its fair to call people out who are cautious/in the middle ground. It's rational thinking, even if it turns out to be a little misplaced. Both extremes seem off, like usual. I don't think it's a complete ploy to control the public and make money, and I don't think there is zero risk (like any vaccine) in getting one.

I am not anti vax (I have my shots as do my children). I am on board with a Corona vax and will most likely be able to get it "early" if I want (if I am deemed an essential worker - I'm in a school, but I haven't looked into what I am classified as).

However, I think questioning the timeline is natural. People are going at this 24 hours a day, and the resources being utilized are tremendous. But to hear and see the speed at which this is taking place? Sure, I think any person has the right to be cautious. If the data supports it, yes, I will certainly get the vaccine. Things look good from preliminary results.
