I'm no expert on this but if you want something now, I still think Tesla Model 3/Y is the best if you are spending like 45k. If you are rich, the Porsche Taycan. I heard the new Ford Mach-E is pretty good, but good luck trying to buy one since I think the only made a few of them for this year (probably due to covid related supply issues). Some other options Chevy Bolt and Hyundai Kona EV.

In a few years, maybe they'll be more competition. I think quite a few manufacturers (like Toyota) are coming out with new EVs next year.

edit: also, go test drive a few of them yourself first.

Yes it was shamelessly stolen from reddit. But these earning reports are opportunities to flip for a quick profit if they do well right? So is there a place to listen live that's hassle free or what?

Generally, I find it better to play the run up to earnings for swing trading. If most expect a company to do well on the next earnings, buy a week or 2 before and the stock could have a nice run up into earnings. Sell right before the earnings release. A recent example of this is DIS. I expected that there might be a run up to earnings based on the past performance and Disney+ numbers rapidly growing, so I bought during the dip 2 weeks ago at $162 and the stock ran up into earnings to ~$190.

Also, sometimes it is better to wait until after earnings comes out and see where the stock is heading before getting in. You probably won't make as much, but it usually a safer play. Be careful with playing options for earnings as IV crush will make it difficult to profit unless the stock moves big.

Pre-market and after-hours trading is available Monday through Friday on days when the market is open. Pre-market trading is available from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. ET. After-hours trading is from 4:01 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET.

edit: actually that maybe Merrill Edge, I think they maybe different. Have to check.
edit 2: They are maybe just Merrill Edge now, both are under BoA so the policy probably the same. If you can't do extended hours currently, you may need to agree to some document on your account settings first or call them if you can't find it.

Newb question. Am I able to sell after the market closes? My lunch time at work is usually 1:30 California time and I work in a warehouse and cant monitor the market while I work.

What broker? My active trading account is with Schwab and I can buy and sell regular stocks (no options) at 7:00 am ET before open and until 8:00 pm ET after close. I also have Fidelity and I think they are the same hours as Schwab, but not 100% sure since I mainly use that account for my passive retirement investments (VTI, QQQ, VXUS, ect).

I'm using some of my free cash to buy non meme stocks for my long term investments since everything is down a good amount this week. Sold some cash secured puts for premium and if I get assigned I get cheaper shares of stuff I wanted anyways.

Yeah I really didn't understand people sitting on large gains "holding for the movement" instead of looking out for themselves during a pump and dump.

I said I would let the rest of my shares ride, and I will keep them even it goes to zero now, lol. It is a small position for me though and since I sold half of my shares before, I can't lose money on this play.

I just use Turbo Tax Premier and import from my brokers, it does everything for me (just double/triple check). Your broker should send you tax forms soon, if they haven't already. You should also be able to see the forms online in your account.

Timing the top is very tricky. The famous Volkswagen short squeeze in 2008 went up crazy high but came crashing back down after a day or 2 after the top iirc.

Generally for hugely speculative stuff like GME that goes up a bunch over a few days, it is a good idea to take some profit out. I like taking out enough to cover my initial investment cost (so you can't go negative) and letting the rest of the pure profit ride for a little longer to see where it goes.

I played a lot with stocks like AMD, ROKU, TSLA, TQQQ/SQQQ and various IPOs buying over $100k at a time and selling within a few minutes to an hour. I don't day trade much anymore, mostly swing trading (hold for a few weeks) and long term holds.
