Either way, we're hitting new peaks, every country is shutting down any travel to/from us. It's so bad that my colleagues were talking about how their children can't visit for christmas due to train closures from London to Scotland.

Shit sucks mayne

I think it has more to do with the UK government claiming to have found a new strain of Covid that spreads faster. I doubt it is the numbers themselves, because I know Canada didn't make any changes until yesterday, I believe.

Basic morality is common sense. Every culture on earth has rules against murder and stealing.

But does morality come from religion or something else?

Also, if morality is common sense, why do people still commit crimes against each other?

Simply put - we don't know where morality 'came' from. We know it is a social construct, but what causes us to know that murder is wrong, theft is wrong, etc? For the youngest people (children), they learn that breaking moral rules results in punishment - so ultimately in modern society, morals are 'taught' by our parents/caretakers through the use of negative/positive punishment or positive/negative rewarding.

It would be pretty easy to assume that religion had a role in morality - especially since most religions have similar codes and laws.

I've worked retail before and I've been helping a customer when another demands I help them find something. I would point them in the general direction, explaining I am dealing with another person. I never had anyone go to my boss about that - although that job was 90% service, my boss understood that some customers need to learn how things work. Some people just have no patience.

It would've taken 2 seconds to grab a cup - but the person being served at that moment may have been upset as well that someone thinks they 'deserve more attention' than them.

I think the most difficult part is discipline. I have a hard enough time when my clients are clearly avoiding visits and coming up with excuses - I can't confront them on it because I want them to learn the importance of the visits and I don't believe 'forcing' someone to do something is going to resolve in a positive situation. I feel that calling them out would create a greater rift and damage their connection to the children even more.

I don't want to go into management because I want to have a life outside of corporate work.
But yes, there are some bad managers as well.
I recently had a director who could talk a good talk, but when it came down to actually managing, all they knew how to do was ask why the work wasn't done yesterday and tell everyone to work harder. Glad when they went bye bye.

My supervisor is literally on call 24/7, 365 days a year unless he uses holidays. He is great at what he does though - he worked his way up from frontline work so he is a great resource, especially for debriefing, but I hate calling him on weekends. Technically, to some of my clients I make my self available close to 24/7 - but not to the level my supervisor is.

I did also have supervisors who were literally "do your job" and had no clue how to teach or coach - they were in their positions because they were 'friends' with other management.

At 32, with two vehicles, I am paying $150 with liability/comprehensive on both, collision on one, without windshield coverage on either. It costs more for the windshield coverage than getting a new windshield every year. Depending on where I go, I can have the windshields replaced twice per year without exceeding the windshield coverage 'quote.'

why not?

I'd say because appreciation (and depreciation) cannot be actively valued at cash value as both are perceived value rather than actual.

Just because something is 'worth' $100, doesn't mean it will sell for $100. Taxes should be based on actual cash value - if said product worth $100 sold for $50 or $200, it should be taxed at the actual rate it sold at.

Stocks are something that do appreciate or depreciate value quite fast. In the case of Bezos, it doesn't make sense to tax him based on a 'daily' change of worth.

It's a decent start

Net worth is not income.

He did not earn 13 billion dollars in one day. It would be impossible to tax that increase as it could also go down in an instant - it is based on stock value. The only way it would be 'fair' to tax him is when/if he sells stocks to tax on the value of what he sells.

That's also a piece of the problem but you could argue Marvle characters are pretty OP too. What Marvel does better is injecting common sense into their characters, something DC lacked because superheroes was a very foreign concept back then.

Eg. Iron Man is just rich Batman with more common sense so as to use tech instead of punching people.

Iron Man has personality disorders, addictions, etc. Yes, he is essentially Batman, but he has his own problems he faces.

Characters like the Hulk are essentially all powerful too - but they have struggles as well. It has nothing to do with how 'powerful' a character is, it's how 'flawed' they are as individuals. Almost every Marvel hero has severe flaws in their character that the reader/viewer can either relate to or understand.

This right here. Of the DC characters, Batman does well because he is incredibly flawed. I typically do not like DC in general, but Batman is one character I have no problems diving into learning more about. Characters like Superman are 'perfect' and are not very interesting as a result. So Superman can blow up the universe if he wanted? How does that make him fighting anyone an interesting story?

I actually kind of enjoyed the Justice League movie up until the point that Superman 'helped.' The 'team' was not perfect up until that point and actually had struggles they faced.

Psychiatry is a medical field that uses confirmed methods for treatment - psychology is more of a helping field that works toward further research and trying new methods.

I'd personally say that psychology is more of a science than psychiatry since there is more 'psychology' research being done than psychiatry.

Basically psychiatry = medicine and treatment, psychology = understanding and treatment

Basically, Bezos does not have $189 billion. He is worth that much. He probably realistically has less than 1% that he could actively spend without needing to sell assets. For example, in Amazon stock alone, he has $170 billion. That means outside of his Amazon shares, he has $19 billion. How much of that is tied up in his home, other investments, etc? Although he could probably pay more in taxes, he cannot 'safely' pay taxes on his net worth without having serious problems with Amazon.

I have a bachelor of science from a liberal arts college. But it's a science degree and it's different. Because the focus is more on science.

That would work best - particularly with a 'panel' interview. The problem is between both AA measures and racist 'structures' is that in both cases, the 'best' candidate can be missed due to issues relating to race. A blind panel interview would showcase the best person for a job without introducing race, sex, etc. into the mixture.

Of course, the human factor will ALWAYS have somewhat of a bias, regardless of how it is set up. Even AA in itself only serves to fill 'quotas' and doesn't actually really target the real problems of classism.
