the early ones were crap because the CDC sent out contaminated controls. right now though the PCR test has something like a 98% accuracy. its false positive rate is functionally 0, its inaccuracy comes from false negatives.

the problem is that PCR tests in the US have a turnaround time of something like 3 to 5 days. which means that by the time you've gotten your results you've likely started showing symptoms and have blown past the asymptomatic infectious stage.

My lab does same-day/next day results depending on what time of day the sample is received

In order to prove or disprove it, you'd have to demonstrate that our universe contains, or doesn't contain, some property that the "real universe" doesn't (or does). I'm working on a project for the federal government. They sent us more instruments than we need (or could even use) and send us more reagents than we need or could use. So we have a couple of perfectly usable instruments just sitting there collecting dust. Prolly close to $100,000 just sitting there. Then we regularly have reagents expire and have to discard them since they send us so damn much.

People who advocate "change" poll better, but the majority of options continue to be "more or the same" types. Additionally, those people are backed by the party. For instance, in my state's senate race, the DNC poured money into the campaign of a boring guy who was barely different than a republican. The two leftist women who had just a few thousand in their campaign funds beat him.

She has been in the hospital, sedated, and on a ventilator for 4 weeks now. She isn't really doing any better and I'm kinda not sure if she'll make it.
Her son was one of those "Eh, it doesn't kill most people so its being overblown" type.
We actually got into an argument about taking precautions 2 weeks before she caught it. He's still a Trump supporter though and his immediate family are blaming democrats for the virus for some reason.
Point is:
1. You won't feel "alright with that death rate" when it's your mom or other loved one fighting it.
2. Trump supporters gonna support Trump no matter what. His incompetence can literally take the life of one of their loved ones and they'll still follow him. It's a cult.

They certanly can work, and if their hours are cut they can either find a 2nd job, side hustle like uber/lyft rely on dependents benefits or some other means for getting by.
