No, it's not that simple. The full story presents a situation where the officer was presented with a certain unknown threat level and he reacted. He had to make a decision with just a few seconds to decide. I'm not a trained police officer. Personally, I would have liked to see him not shoot the guy, but the circumstances made it a difficult decision.

What happens if he did have a gun in the car and an officer got shot or killed instead? Police officers die too in the line of duty.

Yes, the point is that if he was white he probably wouldn't be shot. And apparently no other circumstances surrounding the incident matters.

Of course, even if you're a scumbag, it doesn't mean you should just get shot. So what happened? Well things started to go wrong when the man walked off to his car, with police telling him to stop.

Now, no one is saying that being defiant to police makes you worthy of being shot, but it is important to note a few things. A police officer on a scene, especially a potentially dangerous situation like a violated restraining order, needs to have control of as many variables as possible. When Blake defiantly walked away from them and opened his car door, it broke that control. Does he have a gun in the car? He had already admitted to having a knife on him. A police officer must then respond in a split second to what the potential/perceived threat factor is at that moment.

Did the police officer NEED to shoot Blake? I don't think so personally. I think he could have possibly handled it differently, but he had to make a gamble of if he had a gun in the car or not. If I try to pull him down and wrestle him to the ground, the known knife might come in to play. I could definitely see why he did it, even if I think he didn't have to. But one thing is certain is that if Blake wasn't defiant to the police's commands, none of this would've happened. Once again, that's not me saying that defiance justifies the shooting. It's me saying that often in these situations, its that defiance that is the first step down the path that eventually results in a fatal incident, often because control has been lost, and the threat level has risen.

I just think we need to look at these incidents on a case by case basis and not jump to conclusions based off of headlines.

So my Fall Mountain curse has finally been mysteriously broken. Got a front row and then a second row. On the one where I was second row, I got a bit of a cheap win. I had a flawless run but then of course got to the crown when it was high up. I was so anxious I jumped before the crown had lowered all the way. I thought for sure I fell, but the game said I won! It was funny because the image showed my character holding on to thin air with the crown floating above me. Maybe another latency thing? Either way, I'll take it!

I kinda hope they add a more advanced grouping system so I can primarily play against people like myself that never win instead of seeing a Peabody or Hotline Miami take it every time >.>

I kind of know how you feel. I do have 8 or 9 wins, so its at least something, but I do play a lot and I lose a lot in the finals. It is starting to get a little annoying to come in 2nd place to someone in a full robot suit or whatever, but at the end of the day they did better. I would enjoy Fall Mountain more if I wasn't always in the back row.

Though now that I think of it, I appear often enough in the front in the early stage races (with 40-60 people) that load time may not be it either. I just can't imagine it being a coincidence at this point. Sometimes the back row is only 1 or 2 people, and I'm still the one in the back. There's gotta be something going on there.

Maybe the first people to load into the stage are put in the front row, and the last people to load in, are put in the back row. So maybe it's a connection thing or a CPU thing.

This might actually make sense. It cannot be a coincidence at this point that I am LITERALLY always in the back row.

I'm actually relieved after reading this article. I remember in some behind the scenes clips from the avatar dvds, there were a few references to the creators being a bit tyrannical and kind of "their way or the highway."

Now, they created a masterpiece, so maybe they can be given leeway for that behavior, but it does allow for the opportunity for it all to go their heads and make them unagreeable to compromises that may not actually have a negative effect on the show.

With that aside, I kind of am on Netflix's side as far as their differing points. I wouldnt mind a somewhat different take on the avatar story. I don't think anyone wants to see just a complete "clip for clip" remake of the cartoon. I want to see something new, even if it is within the same story framework. And I don't mind if there is one or two white people in the cast, but I agree it shouldnt be whitewashed.

Watching some new coverage about how college campuses are dealing with coronavirus outbreaks due to parties and such.....I can say as a former college student I am not surprised by this at all. Nothing will stop college students from partying. I remember on my campus, Thursday nights were the big party night. It just so happened that someone had died one Thursday, it was alcohol related due to partying. The very next Thursday, everyone was making party plans again, and proceeded to party like nothing had happened. I was so disgusted by it all I had written an op-ed piece with a rather scathing review of party culture on campus that I was going to submit to the campus paper, but a good friend of mine convinced me not to.

Coronavirus will not stop college kids from partying. And to think that it will is just complete ignorance of that scene.

Is starting placement for races random? I swear Ive been placed in the last row almost every time Ive done Fall Mountain.

I feel your pain. Whether there are 2, 3, or 4 rows in Fall Mountain, I am always in the back. And I don't just say that as an exaggeration. I'm not mostly in the back. It doesn't just feel like I'm always in the back. I am literally always in the back.

I keep on waiting for one to prove me wrong and I just laugh out loud when I see I'm in the back again.

I'm feeling a little burn out too. The intro levels have become too easy. Pretty consistently get top 10 finishes in them. The easiness of them has kind of zapped some enjoyment out of them as they've become just a time waster to the intermediate levels, only to be greeted by Hoarders over and over again (whoppee...). Team games are most brutal when you've lost like 3-4 shows in a row on a team game. Uneven Fall Ball semifinals also make me want to go mad. 5 v 4? Oh, that's fair. I am at level 38 currently, so I may lessen my play time going forward to maybe give myself a break and get excited about the game again.

I would say your friend is right. I recall the Wii version in particular being very well received and thought highly of for quite some time after its release. I'm a Zelda hater by the way who hadnt ever played that game, so just basing this off of what I remember hearing about it in public opinion and amongst friends.

A new annoyance. Getting that 3-team ball roll game. The annoyance has happened twice in a row now. Someone from the leading team (the ball is on its way uncontested) drops back to block the second place team (my team!) and bothers things just enough for the 3rd place team to catch up. It's annoying. Your team is going to win, leave us alone! I'm fine with 2nd and 3rd place blocking eachother, but when someone from the obvious first place team does it, it's annoying.

i actually played through to the end, which was mildly interesting considering the lack of story leading up to it.

It was a visually appealing game at times, but the mechanics were awful.
