Those were issues then and they're still issues now. Nobody is digging out the PS3 to play as The Joker in 2020. So that game was always impacted. It's a lesser game for short term gain for a single platform because of it.

Spider-man as a character is absolutely going to be impacted being exclusive to a single platform. It means he can't be integrated to the story as much as the others. Or the more he is the less content there is for everyone. It's also why the game cannot have crossplay when it otherwise could have.

It has absolutely made the game worse than it would have otherwise been.

Fighting games have basically abandoned platform exclusive fighters these days as well. Probably because they're expensive to develop now. The Avengers roster isn't exactly large to begin with so losing an entire character is a big deal. That's a lot of content for a game like this.

I bought the Arkham remaster on PS4 specifically to experience Joker. >_>

Having played last weekend Im personally looking forward to the game, but Ive gotta say a lot of the base designs for the characters in the game look really bad.

I wouldn't say bad, but boring 100%.

Hulk's timeskip beard alt is cool, Kamala's is boring af(she doesn't even have her usual suit! Wtf?), Iron Man's is...basic. Black Widow's is also basic. Thor's is basic, but I like it a bit. Cap...eh, I'm glad I pre-ordered as the WW2 alt is what I'm hyped for.

There are a few skins I am looking forward to, though. Iron Man's makeshift armor(we see it in the beta, it's him with a crappy outfit that looks like he made it in ten minutes in a dumpster), Thor's basic T-shirt and jeans look...idk why, I like it though, and Kamala's regular super suit.

I will agree though. They could've done more interesting skins starting out. But I get why they didn't. People will pay for better costumes.

What reason did the lego games exist for? And MUA3(other than to cash in on the recent love for Marvel and Thanos)? Because your idea for it is very bare. MUA3 is stylized, sure, but graphics mean very little when the game doesn't exude it's own personality and exists as a sequel(yet doesn't even match up to previous games). The LEGO games have been kinda...formulaic. Comfortable noise? Lmao, what? Not to mention...came out 3 whole years ago.

Spidey, yeah, it's fantastic and no argument there.

Why does it feel forced? Has it's own storyline, it's own lore, a very deliberate gameplay loop and style. It feels like it has a voice, one that wants to be heard. It feels far more unique than the lego games, which are forumulaic as I said, and waaaayyyy more so than the MUA games, which are mindless fun but missing all the love and care of MUA1.

PS4 gets a free costume with every release and earlier content releases, as well as Spider-Man(no other console is getting Spidey, at least not atm, I assume it's not timed exclusive).

And it is NOT the developers choice for any of this. They've made it pretty clear these decisions were all Marvel and Sony on every interview theu can. Blame those assholes, not the developers.

I'm guessing this was all a marketing tactic. They knew their shoppers are mostly white hipsters, and expected them to see this as bold and them caring about PoC, while drumming up new PoC customers because of a percieved discount.

You've got Ultimate Alliance 3, PS4 Spider-Man and the LEGO games. They all pay lip service to the big hitters at Marvel, and they also engage in silly little homages to obscure scraps of Marvel history. Then you have a big, AAA game based on the popular movie Avengers... where the characters look very generic and un-like themselves, engaging in rubbish blockbuster cliches. Like what's the point of seeing a pointless, shitty conflict and team dissolution plot where a plucky young upstart has to get the band back together to save the world when it's obvious that Captain America is going to turn up at some point in the game and lead the Avengers to victory over MODOK or whatever bad guy they picked? They're not even hiding it in the promotional material, he's right there in the OP.

Like, the reason people like the movies is because they're a little offbeat at times, everything about the characters feels iconic, and while the stories are a bit cookie-cutter and tropey at times, the characters are charming and familiar enough to carry them. None of the characters in this game feel familiar - Bruce Banner looks like a budget Huey Emmerich from Metal Gear Solid, Iron Man and Thor are a bunch of generic-ass action figures with no personality, Black Widow looks terrible... the only character that looks okay is Ms. Marvel, presumably because there's no on-screen version of her yet and her design doesn't feel like an absence of something else. It wouldn't surprise me if this game showed up on What Happened in a couple of months with the info that the game was meant to feature the likenesses of the movie cast. And the dialogue shown so far sounds generic and trite. So there's a plot that - while probably passable on its own - hinges on a story detail that promotional screenshots of the game are spoiling, and subsequently can be worked backwards to a bunch of cliche faff, and characters who look bland as shit and who rattle off some of the most brain-dead, trite dialogue in promotional materials for the game. Literally the only thing I want to see in this game is MODOK, and I severely doubt his appearance alone justifies spending the rest of the game with a bunch of generic play-doh recreations of the Avengers.

And again - there have been Marvel games recently that have paid tribute to these characters and done them well enough. This game just looks tedious from the get-go, like it's not worth the effort. The only way I can explain how off-putting I find the designs is if they were planning to use the movie cast for ages, but then the contract ran out and they had to whip up some basic generic approximations of the characters.

What? A game needs to be 'necessary'? No game is necessary.

All the Avengers stories(minus Infinity War) are totally obvious.

The game exists in it's own space, all it shares is similar designs to the movie, and only really Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner. The rest are similar enough to their comic book counterparts. Like...seriously, if not for Bruce Banner, they'd be the same as the comic book Avengers visually.

Imo, it fills a very important place for Marvel games: a multiplayer action game. Call MUA what you want, but it's no different from Diablo. And it isn't better than MUA1, more similar to 2, just a bit better. With a really, really odd system to unlock all the DLC characters that I'm not a fan of.

Plus it's Switch exclusive.

And said AI are based on your own builds. So if you have, say, a Cap that has a support tree(idk if this is a thing), he'll have that. They'll also have whatever gear and costumes you equip on them.

So basically, like playing with yourself lol.
