Heh, I'm 28 and I'm on track to become a multimillionaire before my next birthday. Becoming a millionaire is a great accomplishment, but having learned to invest, it changed my perspective on just how big of an accomplishment it is, at least through my method. It really boils down to having the right information and believing in the vision of the company you're invested in as you could have the right information and not believe it. There are so many opportunities out there, especially in the blockchain field where the world of investing has never been more accessible.

I'm not trying to knock your route OP, but you don't have to wait 20 years to become a millionaire if that's your only goal. You can do it faster, but you'll need to be bold and embrace new ideas.

To be fair, due to the advances and new possibilities granted by blockchain technology, we're essentially in a race with other countries to protect our US sovereignty and maintain financial dominance. If the US dollar is stripped of its World reserve currency status, the American populace is screwed, and that's the area that literally every country and every national bank is doing R&D on distributed ledger technology for. China is making great strides as they have plans to roll out 100 smart cities by the end of the year (provided the 3 Gorges Dam doesn't crack and wipe out those in its projected path) and already have 1 smart city rolled out now. Chainlink is an oracle provider for that city and they have a major Chinese marketing arm to support the Chinese blockchain industry.

I encourage you all to... not have any faith in the government and take matters into your own hands and research on blockchain technology and investments. Even if the world comes crashing down, you can have your own safety nets so you don't get pulled down too far with it.

EDIT: To also play devil's advocate, Biden caught my attention because Yang mentioned that Biden pulled him aside and told him that he agreed that the 4th industrial revolution would tear this country apart. So it's not all despair. But this was before his dementia got as far as it has now...

i've been putting off investing in it since i don't fully understand what's driving its price, nor its technology

You gotta sit down and commit to learning the material. People can and do teach courses on blockchain technology. I personally just spent a half hour watching a new conference talk by the CEO, Sergey Nazarov and am going to do some more reading on how blockchains can support supply chains (completely separate from Chainlink). Learning how this technology eliminates the need for trust isn't something most people can get in a split moment. You have to do your due diligence. Go through the links I initially posted.

But to answer at least one of your questions; the price is currently being driven by the usage of the Chainlink network. Right now De-Fi is booming as major banks all over the world are building financial products and other companies like T-Systems are selling Telecom data on the network. I'd go further and more indepth, but this is something that I also am learning about, especially so I can jump into another crypto project.

In the future, staking is going to be a big driver in Chainlink tokens' value. The Chainlink network is a decentralized oracle network. To recap on some vocabulary:

Decentralized - no single point of failure (if one goes down, it doesn't adversely affect the network)
Oracle (node) - the entity that delivers data to and from the smart contracts
Node operator - Person or team that operates said node.
Smart contract - an application that exists on the blockchain, also known as a Dapp (decentralized Application)

What the Chainlink team actually does is create the tools to run an oracle node and anyone can hop on the network to run a node. HOWEVER, smart contract developers choose what oracles and how many oracles they want to use to service their smart contract. Even more so, for mainnet (there's a test network to screw up and play around and then mainnet is where the "main' action goes), Chainlink enforces a strict KYC check to make sure the teams who run their nodes on the network are up to standard. Then smart contract developer chooses a number of oracles for them to give them the job of delivering data from some API data source to the developer's smart contract.

Currently, the oracle nodes in the Chainlink network are paid by the Chainlink team for their services. In the future, oracles are going to be paid by smart contract developers (or perhaps customers) via Link tokens. But here's the catch, smart contract developers will specify what kind of qualifications the oracle node needs to have to be considered for the job. You don't want any joe shmoe. You want to make sure the oracle isn't unreliable and definitely not malicious. So you choose multiple nodes, and you ask them to hold collateral, a certain amount of Link tokens. If the developer is dealing with a multimillion dollar settlement, he'll probably want the node operators to offer up 10% of the value in collateral. If one of them screws up the job and delivers bad data, they'll have to cough up the Link tokens. If there's consistency among the data delivered by the nodes, you pay them and everyone is happy. This way you can incentivize good behavior. Your node runs properly, you get paid, and there will be a reputation mechanic to help you receive more jobs.

What will drive the price even further is the limitless potential of the use for the network. As I've said before, this is the internet of the blockchains. Blockchains will completely revolutionize the internet. And they'll need to interact with the blockchain's equivalent internet; Chainlink. The internet was valued by Cisco systems once valued the internet at $19 Trillion. Blockchain technology will offer so much more functionality, especially when you factor in videogames finally having digital assets and the automation of the mystifying derivatives, where trades and derivatives is a potentially 1.4 QUADRILLION dollar market. There are 1 billion link tokens in existence, and Chainlink will be involved at every point blockchain interacts with the real world, how much do you think 1 Link token with be worth?

Remember @EndOfDiscOne, never EVER sell. Surprising there's a Chainlink topic on CE.

For the uninitiated, there's a coming revolution, the fourth industrial revolution. While most think about AI, and 5G when they think of new technologies, most are unaware of blockchain technology and the impact it has brought about. The bitcoin was a major feat in creating the first legitimate e-currency and every country and national bank has scrambled to research and develop the tech that makes it possible, blockchain technology. But through the crypto community itself, an even more revolutionary milestone breakthrough came into play, pioneered by the blockchain Ethereum, smart contracts!

Smart contracts, to paraphrase the words of Ian Keane, Head of Solution Engineering UK & Ireland at Oracle Digital, "are neither smart like AI nor legally enforceable". What they are are applications that exist on the blockchain with a unique property where they are service agreements that both parties are beholden to their promises of.

Ever had an experience where you got gypped out of money where someone said they'd pay you X at a later date if you did Y for them? Maybe you've been on the other side. Smart contracts force parties to commit to their promises. "IF X, then Y". "If you buy me Chainlink, I'll transfer off 15% of my profits to you when I sell." In normal circumstances, you have to trust that I'll keep my end of the deal. With smart contracts, there's no need for trust.

With these principles in mind, the industry EXPLODED with new ideas and potential use cases as this will revolutionary change how business is conducted. No longer will people have to trust their medical insurance will pay up what they're supposed to. No longer will people have to trust a reputable seller when buying 3rd party keys to software on some 3rd party site. These are some rudimentary cases but you can check those below.

https://blog.chain.link/44-ways-to-enhance-your-smart-contract-with-chainlink/

A new market that basically blew up (and what I suspect is driving Chainlink's price action), is De-Fi. Decentralized Finance. De-Fi is absorbing all the functionality of normal banks while offering new modes of investments.

There are many many more use cases and potential, as blockchain technology will evolve the videogame industry into an identity most would never imagine could exist as blockchain tech allows the creation of digital assets. Assets, they are each one of a kind, in a sense that if you move one asset from one computer to another, it won't be on the original computer. Contrast this to regular files, you can copy them any which way you want (MP3 sharing anyone?). With this in mind, all those years of people farming the best weapons, min maxed IV pokemon, best armorsets in Monster Hunter, all that useless time can be reframed as advanced preparation for an incoming field. The idea of farming items in videogames is a legitimate career possibility with blockchain technology.

Now how does Chainlink fall into play? It's the World Wide Web equivalent for blockchains.

Blockchains are built from the ground up for security. However, getting information to the blockchain, that's not secure and there's no industry standardized method in doing so. Because of this, smart contracts (the applications on the blockchain) have no secure way of communicating with and consequently interacting with the real world. The entity that delivers data to and from a blockchain is called an oracle. An oracle could very well be tampered with or malicious. This is dangerous for smart contracts that deal with high value settlements, especially in the financial field, as there are millions, if not billions of dollars at stake. As we all know, the weakest link breaks the chain, and this problem is called the oracle problem.

Chainlink is a proven decentralized oracle network that solves this issue.

As a result, we are seeing major company after major company back Chainlink, from Oracle, to Microsoft, to even Deutsche Telekom's subsidiary T-Systems back and support the network. Even governments are working with Chainlink. China announced that Chainlink will be their oracle network provider and they're supporting the network for their smart cities, 100 of them projected to be rolled out this year. And of course, it's a running gag for a small and budding blockchain startup to "announce a partnership" with Chainlink to gain visibility even though the majority of the industry already has.

This project and all it entails will go down in history as smart contracts will revolutionize this world. I implore you all to look into this project and if possible toss money into it and use Link as a stepping stone to learn about investing and other projects worth supporting (I would prefer if you NEVER SELL AT ALL). It's better to have one than none at all. In fact, you can score some for free by opening a Coinbase account, doing their free crypto tutorials and consolidating all your holdings into Link. And if you want to learn more,

Basic information on blockchains -> https://atomicwallet.io/academy

This is a somewhat new growing field and it's accelerating at a MASSIVE pace. Don't shy away from new technology. As it'll come to you whether you're ready or not.

Mistakes? They intentionally did the stuff I mentioned. Fauci admitted to lying about the effectiveness of Masks. And WHO delayed on calling the pandemic a pandemic for almost a month.

Here, I'm listing out all their actions REVOLVING around the pandemic, and especially the unprecedented censorship of the discussion of HCQ. Actions also convey words. "Government says Trump is BSing about HCQ, but they made an unprecedented move of making it harder to access and censored discussions on it" i.e. they're hiding information on HCQ and know more than they let on on its effectiveness. And they want to push for the vaccine solution (whom a number of companies can profit considerably from).

Doctors are challenging the FDA's statements on HCQ's effectiveness. In fact, the Frontline doctors conference talked about it was unprecedented how the FDA blocked people from getting access to an over the counter drug. And your article dismissed the 2005 study because they used cell cultures for their study. I don't see how that throws the study out the water.

Enough to kill the overwhelming amount of independent studies talking about the effectiveness of HCQ's effectiveness on corona chan. And here's another one (but solely HCQ and not the other supplements, most notably Zinc).

https://www.henryford.com/news/2020/07/hydro-treatment-study

What would convince you that HCQ combined with the other drugs work? This has been talked about since February. And all the while, Fauci, the CDC, and WHO have been deliberately spreading misinformation, from saying that the Corona virus isn't anything to be concerned when it was blowing up in China, and even saying Masks don't work. And even the Japanese government called WHO the Chinese Health Organization. Heck, WHO refused to call Corona virus a pandemic while it was blowing up in China when it hit all the criteria it had for it.

French politicians have been passing around HCQ from back in February among themselves, other countries are busy using it, Trump even put in an order to buy up a big supply from India early in February when he was promoting it. And we have these independent reports talking about its effectiveness.

And on the flipside, we know the media has been spreading misinformation, from saying this was nothing more than the flu, to saying it's a big deal and taking it seriously. But then Google goes and generates false news headlines of "XXX new corona cases" and then "authorities" have been condoning protests but heavily discouraged social gatherings otherwise. And then we keep hearing about governors who send Covid positive persons back to nursing homes, and then you hear about hospitals admitting people under the pretense of being corona positive just because to inflate their case rate to receive more corona funding.

How do you guys still maintain this much trust in the government (outside of Trump) and think people who question authorities are loonies? At the very least, HCQ has been talked about for months, and refined from questionable studies to multiple reports repeating HCQ + Zinc + azithromycin from back. And they've been censored repeatedly and the FDA has unprecedentedly made it difficult for people to access an OTC generic drug that cost cents to make. How is this not a red flag? There's a decent layer of consistency here versus the flipflopping of the media.

It really doesn't make sense to me that you guys brush off the articles I brought up and turn around not question the clearly dubious government that has lied to us multiple times.

To make it clear, COVID is a threat, as even for the younger adult crowd who don't have undermining conditions, you risk permanent lung damage at the very least. But let's not deny there are malicious actors out there to take advantage of this crisis. And they're in positions of power and major influence.

Cause the data does not support that.

What data are you talking about? The article I linked talks about multiple studies that vouch for its effectiveness. There was this one Lancet study that discouraged its use but it has since been retracted.

You need to learn to separate the speaker from the words then, else you'll screw yourself out of future opportunities. Case in point, the Chainlink community was heavily driven by this one leaker named Assblaster who broke news of how important the Chainlink project was to the banking industry.

Because it furthers the "Trump is an idiot" narrative.
Well, it only shows how hypocritical people are. For some "believers of science", if they can't separate the ideas from the speaker, no matter what authority the speaker may be, then they're contradicting the whole point of science.

If you guys don't want to listen to the witch doctor, there are other physicians who are voicing the effectiveness of HCQ + Zinc and whatnot.

As professor of epidemiology at Yale School of Public Health, I have authored over 300 peer-reviewed publications and currently hold senior positions on the editorial boards of several leading journals. I am usually accustomed to advocating for positions within the mainstream of medicine, so have been flummoxed to find that, in the midst of a crisis, I am fighting for a treatment that the data fully support but which, for reasons having nothing to do with a correct understanding of the science, has been pushed to the sidelines. As a result, tens of thousands of patients with COVID-19 are dying unnecessarily. Fortunately, the situation can be reversed easily and quickly.

I am referring, of course, to the medication hydroxychloroquine. When this inexpensive oral medication is given very early in the course of illness, before the virus has had time to multiply beyond control, it has shown to be highly effective, especially when given in combination with the antibiotics azithromycin or doxycycline and the nutritional supplement zinc.

She wasn't the first person to speak of the drug's effectiveness. Why are you guys latching onto her so?

You mean openly gay, no?

It should be "be your best self"

Very, very important distinctions to make. "Be yourself" is a worthless piece of advice half the time. In the cases where it would have use, it basically means don't try to be a circle fitting into a square hole. If you're an introvert, don't try to force yourself to party hard and constantly going to social gatherings, you'll drain yourself out.

Being your best, implies that you need to strive to improve and be more than who you are now. If you're an introvert that wants to improve on your social skills, focus on where you do have opportunities to interact with others and work from there. Walk into a store, greet the workers, be direct, greet people as you walk down a street, etc etc. You keep refining and tinkering with who you are and how you can improve as you work toward achieving some tangible goal in life.

OP, you've never seen a girl who made you think to yourself "Is she legal yet?"?. Cause that was half the audience watching Sansa in Game of Thrones.

Might I remind you OP that just because the age of consent is XY doesn't mean you can't be attracted to someone aged XY - 1. The purpose of laws is to maintain order and the progression of society. It has nothing to do with mandating how human nature works. In this context, how it was pushed to bring the age of consent to 16-18 depending on the state to give women more freedom and leverage to contribute to society aside from the traditional role of being a homemaker.
