The reason why it was greenlighted so hard was because during the crisis, we had nothing, and we knew nothing about the disease. A lot of people were being intubated, young and old, and dying. So at that point, it was worth to try and see if there was any improvement. Then more studies showed that hydroxychlorquine was causing more deaths or had no effect. And when combined with azithro it puts the patient at risk for cardiac arrhythmias. So we stopped giving it. Source: resident physician who worked during the crisis. Also, my hospital has been using this protocol for managing these patients. Here are te current recommendations regarding trump's favorite medication

LMAO The thing is, the reason why we have exams like this in the first place is to prevent people from attending medical schools, failing out hard with student loans. It is a test to see if you can handle the material or not. Medical school isn't your normal grad school. The amount of shit you have to know is like drinking water from a fire hydrant everyday. And if this does happen, then what about the STEP 1 and STEP 2 exams? Are we going to start claiming minority and affirmative action? These tests exist to protect patients and make sure physicians are competent. --- |
