I like the idea of colonizing other planets 100%. As much as humans screw things up when moneyed interests grow a mind of their own, I don't hate the idea of making more humans.

The problem isn't that he fails, it's that he fails while ignoring basic engineering principles in ways you would not expect such a rich person to do. It's very amusing to educated people, but lay people looove him. And I wouldn't call myself educated, I just follow scientists and engineers social media. They also love him, but in a different way.

It's mostly his money he wastes, so it's not that I hate him or anything.

Elon Musk is what happens when a software engineer thinks they're a scientist.

In software, you generally think of a goal you want to accomplish, and that goal can be basically as ambitious as you want it to be, and you'll get it done with enough man hours. With science, you don't have a goal, you just slowly improve out the existing technologies we have.

Elon Musk gives himself a goal and attempts to reach it by putting enough man hours in, whether that goal is a space elevator, a rocket taxi, a vacuum tube subway, but he doesn't actually care if what he's doing is physically possible. He goes, "oh I just need to make it physically possible", but technology advancement is less about ambitious ideas and more about finding chemical reactions in a lab that engineers can use to their advantage in ways they hadn't even thought about.

All his ideas are crippled by very fundamental concepts. "Steel rusts", or "tunnels are very expensive to build", or "steel isn't as powerful as you need it to be for this", which is ultimately the reason 90% of his ideas have not been done.

But he's good at getting state grants and wasting tax dollars on projects that won't work.

The villains are valuable IPs. That and the fact that Batman is in kids shows a lot, and it worked into his character because you can't kill people on a kid's show.

The "Batman would go crazy" is a copout written in afterward. Realistically he's a smart guy and he would know where to draw the line, but it's also kind of a cool OCD aspect of him that gives him more depth. Plus, if he did kill people, his whole identity would change because he would have to use guns.

The real bad writing here is that Batman's efforts are never acknowledged as improving the city, and they don't keep the villains in long enough. It's always "on to the next day and Joker broke out again", and it feels sad because it seems like Batman did nothing.

The best versions of Batman are when he has no excuse, he's just afraid of killing people. Like Arkham, when Ras was proud of him for ending his life. It only makes sense that the most compassionate people would have a phobia of killing.

I pretty much lost sleep at night because they scared me with that hell shit. I kept coming up with mathematic models on what percentage of people went to hell, and determined that nearly everyone would, because nearly everyone knows touching yourself is a mortal sin, and everyone does it, and there's only a short window of time, 10% at best, when even the most devout people aren't "cursed" with mortal sin.

Then people tell me, "You had a bad experience, it's a shame", but that was the intended experience. I was supposed to use religion as a tool to prevent myself from going to hell and instead become an immortal god that would never die. Some people use it as an imaginary friend, and that's nice, but that also reinforces the idea that people should focus on the happy parts of their life instead of their impending doom.

I've never had any kind of rash or infection as a result. As long as I make sure the water hits every part.

When I was young (and stopped using soap), I noticed I would get rashes in my pits because the water wasn't hitting them, but since then I just make sure I get a good rinse. The soap basically gave me a reason previously to rinse everywhere.

And no, I don't smell. I'm too thin to really smell bad other than BO from forgotten deodorant.

The hand soap doesn't really do anything, pretty much every study that comes out says the same thing, that it sucks and is bad for your skin and just coats you with scum. It's a mental thing with people, it makes them feel cleaner, but it doesn't do anything.

It's microwave radiation too, which means it would give you the same feeling you would standing out in the sun if you turned up the power by a couple hundred times. For radiation to interact or disrupt a molecule it has to be roughly the same size as it. The wavelength of a microwave can be around a foot.
