I think I gave up whenever season 1 came out and someone got onto me about putting Kaguyuya into comedy. Well guess what, still putting Kaguya under comedy. Most Anticipated Show +5 Zombieland Saga Revenge +3 SSSS Dynazenon +1 Made in Abyss S2 Had to take Otherside Picnic off since it already started. Godzilla: Singular Point is MIGHTY TEMPTING as a Studio Bones and Studio Orange collab, but Im just not a Godzilla guy, and I cant JUST put it on here for the studio. Luckily, Made in Abyss 2 was announced TODAY, so good thing I gave this some time. Fight of the Year I like hype fights, but actually voting for them in a category just doesnt work for me for whatever reason. I obstained last year, and unless Im hit by a sudden urge to represent I likely will this year as well. I think Thunderbolt Fantasy getting snubbed repeatedly burned me out. Best Couple +5 HachiYuki (SNAFU) +3 Shuichi/Claire (Gleipnir) +1 Brawler and Swindler (Akudama Drive) I am assuming two things: this is still loose as usual and doesnt have to be romantic (Kyoudai!), and that Bakarina x Everyone doesnt count. Wanted to include something from Nana here, but couldnt justify it being a valid entry. Best Cast +5 Akudama Drive +3 Kaguya +1 Eizouken Tough to hash out. I wanted consistency, but also knocked points for returning series. Best Visuals +5 Akudama Drive +3 Tower of God +1 Eizouken Not much to say on this one! Best Villain +5 +3 +1 Very odd year for villains. The ones in Jujutsu just arent grabbing me yet. The two I have from Re:Zero I am not even confident will count in the long run, I dont know because the season isnt over! Will I even know then?? --- |

A while back, Mac asked me if anything had a chance of taking out Re:Zero for the #1 spot, and I said likely no, but I hadnt thought on it at all. Now that I have thought on it, its not even making this list. Thats not to say it isnt excellent, I love it so far, but it hits two categories that I am very harshly against prioritizing in awards: seasons that arent done yet, and season that are neither the first nor the last season of a show. First seasons get that initial exposure (see the +1 to Nana, which I almost gave the +2 too before realizing that I was giving extra weight to having just caught up to the manga). Kaguya beats this by primarily being a comedy, every episode stands on its own as a goldmine. Re:Zero 2 is a single arc so far that hasnt been completed. I cant in good conscious get it into the top 5. My Life as a Villainous was here, until I reviewed it over and remembered a few episodes in the middle that didnt land. Best Male Character +8 Kento Nanami (Jujutsu Kaisen) +5 Hoodlum (Akudama Drive) +3 Kyouya Onodera (Talentless Nana) +2 Kaimen (Dorohedoro) +1 Kaburagi (Deca-Dence) definitely a strange list I ended up with here, but considering for the last several years I have struggled to actually reach 5 males, pretty satisfied with it. Best Female Character +8 Katarina Claes (Next Life as a Villaous) +5 Nana Hiiragi (Talentless Nana) +3 Echidna (Re:Zero) +2 Kanamori Sayaka (Eizouken) +1 Swindler (Akudama Drive) Putting together the list of female characters was absolutely effortless. They all came to mind immediately and there was no real risk of a cut. Putting them in order, significantly harder! --- |
