Theres enough good tempo minions too like Sneeds, Malganis, Direhorn, and Baron if you miss Going for a 6 is ok if you have the right setup though the true secret is to get perks because the gap between the good and mediocre/bad heroes is substantial --- I live on, THROUGH THIS SEASHELL! As a result battlegrounds feels much less "solvable" than it did before. Kinda? But honestly a lot of the spells you can tell from what level/what your board state is which one youre picking.
