I recently read a well written article explaining how the longest living, healthiest people in the so called, Blue Zones of the world dont go to the gym.

However, while reading it I couldnt help but think what about their diet? Surely, that must be one of, if not the BIGGEST influence on a persons long-term health. So, I thought, why not write about it.

The Blue Zones include the following places:

Ikaria, Greece.
Okinawa, Japan.
Ogliastra Region, Sardinia.
Loma Linda, California.
Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica

What do Blue Zone people eat?
In short, the majority of their diet is plant based. This is based around fruits, vegetables, whole-grains, beans/legumes and nuts/seeds. They eat very little meat, fish and dairy.

The Western diet, in contrast to the Blue Zone diet, is high in meat, fish and dairy but low in plants based foods. Westerners also have a lower life expectancy and suffer with high amounts of heart disease, diabetes, cancers etc.

With the help of the National Geographic Society, Buettner set out to locate places that not only had high concentrations of individuals over 100 years old, but also clusters of people who had grown old without health problems like heart disease, obesity, cancer, or diabetes.

Why would anyone wear shoes when they're at home?

This is an American thing, no where have I seen nor heard people wear their shoes inside their homes more than people in the States.

I grew up in a busy household full of assholes and poorly trained pets, so if you didn't keep your stuff secure in your room, it would be "borrowed" by someone else, chewed up by a pet, sold for drugs, etc.

It's just a habit that stuck with me but I'm now realizing I should probably do something about it, since I don't have to worry about things like that in my house.

Researchers then wanted to know about the transfer of bacteria from shoes to uncontaminated home floors. They discovered that the transfer of bacteria from shoes to home floors ranged from 90% to 99%.

Our study also indicated that bacteria can be tracked by shoes over a long distance into your home or personal space after the shoes were contaminated with bacteria.

Public restroom floors have been found to contain around two million bacteria per square inch, though the average toilet seat contains only about 50 per square inch.

Bodies like this are unattainable outside of starving yourself of food and water to dangerous levels, and to maintain a jacked look like that over the course of a career, more often than not, guys end up turning to steroids. The reason we don't talk about it as much is because we put dudes like Stallone on a pedestal.

The trial also heard evidence from Hilda Vargas, a housekeeper who has been working for Depp for 30 years.
