Youd think so but bear in mind when you have OP Pokemon people tend to overuse them, so although you have an infinite number of team combos youll frequently just run into:

togekiss, dragapult, excadrill, Dracovish, grimmsnarl, or some combination of all of those.

I ran into at least one of those, to name a few, in almost every single ranked battle.

not to mention most Pokemon are geared towards a particular move set and nature anyway and you can more or less predict what type of dragapult or Togekiss youre fighting

Should have picked chimchar. Fire/fighting has awesome coverage and it learns grass knot for some reason. Steamrolls gen 4 like a hot knife through butter.

Never played gen 4 but if SwSh is anything to go by, i would actually expect that you could steamroll story mode with any old Pokemon? Or was SwSh just ridiculously easy?

I used to be one of those people who only used their starter to basically solo the whole game up until Platinum. My favorite starter in Gen 4 was turtwig. And then came Snowpoint...there's a reason I remember that town's name and almost none of the others.

I used to like arctic for the most part, and as far as I remember he was fairly normal till he lost his dad. And then he called RC the n word, and was fairly unapologetic about it from what I remember. Which was a shame, didnt see him the same way after that.

Seabutcher on the other hand was just insufferable and always had been, had no redeeming qualities whatsoever that I can remember
