Ah, well, in a contest this big, sometimes you'll get a day in Round 1 with all lopsided matches. Hopefully by the time we get close to the retirement round all the fodder will be out. Though honestly I kind of like Credits. For me personally, that second match actually is a kind of close one, but realistically, Credits is much too weird to make a deep run. --- Also known as Cyberchao X. And that means, ladies and gentleman, your VGMC14 retirees are... 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is just the third game in VGMC history to have multiple songs make the bracket in its VGMC debut and have all of them retire that year, followng Ar Tonelico II and Mega Man 3, both of which went 2-for-2 in VGMC2. The only other game to have ever had a 100% eventual retirement rate with multiple songs (a status which Ar Tonelico II lost the very next contest and MM3 lost in VGMC5) is Ys Seven, which amazingly enough still has that status--Innocent Primeval Breaker took 3 tries to retire, appearing in VGMCs 6-8, while Desert of Despair got it on the first try in VGMC7, and we've yet to see another song from that game. (There are 45 games that have only ever had one song in VGMC and it's a retiree, including 19 that did so on the first try. I already had it as one of the nominations that I transferred directly from the "nominate for VGMC14" list to the "nominate for VGMC15" list. Luckily I liked its retirement round opponent enough that I was like "no matter who wins this, I want to nominate the loser next year", so I pulled out the list to update. And yet I'd still rather take both songs in the second match over either song in the first! ...That said, neither of these matches is that tough. As catchy as Rave On is, it's not on par with Desire Below, and that ending just ruins its chances of even being close.
