Korra seems polarizing.

TLA has a more consistent reception but I feel like being only 30 minutes (with having to account for commercials) really cut into its storytelling potential.

If no one respects the stuff I'm doing right, why the hell should I give a shit if you're going to crap on me for desiring to do stuff for myself?

Every poster who is saying because Florida and shit like because America are just uneducated have literally no idea what theyre talking about.

The answer is

1): There are cutouts in the audience
2): The audience that actually is there are socially distanced
3): A good portion of the audience are already vaccinated healthcare workers.

You legitimately have to have a learning deficiency to believe that the NFL would allow the most heavily covered event of the year to be marred by headlines about a fully pack crowd super spreader event.

Just because you make an effort doesn't mean it was a good idea in the first place.

It's such a shame that such a history-making game had to be played in the worst possible conditions. The stadium would be absolutely loaded with Tampa residents if this could have happened in normal circumstances. Being present for the first Bowl ever played at home and winning it to boot would have been an amazing sight.

Just on its own merits. Using it and noting what I encounter as I do. System hangs, app closures, that kind of thing.

At best maybe I'm just comparing it to going to a PC and doing what I want over there but I don't pit it against iOS. They are different paradigms but regardless of the platform, you'll still know when the experience isn't flawless. If I'm using the Android device and I'm not having a perfect experience, I'm not running to get one of my other devices.

Wasn't that hard data shown to be biased by patrolling patterns, laws that targeted certain similar behaviors at different levels (cocaine versus crack), and inherent bias (more likely to be aggressive with a certain race/ look) that led to escalation?

It's probably a vicious cycle. The belief that communities of minorities commit increased crime results in increased patrolling numbers to account for it, which just leads to more arrests and stronger metrics.

I guess I concede that point, the numbers were tainted from the off. The need for increased patrolling in minority communities probably comes from an era where black people really were seen as "a problem" (like the 60s) and it just kept pilling on more and more data based on the unfair assumption.

I think the real danger, however, is that it feeds police biases at the street level. They spend too much time around communities they perceive as being crime-heavy and then that just becomes the norm for them. They can't actually fairly enforce the laws because they're exposed to one segment of the population too much and set expectations about that. That's a failure of leadership. If the "All Lives Matter" thing wasn't a rallying call for bigots, that's the crux of what ought to be targeted (ingrained biases affecting law enforcement due to skewed patrolling and community involvement).

I like the house on fire analogy.

Someone sets a house on fire, then you scream "We need to put out that fire! That house is on fire! We need to save that house!"

And then someone else says "Why just that house? All houses matter!" and proceeds to spray a hose at a different house down the street.

I will say though that the BLM movement would have been smarter in terms of marketing to pick a different name. They were asking for "Black Lives Matter" to be twisted.

If they called themselves All Life Matters, ALM from the start. Conservatives would have no where to go beyond screaming about abortions.

That doesn't work either. I think it's more it needs a targeted message that "police brutality against minority communities stops with us." Uniting the world in the cause that policing is not color blind and the ramifications of it are not going to be tolerated any longer.

Ok, thats fine. Working class jobs in general are very stressful and require a great deal of patience. That doesnt excuse anyone working one to whip out a pistol and blast a persons life away and get a paid vacation for doing so.

No, it doesn't. I'm firmly in favor of increased police accountability for acts of deadly force if it's proven excessive. It gets buried too often behind union stonewalling and "the blue wall of silence."

I don't think the standards of what constitutes excessive force should change but I do think investigative thoroughness and public disclosure needs to be addressed. I think use of force investigations are handled differently based on who the force was used against and often unjustly.

There's hard data that can be applied to ethnic breakdowns of crime, I just think that shouldn't be something that factors into dealing with the public at the street level. Just enforce the laws as they are written.

This. Also created by racists: blue lives matter and thin blue line.

Well I stand behind police, I just wish they wouldn't enforce laws with ethnic metrics so much. The life of an average cop is dealing with annoying people and happening upon depressing situations (like a junkie laying on the ground behind a Burger King and you don't know if they're dead when you walk up to it). It's a hard life of patience and I respect the work but it's rooted in old logic.

The message Black Lives Matter carries is actually important on a broad spectrum. No one deserves to be harassed or be subject to excessive force just because the police are relying on outdated and unfair biases against the citizens they serve.

The message should be that "policing is color blind" but instead it's a rallying cry for people feeling like white people are being marginalized.

But that's too dramatic. I think DC has a right to remain as it is and simply get the representation it deserves. It's not a state but legislative representation is a right all American citizens are entitled to.

I get WHY there's opposition (if it did, it would be guaranteed Democrat, although blocking it on those grounds alone is really petty given how much it flies in the face of the principles of government) but I can't believe people won't set aside party biases long enough to leave so many people unrepresented.
