It is true that some people are more gifted genetically and have an easier time achieving whatever "look" society accepts as superior. But there's a few caveats to that.

* Anyone can raise their "look" on the attractiveness scale. Losing weight, building muscle, being well-groomed, wearing clothes that fit and is classy/sporty/hipster/whatever image you are going for, treating acne/other blemishes, wearing makeup (for women), experiment with facial hair combinations (for men), and if you have the disposable income, get Lasek to rid of the glasses or a hair transplant to heal balding spots if you feel those are a detriment to you
* The second point is that while there is the "Hollywood male" or "GQ male" look that people strive for, not all tastes are the same. I've known girls that perform the skinny, Edward from Twilight look, others that prefer the buff Dwayne Johnson look, and others that appreciate the slightly thicker lumberjack look (especially in the central US/northwest). Preferences vary, so your best bet is to learn what type of "look" you are naturally built for and aim for that, rather than trying to attain a "look" that you have no possible way of achieving. For example, many guys will never look like a Disney prince no matter how hard they try. Their head shape, body shape, jaw line, facial structure just aren't fit for that. But they can still attain a look that others can find attractive if they work with what they do have.
* And lastly, I know you mention in your OP the importance of the other factors such as personality, confidence, etc., but I do want to emphasize that they complete the package. My sister-in-law has dated guys based on nothing but looks, and quickly finds out they are either shallow, stupid, abusive, or all of the above, and her relationships have ended horribly. Looks do give people an unfair advantage as that is the first thing you notice about a person. But the other factors become important after the first meeting. Looks alone don't make people happy, as you can see from the many Hollywood stars with failed marriages and other conventionally-attractive people who have taken their own lives due to depression.
All this to say, looks shouldn't be the most important thing in life, even though it might be for some people. Regardless, there are ways you can improve your own looks, just try for something that fits your own features, rather than trying to strive for a particular look you saw on TV or a movie.

Whaddup DsDude(19?). Yeah raising looks is a factor. I used to be way more fit and active in my early 20s but I've suffered some injuries from doing as such and I'm a little hesitant to go back in. I'm still in decent shape physically. I've been experimenting at work with styling my hair a different way every day, just for fun. My coworker is a hot guy and he puts a lot into grooming, so I figure I have no excuse to at least make my hair look cooler.

Those girls might have different preferences but even among preferences, there's still fundamental traits of attractive vs unattractive. Even among us guys, we don't all prefer 100% the same thing, for example most of us prefer 2 eyes that aim towards the same thing than a lazy eye. We like good teeth no matter what specific types of teeth we like. With girls, girls that like the nerdy guy like cute nerdy guys. They like distinguished academic high achieving guys with swag than just someone who's smart. If they pick a guy that doesn't look super good, it's because he's 100% of what they want instead of 90% what they want. Otherwise they'll try the 90% guy and either hope, settle for, or dedicate their life to change him into the extra 10%.

Lastly, I feel like it's unhealthy to assume "oh those hot guys are shallow". Let's say there are a pool of 100 hot guys for your sister to date and 35 of them are shitty guys. What about the other 65? Those guys are hot AND have their shit figured out. I feel like this is something average/ugly people tell themselves to feel better, me being one of them. Those hot-but-shitty guys are valuable until proven otherwise, whereas in average people's lives the opposite is true, shitty until proven valuable.

Yeah people can definitely be more attractive based on their energy, and just the aspect of interacting with them and a mutual "oh you give a shit about me" vibe.

In that case, it's more like the psychology of what's going on has to prove to you that the looks are secondary. If she was an 8/10 to begin with and you got to know her, she'd be the girl of your dreams in the same time you determined she was 6/10.

I understand that someone's confidence, personality, status, career etc particularly about men still matter, but man, how do I/you not get flustered about the whole thing? Intimacy is a human need. I know there's stuff about me that I should change to be better equipped for intimacy and I have a lot of problems. However, other people also have tons of problems but they at least get a chance at love/intimacy if they're good looking, and if they're good looking enough, they are forgiven for their problems instead of an expectation to overcome them. My life and situation could be way worse than it is and I'm fortunate to have some of the things in my life, and it's not like every good looking person only gets by on their looks, but I still feel like looks is some cheat code that some people have that helps them just because they were born.

It feels like there's this huge party of dating, sex, and spontaneity that's happening all around me and I'm not allowed to participate 80% of the time. The other 20% depends on me developing some sort of bullheaded confidence or straight up psychoness to delude myself into being some superior human for confidence. Go ahead and tear me apart, I love yall

The whole thing with comic books and heroes is that you see how they get tested which shows you why they are a hero, not how. Spiderman has to choose between saving a bus full of innocent civilians or his crush. Batman has to choose between saving the district attorney or saving his love interest. Superman chooses to save humanity in situations he quite clearly could avoid because he knows he's beyond the human race.

The underlying motif is that these people sacrifice themselves for a greater good and still deal with human emotions in the process. Superheroes definitely have an effect on morality/psyche regardless of how childish they sound

The law is a funny thing and unfortunately isn't as black and white as maybe it should be at times. Something happening in the past doesn't mean it should be forgotten and ignored. Action has been taken for arresting individuals in the riot but to address the core of the issue needs time because people are just as good at manipulating rules as they are coming up with rules. The FBI still has open murder investigations, kidnapping things, etc ongoing. Sometimes people get found guilty of crimes decades later. Does that mean Cosby should be innocent cause he raped women decades ago? No. Bringing up how much time has passed as a means to forget and forgive shouldn't matter. It's better tomorrow than never.

My father beat the shit out of me on a consistent basis, whether it was to relief stress from work, because I wasn't as smart as him, because he felt my mom loved me more than him, and sometimes just randomly. He would compete with me, prove himself superior, and mock me for being less.

My mom threatened to kill herself in front of me to show how much she loved me, she almost crashed our car when driving me to work to end our lives, she completely denied when I told her that my dad was beating me, and she wished I was more like my friends because they'd make better sons.

Idk. How is inciting a riot not illegal? How is 2 guards not being present at a pedophile ring owner mastermind's death not illegal? This world is fucked and no matter the amount of rules we have in place, there are still other motivations and ways to poke rules that people are good at. You're seeing the effects of people who are quite literally the best at manipulating rules in the entire country, maybe planet, fight back and this is what they come up with. The only thing to all this is that they are losing by the same rules they won by. So mini-short attacks, misinformation, making (immoral) deals with brokers, these are all the things that helped them before, but now it's starting to hurt them so they're pushing what they know to the fullest.

Are there any cool titles still coming out for PS4? I played Spiderman and beat it (loved it), played and beat God of War, got Kingdom Hearts 3 and it was shit. The only thing I'd even be interested in playing is the FF7 Remake, and before it was also gonna be Last of Us Pt 2 but everyone says it's a huge disappointment. Last Guardian looked interesting for about 10 minutes.

The only game I'm really interested on the Switch is Mario Maker 2. I loved the first game to death and the 2nd one just has everything better. More mechanics, better level filters, multiplayer, more daily content. I watch MM2 content and just makes me wanna play the game. I also wanna get Clubhouse Games 51 and Links Awakening. I might get Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, maybe Super Mario Party, and maaaybe Smash Bros for when people start coming over again. I definitely want to get BotW2.

Wtf has money even turned into. It was first a way to represent how much work a porkchop was, pants, a pint of ale, etc. So that everyone wouldn't have to barter individual items and lets people trade freely. Now it's this whole fucking thing that dominates everything and money makes itself more money and you can give money to better get money off your money. But if your little more money makes a little more money, that's good cause everyone else's little less money makes a little less money.

I came back from the dentist and my bill before insurance was $750. 750 fucking dollars for someone to floss my teeth. I could get a round trip ticket to CA and go to a music festival and lodging and everything for that price. I floss every day for free. Big pharma makes fentanyl, one of the most potent drugs, gets into legal troubles and now those same companies make the antidote too and sell them? Wtf.

I do community work with special ed and I'm doing it because I like social work and it feels like I'm getting money doing something I like and making a little difference. But I'm doing this to survive. People make shit tons of money and don't need all of it to survive or even most of it. They just like collecting money and are good at it. And what do they do with money? Just use it to get more money. At our losses. The wealth disparity is so crazy. I'm sure if I had every single need met, every single want met, I'd get bored and do wacky shit. I'd love that. I'd drop my job in an instant if I got a shit ton of money and just take random classes and study things I like and try out a bunch of different shit until I get bored and die. Getting money after you have enough money to do everything you want seems like BS especially because it's at other's loss too. I don't blame people necessarily for not being philanthropists but I feel like there's a certain point where greed is greed.

Imagine blackjack but on top of being good at counting cards, blackjack pays out more to specifically you, plus you only lose 50% of your bet, and the better you play the more tilted the risk/reward gets, AND you collect 10% of everyone else's bet. Just a money machine. Wtf

There's no black vs white division in running. There aren't separate records. There's not a situation that exists where a black person can feel white internally, bleach their skin, and go compete and utterly dominate the white runner category.

There's a weight division in fighting. A heavyweight cannot identify as a featherweight, get in the ring, and decimate people half their weight.

We have a lot of data across lots of sports that show that, while yes black people do statistically better some sports, it is certainly not every sport or super widespread of a difference.

Guess what that same data shows. There is a TON of difference between male and female sports, across the board.

With transgender people being in sports, this situation can exist in real life and when there's huge monetary gain from being a top competitor, as well as changing other competitors legacies, you have to look at all the factors.

There's a cool story where, in 1998, Venus and Serena Williams (ranked 5th and 20th in women's) said they could beat any man in the top 200. Karsten Braasch, ranked 203rd in men's, took up the challenge and beat them BOTH, back to back, 6-2 and 6-1. Allegedly hungover. Also this player was known for smoking a lot. Not that this should be conclusive evidence, but it's still telling
