Grand Theft Auto is one of the biggest franchises in the world and you can straight up go on murdering sprees on a whim. Can't think of any popular releases that let's you play as a rapist. I'm sure there's a bunch of fucked up Japanese games like Rapelay or whatever but do those games ever see wide releases?

You -can- go on a murdering spree but you cannot progress the game that way. Might as well say Surgeon Simulator is a murder game as you can play spoons on a patient's brain instead of performing surgery.

There's actually not many. The majority of "murder" is clearly done in self defense or in pursuit of a more noble cause. Games where you're just murdering people for fun like Manhunt or Hatred are not really that common and the games where you play a rapist outnumber them by far.

The issue is there's no way to justify rape as a sympathetic act. There's things to gain from killing people, be it territory or money or revenge or whatever else have you. Nobody gains anything from rape. It's just pointlessly cruel.

Silent Hills is *very* specific; not just a remake of an existing SH game or a completely new game for the franchise.

Sure. It's an officially cancelled game that was intended to use the Fox Engine. Even if "revived" it would not take the intended form unless Microsoft somehow managed to convince Konami to license it to them and then subcontract out the development to Hideo Kojima & Guillermo del Toro.

I'm not saying it's likely, just saying it's reasonably possible and something Microsoft might want to seriously consider if they were trying to win Japanese audiences.

As for the Silent Hill franchise as a whole, Konami has not shelved the franchise but has no plans for a new one at this time. Anything to the contrary is just speculation.

This is called "right of first refusal" which is to say, if Sony even has such a thing, would mean merely that Sony would collect the same royalties per game sold as if it were on their system. So Konami overall gets less money but if the investment is big enough then it might not matter to them.

There's no evidence suggesting they even have that kind of right though. There's nothing out there that points to anything other than it is wholly Konami's.

There still aren't enough details to know how this is going to work.

Mags don't do anything in NG. Just there for looks.

I'm guessing weapons temporarily changing means you have weapon skills now and have to unlock your basic attack chains.
