The first half feels well-rounded when it comes to the Vietnam War. There's the obligatory digs at Richard Nixon, but both the soldiers and the antiwar correspondents are treated like actual people. Then the second half goes full strawman and starts having Samuel L. Jackson pull guns on innocent people for no reason.

Other than that, the film's pretty decent.

Super Mario 64 would have had loading times, but Luigi would've been playable. Some of the cut content would've likely found its way into the game as well -- like the Blargg from Lethal Lava Land.

How did this administration ever get elected?

The narrative that Abraham Lincoln only freed the slaves to spite the South doesn't make sense.

For one thing, he pushed abolition through against opposition and only when the South was more or less defeated. You could say that he was wanting to kick them when they were down, but it doesn't make sense that a man would put his life on the line for spite -- especially since he was so vocal about binding the nation's wounds.

Lincoln is quoted as saying Black people and White people are not equal. If he hadn't gone on record to say that, he never would have been elected. He was a politician. He had to say what he had to say at the time. His actions prove where he stood. Did he believe in absolute racial equality? Probably not. Would have have allowed slavery to continue if it meant avoiding the Civil War? Most likely. Did he believe sincerely that slavery was something that should be ended? Absolutely. If Lincoln hadn't freed the slaves, he would not have been assassinated.

It's a poor thing to try and defame a man who died for a good cause, but that is the nature of politics. The people who want to make Lincoln a villain tend to fall into two camps: godslayers, whose only goal is to bring down the mighty, and individuals who want to you to believe that there's no such thing as a good Republican -- in this generation or any other.

It's still fun, though I think programmers expected too much of players. For a game meant primarily for children, it has some pretty unrealistic expectations in some of the boss races and silver coin challenges.

They should recast.

If there had been a Black Panther trilogy, I'd say it would be fair to quietly kill the character off off-screen and retire him out of respect for Chadwick Boseman. But seeing as he's Marvel's first starring Black male superhero, and he only got one film in which he was the lead, I think they should recast and continue on. DC brought the Joker back twice since Heath Ledger's passing.

The world needs T'Challa, not his successor.

Man, screw Wizpig. That damn race took me at least two hours to beat. That said, it's great to finally get the monkey off my back. I played the game when it was new, and again in 2004, and I never beat Wizpig before today.

The first day of 2021 and I beat a boss who's had my number for 16 years. Good way to kick things off, eh?

All*Star's save feature lets you stock up on power-ups and use them in whatever world you choose. I have to say, that puts it ahead of the original.

I found it amusing that GameFAQs, a site which even back then did not allow homophobia, would feature an add with a mild slur for gay people.

If all conservatives were like Trump, I would be in favor of going to war with them and refusing to take prisoners. He's a dumb ass who enjoys power at all cost to others. He knew people would commit suicide when he said to inject bleach and he said it anyway. As far as talking about the economic responsibilities of who could've saved who, I'd say there's plenty of bloods on the hands of both parties. That argument doesn't fly with me. Anyone could've done more to save more lives. Democrats could've compromised to save lives. There's been a lot of bickering and self-serving on both sides.

So, no. Alignment alone isn't enough of an argument for me.

Better boss fights, better story, better characters, better levels overall. The only thing DKC2 has in its favor is the music. They're both great, but it's more fun playing Yoshi's Island.
