I misspoke in my earlier post but I clarified and Ill continue

Theyll never lose Pokmon by letting one fan game slip through the cracks, no. But they dont let flagrant rip offs of copyright material slide because of not only the precedent it sets. Companies also dont like the idea of something baring their name but not their standards. That makes things very messy for them.

Nintendo can suck my left nut and Ive spoke at length on this site about why. Im also no expert on law that doesnt involve birds, but I know enough to explain WHY companies like Nintendo dont let this kinda shit slide.

Im white and I cant stand anime. But based on what Black people have embraced anime I a way that no other culture has.

Like Asian cultures always grew up with it like we grew up with western cartoons. I ride for all the cartoons I grew up with.

White people, for years, quietly loved anime. Type cast into the weaboo stereotype for the most part, very few people were open about it.

I think in part it was the way they handled the DLC-- tons of free weekly content that most big publishers would have nickle & dimed people to death for and then 2 huge expansions that were way more content than most companies do for similar pricing.

What makes this conversation interesting to me is you can take this ad within the context of the game, and what that ad actually means in the world of 2077 theyve imagined. How do the people of their world see this ad.

I think theres 2 main ways to think from a consumer perspective of why sex sells, those 2 reasons are the male/female gender in our current world.

Basically in a binary society as the world we exist in has been for years. if a man or womans sexuality is used in an ad and its being targeted towards those who are attracted to that person, ad companies hope those people think to themselves if I buy this product maybe someone like that will fuck me or something to that affect. They hope they tingle your gentles enough that it also tingles your wallet.

but again thats only part of the story. Because thats not how ad companies think. Theyre not JUST selling to one demographic, even if it is their main demographic

Theyre also hoping that those other demographic identify enough with the person being sexualized in the ad to think to themselves oh that persons cool, attractive, good looking. I wonder if by extension of that product theyre peddling I can be like them

I want to pause and address the fact that the language Im using is my own. Im not painting ad companies in the best light, because theyre not trying to be your feiend, theyre trying to trick your brain into believing you need their product. Im not their PR person and I dont care if its predatory. Its life. People wanna fuck and be desirable and ad companies will use that against you to sell you shit.

But when it comes to using trans imagery in ads as in the case of this 2077. How is it viewed to those consumers of that world? That ad is telling them to mix it up now there isnt just 2 main ways of thinking about this ad. No 2 gender approach. Theres a fucking ton. If theyre trying to sell this Soda or whatever it is and using a trans figure to do it. Who identifies with this person, who finds them attractive, and who maybe thinks both? What do I about myself today and what could be tomorrow could change instantly. And who just wants to drink this soda, idk we dont care about them.

In the cyberpunk 2077 world I DEFINITELY think theres probably more than the 3 pronouns I talked about in my opening post. In that hypothetical society, I could see soooo many more variances of gender being represented than I currently see our society functioning.

When you could change your gender or sex like you change the case on your phone... its so much to fucking think about.

And look at that. Look how much thought Ive put into this ad. Im literally altering my perspective of trans people as I think about this cyberpunk ad and you can decide dor
yourself how my line of thinking makes you feel. But I believe its ALL positive discussion and pro transgender thinking. I think that billboard was wildly misinterpreted. The message was more like "Why not try out a dick?" than anything to do with trans people.

I dont know WHAT the ad is selling at this moment, and Im sure Ill find that out when I do play the game next week.

Its an interesting conversation though.

Which in the video game space, Deus Ex asks similar questions about bionic enhancements, about what a world would look like if those were introduced. The class systems that would form. How the haves would be treated from the have nots.

Cyberpunk goes a little further. Not only does it ask, what if this world existed and it was completely integrated into everyones lives. What if your gender could change as easily as you could change a pair of glasses? What if it was never questioned. What could be possible.

Are those offensive questions to ask? Ita a video game. It can be whatever the creators dream it to be.

To me, its a very interesting question with a lot of merit. On the subject of Gender. What if, in this world, having a cybernetic arm, eyes or sex organ has no limit. Why not?

Anyone can go out and buy a dildo or a strap on. What if you could have one installed? Then the only limit may be your imagination or your budget. You could have a penis that lived inside you like wolverines claws. And is that wrong? Why?

To further beat a dead horse here. At what point do you draw the line?

is a boy not allowed to wear a dress if thats what they like to wear?
Is a male actor not allowed to try and play a female character?
Is a woman model not allowed to decide she would like to be represented with breasts and a penis?

At what point are you becoming the exact thing which you hate. An ignorant, hate filled gatekeeper. Telling people how to dress, what to look like, what ideas to embrace or not, how best to represent their sex

And were not even talking about gross exploitation because the example given is a fake ad in a video game. Again, the point I take away from it is that its inventing a world FAR different form our own, that trans people arent questioned in any way. Thats what that image actually represents. I believe anyone is entitled to do what they like with their own body. I believe people, all people, are born with something beyond their control. Every single person was born into a body they had no say in. So of course that includes people that feel something innately wrong about the body they were born into

Transgenders have every right to exist as anyone else does, they should be an equal part of society in every single regard. But that means everything. I think the absolute best example of this that I can think of is when people got mad that Cyberpunk 2077 uses a transgender sex symbol on billboards in Night City. Is that not the world you aspire for? No, not to BE treated as sex object, but as an example that youre not treated any differently than anyone else. A worldwide acceptance thats understood by all. To the point where its never questioned or thought of negatively or abnormal in any way.

But where I take issue with anything is the pronoun conversation.

How many do we need?

I recognize He, She and in very rare circumstances They.

How does that not include everyone? Isnt that all we need? What exactly needs to be changed other than the hatred and bigotry in the hearts and minds of people?

I know 2 people personally that are transgender. Both male to female. Both referred to as her/she.

The only circumstances I see that you need to use They/Them to refer to someones gender specifically. Is one, in the case where youre not sure and you dont want to make the wrong assumption. Or someone who really doesnt subscribe to either. At least not now. Maybe they never will.

But in practical application, He, She, They. Includes every single person on this planet. And in the extremely rare cases where the first two doesnt cut it, we can come up with easy solutions and options for those that choose not to answer to He or She. And this is small peanut changes Im referring to. Like what gender to check on a form. Bathrooms? If Male or female doesnt work for you, is there not a private handicapped washroom anywhere? Can we not just change that signage? Instead of amending the whole restroom infrastructure on the entire planet?

No? Am I wrong?

I know some people probably think Im so wrong that Im an idiot, that Im part of the problem. But that to me is the much bigger problem of this conversation. Not everyone is going to be a perfect ally. Not everyone is going to think like me, or you, or anyone else. Society cant cater to every single belief out there. But as long as were kind and respectful to everyone, it will get better with time.

Consoles can do more than gaming also these days. What kinds of things are you referring to specifically?

Also youve had a PC you last you from 2005-2020? With minimal upgrades ?

Microsoft and Sony host the servers and have created the infrastructure for achievements, game capture / streaming voice chat, friends lists , cloud saves, app and game stores AND for it to all work seamlessly the moment you boot up the console.

You may like the piecemeal versions on PC. That brings us back to the topic at hand of preference. Theyre absolutely allowed to charge for their work, and people have no problem paying for a service that works as well as it does on consoles.

Never do you have to tell your friends to download a specific app, and then a specific server in that
app to voice chat. Its completely built into the consoles.

And I KNOW youre gonna say something like thats all free on PC whats free? Steam is free yep. It has most of the features Ive listed in it alone . Discord is free too. Many similar features and overlap. Mumble is free. More overlap. Blizzards launcher is free too.

i own a gaming PC and I have for years. I know how they work. And I know I would much rather pay a small fee on a console to have a unified service with zero redundancy and overlap due to competing programs all doing the same thing. you may prefer options and thats fine. Some may provide more features or better features. I prefer the unification.

Because Ill tell you right now. Having to have a seperate friends list alone for all of these programs Is a fucking joke. In addition to all these other features that are completely isolated and unique from one another. 6 separate friends lists on 6 separate apps. PC gaming.

What a novel concept that on PlayStation or Xbox I can boot up any game, and have all these features there, where and when I need them, and its completely seamless. The only time it ever changes is console generations? Which only gets better over time as you bridge the gap between systems and theyve just added more features. So Ive had the same Xbox account since 2002. Which back then, was literally just a game tag and a friends list and the ability to play online? But in the 18 years since then, its Grew and evolved as gaming evolved. But it never got lost or made redundant along the way.

Bur you go ahead and prefer that to paying to play online like thats all it is to you. This is about preference. Im not telling you which one you have to like. Im saying the fact some people cant even UNDERSTAND why I and many others prefer our way is beyond reason.
