"Despite getting rid of the mandate area-wide, face coverings will still be required to enter county-owned buildings. This won't affect the mandates of the Williamson County Schools or the Franklin Special School District Boards of Education, Anderson said. "

Looks like face coverings are still required in the building.

Battery was upgraded to class 4 felony hate crime. The incident occurred August 17 on the Winnetka Pier. A man and 2 women were sitting on the pier when a private citizen came up and told them that they had to leave. This private citizen got angry when told she was being filmed and going to go viral. She reacted by striking the arm holding the smart phone. I do not have the hearing transcript but it appears that the victim told the court that he is suffering a bruise.

Catholic Schools in Chicago opened. The playground for the school next to me is the paved-over street in front with benches and a tree or two. People, dogs and children walk through here because it is the street and the sidewalk. Possession is 9/10 the of the law and the teachers of this school have the attitude of possession.

No masks and they are supposed to be giving kids an education which seems to be ordinary laws do not apply them. Muh freedom for everyone equally. (Mexican-American and Latino school) It would be bad enough if Chicago and Illlinois were holding the line on coronavirus but as everyone on this topic knows Chicago and Illinois are losing.

Chicago has a mask mandate. Illinois has a mask mandate. Education. You have to keep the schools open for all the valuable learning these kids would not get through remote learning.

Anyone want to post about the shoddy construction in their rental/condo? They cover everything up. I have been routinely stuffing cracks. The property manager agreed to fill the cracks on the our walkthru but did not. The cracks I could see are nothing to how bad this building is.

When the building was flipped, they put contact paper over the walls and then painted the contact paper so it looks like a normal wall. You would think that painted over contact paper would be a barrier to dust, odors and hot drafts but its not. I finally found where the hot air (cold in winter) is coming from. Much cooler in here now.

There should be a law that they have to reveal that they used painted-over contact paper.

The police scanner audio indicates that police opened fire 5 minutes after they arrived. https://madison365.com/kenohsa-police-opened-fire-less-than-5-minutes-after-being-called-scanner-audio/

Transcripts of the audio and the 911 call are not available. There are very few facts available other than a man is in hospital paralyzed from the waist down. Blake is a common name. From what I can tell the police scanner audio and the 911 call did not name Jacob Blake and after the "arrest" the police found a warrant for a Jacob Blake.

[cnn]
The officers were dispatched to a home in Kenosha after a woman called police saying "her boyfriend was present and was not supposed to be on the premises," the DCI said.
It's unclear whether the caller was referring to Blake, who survived the shooting and whose attorneys said has not been able to speak very much while in the hospital on pain medication.

Public schools open next Tuesday, in my area. I work in the school system and can tell you it will be an absolute mess. The news is reporting things to be used as safety measures that are just not in place. One school so far as the safety glass between desks. The glass is short too. If a small kid stands up it will be no issue to have his face over it. Teachers have been working together closely, unmasked. If they need to be policed to wear masks, how are they trusted to enforce the rules for children?

If they need to be policed to wear masks, how are they trusted to enforce the rules for children?

I never saw this one coming. I have had trouble wrapping my head around Chicago having a lower positivity rate than counties south of its Cook County. They are way less population dense. In an inverse way this mentality may be saving Chicago. Chicago has about 50% compliance and a 5.2 positivity rate is nothing to brag on but I am grateful it is not worse.

If these southern counties (Kankakee and Rantoul) are blowing off guidelines, then my guess is that they are staying out of Chicago voluntarily. Next I also guess that their staying out of Chicago is keeping Chicago's infection rate down based on my picture that the fewer people moving around the less the coronavirous contagion will be.

BTW, the main campus of the University of Illinois is in Champaign-Urbana county and they have a [weird] plan of some physical class time. This is the ordinance that the county put in place. https://www.c-uphd.org/documents/admin/coronavirus/CUPHD-COVID-19-Face-Coverings-and-Gathering-Restrictions-Ordinance.pdf

I only noticed today that I lost my sense of taste. It has been at least a week. I noticed that I was eating less and all the bottles of kombucha tasted the same. Yesterday, one of my favorites - pesto tortellini - just lacked taste. I boiled it some more today thinking I had undercooked it. Then it hit me. I lost taste. You know what food tastes like so you do not necessarily notice right away. It is just that I really enjoy tortellini - normally. *sigh*

TN's numbers are many times more than what they were when we shut down in March, but things are continuing to re-open. The death rate and hospitalization numbers are worse as well.

Found out that my work at a county building is opening back up fully in a week. The public can go where they want, hold meetings, etc. School starts on Monday so you would think they'd wait to see the fallout from that as well as Labor Day, but no. I thought it was the county higher ups like the Mayor pushing for us to fully re-open, but I learned it was just my boss. Oh, and my work has stopped providing masks for employees because "they cost too much" even though we were told earlier in day that the county funds are doing great because they haven't spent much during the shutdown.

What gets me the most is that, ever since March, my boss has told the entire staff repeatedly that we should be "happy and grateful to continue working while others are without a job." Mind you, the building I work in will not ever close down. We also do not receive our yearly raise and have been dealing with the public since May. The public who, at times, dislikes how we're safely operating and decides to spit on things or yell in our faces. I should be grateful that I get to continue working where I'm risking my life and my families? Sometimes, it gets incredibly depressing....

....time to see how Enji Night is doing in the tournament. >_<

Supposedly there is a Japanese custom where you go drinking with your boss and speak your minds. True or not, it may work on a revolving plan where you rotate in and out on 30 minute shifts. No need to let the boss know you will be rotating in and out.

From your first link
COVID-19 is generally a mild disease in children, including infants. However, a small proportion develop severe disease requiring ICU admission and prolonged ventilation, although fatal outcome is overall rare.

Four patients, all older than 10 years, had a fatal outcome (CFR 069%, 95% CI 020182), with death occurring at 3, 9, 11, and 17 days after symptom onset. Two patients had no known pre-existing medical conditions; one had a cardiorespiratory arrest before arrival at the hospital and resuscitation was unsuccessful and the other died while being mechanically ventilated in ICU. The third patient had undergone human stem cell transplant 15 months earlier. The fourth patient was managed palliatively (without intubation), due to the severity of their pre-existing medical conditions. The remaining 578 patients were alive when the study closed. 93 (16%) individuals never developed clinical symptoms. In 460 (80%) individuals, all symptoms had resolved without apparent sequelae, whereas 25 (4%) were still symptomatic or were requiring respiratory support when the study closed.

Nevertheless, our data indicate that children and adolescents are overall less severely affected by COVID-19 than adults, particularly older patients. Previous, large-scale data suggest that the CFR in adults older than 70 years is close to 10%, potentially due to immunosenescence. It is reassuring that our data show that severe COVID-19 is uncommon in young children, including infants, despite their immune maturation being incomplete, with only few requiring mechanical ventilation. It was striking that all children who died in our cohort were older than 10 years.

This proves that children are not endangered by covid 19? Am I right?

I am sure that any article that I provide will prove to you that it is ok to expose children to sars-cov-2. The tenor of the article you quoted is that children need to be protected from exposure to coronavirus but to you it proves children are little covid stoppers.

This is a good time to remind everyone that jurors watched the footage of cops beating Rodney King and said not guilty.

assuming this is sarcasm (if not whoops): what i was suggesting is that i am moving from a state with a big government response to covid-19 (outdoor mask mandates, still no indoor dining) to a place in which you're probably about as likely to piss people off by wearing a mask as you would be if you didn't

@TheOrgyPorgy It was not sarcasm. I think you put it well.

Florida still has eviction moratorium until end of the month.

Chicago Public Schools will be remote learning for first quarter. *can hear B DeVos snickering*

i'm about to move from a state with a big response to covid-19 to a state in which kids are in school and wearing a mask is likely to get you in more trouble than not wearing one

Thank you for putting this into words.

Who the fuck has a wedding in the middle of a pandemic? Selfish idiots.

You rent the hall a year in advance and arrange to have the invites printed a long time in advance as well. Maybe if POTUS was helping us regular folk deal with the pandemic there would be useful advice on weddings.

Decide for yourself whether faster, less accurate testing of everyone on campus is going to work

Link from above article concluding that people are infectious 1.8 days before symptoms.

Car ran out of gas. She drank her coffee and had to pee. She went into the woods and got lost. She will never tell anyone because it is too embarassing.

Thats what the employee told me, was saying that because it had a valve it wasnt acceptable. Meanwhile half of their employees had their mask around their chin breathing through their nose and half the customers only had a bandana. I guess next time i have to go i will just cover it up with a bandana or something.

Costco's has stuff I like - in my case pirogi, basil pesto, lox with honey mustard, tzaziki - and a decent selection of other stuff.

I will try to remember to bring a bandanna the next time I go.

Costco employee told me that wearing n95 wasnt allowed today. Meanwhile many of their own employees didnt even have their fucking mask covering their nose.

So on www.costco.com there is a blue feedback tab vertically on the middle of the right side.

Hey guys let's just say you're in an argument with someone that is denying the severity of Covid with things like "just the flu" "if there was a vaccine it would be even less than the flu" and "the cases are only looking so bad because we're testing more"

What statistics, numbers, and just basic things can you point out to dismantle the claim and try to get it through their head?

I'm just wondering cause I've sorta found myself in that situation.

Arguing with him is exposing you to possible coronavirus infection. Are you taking it serious?

While I agree, the logistics of this would be a nightmare. A judge has already sentenced them so they would need a new trial or at least a means to revisit their previous case. This means more court fees for everybody involved. Time, taxpayer money.

Decriminalization is the best the judicial system can handle, sadly. Retroactivly applying verdicts is completely unrealistic in a practical sense.

Congrats on legalization, btw.
as you say, going forward. *sigh*

Maybe an amendment to the state constitution?
