Starbucks employee wouldn't serve her because she didn't have a mask. So she took his picture, put it on Facebook, and wrote a post to shame him. People rallied behind the employee with a gofundme, and she's now trying to get a cut of that.

I also don't do great with interviews, and luckily I got my current job while skipping the interview. I was just out of college, and a random contractor company found my resume on Monster and called me, I didn't even apply for this job. We did the normal 10 minutes of tell me about yourself and go over the resume, and they tell me about the job. That was on Thursday. On Monday I got a phone call saying I got the job. No interview besides that 10 minutes, just a conversation and a resume is all they wanted.

He then asked for my birthday and SSN for a background check, which is normal for new hires. And once I hung up the phone I thought "my identity just got stolen" because that all happened so fast and all I did was talk to a guy for 10 minutes and not even have an actual interview. But no, I've been at the job for 2 years now and I just recently got a call about moving from contractor to direct employee because I'm apparently one of the top contractors in our group, so everything is going great even without an actual interview.

markconigliaro
06/24/20 2:45:09 PM
#26
Yes it's a grind, but it often isn't a mindless grind. It's not the type of grind where you can be half on your phone and spam the attack button, it's the kind where you need to actually play the game because (depending on the monster) there's always a chance of losing.

The loop is fight monster, get materials (random, fight monster again if not enough/wrong materials), use materials to get bigger weapon and armor, fight bigger monster with new gear, repeat. You don't need to grind out a full set of armor for every monster since they all come with abilities, and if you don't care about those abilities you can just skip the set. For the base game I think I had 4 or 5 armor sets through out the entire game, maybe twice as many weapons as that. So don't think that you need to grind a new set before fighting every monster, because you'll likely be fighting ~20 monsters before thinking about getting new gear.

I'm not going to say anything about the current conversation, but people get the Dylann Roof Burger King story completely wrong all time.

No, he was not brought to Burger King, he was in the police station and said he was hungry and hadn't eaten in days. If they denied him food, everything he says could be thrown out of court because he could have argued that he was under duress. So they radio'd a cop and asked him to grab some food. Roof wasn't in the car, they didn't go in the drive thru together, they just brought him food so he would talk and it would hold in court.

When people make topics talking about twitch or YouTube channels, one of the common complaints is that they are not worth watching because you don't learn anything. I don't understand that, can't you just watch something to be entertained? Why do you need to learn something? Why do you need to see someone dominate the game? Most people I watch (on YouTube, never watched a live twitch stream) are average gamers who have a fun personality. That's common with a lot of people's fans, they watch the stream/video for the person, not the game. That's why some people can play any game they want and still have a decent amount of views. Just today I put on a let's play while I did Xenoblade Chronicles side missions.

I also can't get into playthroughs that are not blind. If they know the game already, it's just so boring to watch. In a blind play through, you get to sort of relive those moments through their reactions and comments. Like I'll watch just about any playthrough of Danganronpa because it's fun watching the person get attached to characters and their reactions to their inevitable death. It doesn't have to be story moments, it could be gameplay too. Like I'm currently watching a Doom Eternal play through and its fun watching them get hyped over a new demons glory kill animation.

I've always said that the perfect gamefaqs video is 10 seconds long, black screen with white text, silent, bullet points, and state facts. Everyone is ugly and everyone has a cringy voice, so no faces or voices, it's short, it's to the point, and you learn something.

How much should I be side questing really?

The general consensus has been accept every sidequest and don't purposely complete any of them unless it has a reward you want (most of them are just gold/exp). So you play the game naturally and occasionally you'll get a little exp boost because you accidentally completed a quest.

In the remake, they've improved the quest system by adding markers so you don't have to spend half your time googling locations. They appear right on the map so you can take a small detour to complete them. But it's still the same, accept every quest and do whatever crosses your path.

Personally though. I've always thought grading homework at all is a scam and a form of busy work. It all should be optional. Homework is just structured and directed studying. How much or how well a student does it should be up to the student -- like all forms of studying. All that should matter is performance on tests, quizzes, and research/term papers. If you're using homework as a way to prepare a student for classroom discussion, sure fine. Grade the student on their ability to participate and contribute. I'm fine with that, but if a student can still be productive in the classroom without doing homework, more power to them.

That. I used Chegg for most of my 9 years at college, not constantly, but as a resource when I'm stuck. For a large majority of my classes the homework was a tiny percentage of the final grade. It was actually impossible to pass most classes if you copied 100% of the homework but didn't understand the material, as you'd get destroyed on tests. I've had a lot of classes where your entire grade was based on 4 tests, and we had optional ungraded homework. They did not care if you did the homework in group, straight copied other peoples work, or used online resources, because if you didn't understand the material then you fail. When you only have 4 tests, failing 1 of them puts you in a very bad situation. And on those tests there are only 3 problems, so if you do bad on 1 problem on 1 test you might fail the entire class, this specific teacher had a not so good reputation around campus.

It's perfectly fine to copy from sites like Chegg as long as you understand everything (or almost everything) about the problems before turning it in. Even when homework was graded, it was always at maximum 20% of the grade, usually around 10% though. So if you get a perfect grade on all the homeworks but don't actually understand the words and numbers you copied, you're not passing the class. If you're actually trying to understand the material, even after copying there is still a lot of time looking through textbooks and emailing/sitting with teachers, so it's not a free ride to a diploma. A lot of those Chegg answers are bad, poorly written, skipping steps, just plain wrong, or using a different method that you didn't learn. I'd even say a majority of answers I've found were just unusable, but they often had something to help me out such as a formula I missed or an assumption I didn't think of.

No. I don't get how it's the same when all the others have been eliminated and don't matter anymore.

Then don't think of it as the doors being eliminated, think of it as the host picking all those doors as a single group, and the host wins if the prize is in any of those doors. You get 1 door, the host gets 999 doors. The host then offers to trade his 999 doors for your single door. Obviously his group has a better chance of winning, so you switch.

Same with 3 doors. You get 1 door, the host gets 2. He offers to trade your single door for his 2 doors, and if either of those two doors have the prize, you win.

Or it's behind what I already picked. You are either right or wrong once everything else has been eliminated.

Using the million door version, in order for you to be right, you had to guess one in a million. Obviously it's incredibly unlikely that you hit that one in a million. Now when the host removes all doors except door number 359,228 and tells you either that door is correct, or your one in a million door is correct. You always switch, everytime. You can't boil down the lottery to "you either win or lose, so it's 50-50".

Another way to think of it is you vs the host. The host is a cheater and will always, 100% of the time pick the winning door unless you originally picked it. So you pick your one in a million door, completely random, and then the host can pick the winning door if it's still available, which has a 999,999/1,000,000 chance to still be available. Can you say this game is fair and that it's a 50-50 on if the host wins or I do? No, the host knows the correct door, so by switching your basically taking their door from them, that they cheated to get.

Also it helps that she's done a lot of basically nude photoshoots/videos before.

I don't get the argument that an easy mode would be too easy and ruin new player experiences. To you yes, person who has already beaten the game, but to a person who needs/wants an easy mode it can still be hard. These people are not good at games, or at least this type of game, but they might want to still play it because of story, asthetics, cool designs, or even because they like the combat but are bad at it. A person playing easy mode souls still needs to learn the game mechanics and will still die a lot because their general skill is much lower than yours. Tough enemies will still exist and roadblocks will still exist since the players expected skill is much lower.

I know someone who can't play Bloodborne but loves the setting and creature designs, so they watched a whole playthrough. Some people don't care about the "git gud" combat of the series, they just want to play the game and see the cool stuff. And they can still like the combat while also being bad at it.

How can you earn match tokens if you can't play the game without paying.

It's such a weird system. I'm assuming that the better you play the more match tokens you earn. So if you have a shit game (and that's probably pretty likely at first) you'll barely earn any. So you probably won't want to play more anywya.

The initial $6 charge is what really confuses me. Why?

How it works is you pay $6 for the game and you get one free match per day. In order to get tokens, you need to WIN, and winning gets you 1 token. 1 token = 1 match. There's no scale based on how well you do, you get 1 for a win. So unless you're on a win streak, you can't keep playing the game for free.

You can buy 3 tokens for a dollar, or 20 for $5. But why do that when you can get a 7 day "subscription" for unlimited plays for $2, or a month "subscription" for $6?
