Mace Windu. Darth Maul. Qui-Gon.
Amidala. An entire army of Jango clones that got a whole cartoon series.
Jar Jar

Mace Windu wasn't important and barely did anything in the prequel movies

Darth Maul had like two lines

Qui-Gon is the one who believes Anakin is the chosen one and dies in the first movie so it can then be about Anakin and Obi-Wan in the sequels

Jango Fett is Boba Fett's Dad and the Clone Army are revealed to basically be an army of Boba Fetts. The cool guy from the OT.

Amidala literally dies of a broken heart giving birth because Anakin turned evil. Which also contradicts Leia knowing her mother.

Jar Jar is Jar Jar

The prequel trilogy also revealed;
- Anakin was the chosen one that was supposed to bring balance to the force and has power levels off the chart
- Palpatine created Anakin
- Anakin built C-3PO

In the first Star Wars movie Darth Vader answered to Thrawn.

This whole 'the Skywalkers (and Palpatine? are the most important people in the galaxy ever' went full force because of the stuff established in the prequels. That whole mindset lead to people believing that Rey could only be powerful if she was related to someone else.

The main trilogy had a ton of great characters like Obi Wan, Yoda, Boba Fett etc.
To say them being about the skywalkwrs stunted them is a really bad view that ignores the first 6 movies and just thinks on the st.

The OT was sure.

But the prequels had the same problem.

There has been hundreds if not thousands of stories not centered around Skywalker. But the main trilogy films should always be about them. This is one big reason I didn't like the sequels because Darth Vader had zero plot presence

Eh I disagree. The biggest failing of the ST was them cowering away from moving on and setting up something new.

If Disney want the franchise to continue they don't really have a choice. The universe feels so damn small because they can't move on from characters established decades ago and the new important people have to be related to them.

The movies are always going to be the main event. By making the movies solely about Skywalkers and friends they're not really giving anything else a chance to be seen as important on a grander scale.

Surely him saying 'guys if I didn't spend the last 10 years preparing this army after the Naboo invasion we would be dead so you all should be thanking me.' is less suspicious than 'Guys we've found this mysterious clone army so we're gonna use them.' as the Jedi have to conveniently ignore that they're linked to the Separatists.

This is an absurd argument given the size of Australia, how sparsely populated it is, and the climate that Australia has always had. If you quadrupled the number of firefighters and tripled their pay the fires would still happen. What is happening in Australia is basically the public turning on their leader because of bad weather and climate scientists holding their nose and joining the bandwagon even though they know it is ridiculous they realize that it is easier to get people to take action on climate change if you pretend like "the weather has been bad therefore the leader has lost the mandate of heaven" type shit works while actually explaining that 90% of events like this would happen in Australia climate change or not and 99.99% of these events would happen no matter who was elected Prime Minister.

The way Australian are reacting it seems like they actually believe that the climate gods will spare them the effects of fire and drought if they make offerings and embrace green energy. Its ridiculous.

Scott Morrison's big moment before being Prime Minister was bringing coal into Parliament and saying it isn't scary. He has ignored the RFS calls for meetings all throughout last year to prepare for the fire season. His first official recognition of the bushfires was stating that the cricket was going to be good for firefighters. He went on a vacation overseas while saying it wasn't his job to hold a hose. He wrote an article for New Years Day telling Australians not to worry so much and that our country is a great place to raise kids. He ordered military action to help with the fires but failed to inform the RFS about it. They found out when he released a PR video about his response to the fires.

Nobody is blaming him for the fires. They're criticizing his attitude and reaction to them. Morrison doesn't want to talk about climate change because he is focused on supporting the coal industry. This means he cannot treat this as a problem and consistently downplays what is happening. The Liberal Party line is to claim that bushfires are a part of Australian life and that we can't do anything about it. They have not once referenced that this year is the worst fire season on record and it is consistently getting worse. Never mind actually presenting any ideas to make our country safer for the future.

I think the single most nonsense plot of the entire series is the dagger in TROS.

The dagger points to one (of three?) waypoints that map out the direction to the Sith planet. In order to use it you need to translate the language on it while also standing in a certain position while looking at the Death Star (which is typically supposed to be in space).

For some reason this dagger is given to the assassin who is hired to kill Rey and her parents. He finds Rey's parents immediately after she is sold and she watches his ship fly away with her parents. For whatever reason he was not bothered to investigate what they were immediately doing when he found them.

This is a series that is filled with obvious retcons and twists that you need to stretch some dialogue and belief to work (I didn't lie your father was dead in a sense) and yet most of that plot is within the one movie. When it comes to fitting in Palpatine's overall plan throughout the sequel trilogy? Oh boy.

Runner up would be the Jango Fett/Obi-Wan plot in Attack of the Clones.

I think the flaw with the Arkham style combat in general is that it doesn't really work well for bosses as it's more designed for dealing with groups of enemies.

Wrong. You can tell by the OT that Yoda isn't the same man he was in the PT.

Emotions =/= dark side

Giving in to fear, anger, hate and things like that just lead you down a volatile path. Imagine someone having super powers. Little by little they do bad things and get away with it. Eventually they may straight up take over the Galaxy because they believe no one can stop them.

My absolute favourite interpretation is that the Jedi's belief that attachments and emotion lead to the dark side lead to their downfall. That whatever replaces them will learn from their mistakes and build a better order.

The Last Jedi sort of implies some of this.

God damn it's pretty embarrassing how much better this 15 year old game is compared to the Battlefront 2 campaign. You've got actual, thoughtful level design that pushes you to positioning your team and pushing forward. You've got varied enemies and combat scenarios. Battlefront 2 basically just puts you in an area and floods you with enemies. Felt like the campaign never really found its footing until Jakku and you're nearly done. The DLC was an improvement but not by much.

Republic Commando is basically Star Wars Halo and I think that suits the franchise really well. The whole context sensitive command thing with your team is pretty clever and I'm surprised we haven't really seen that built on in modern shooters. It streamlines a squad based game really well. I'm up to Kashyyk and I think I'm near the end. My only criticism with Republic Commando is that since the game is only set in three planets sometimes it feels a bit long in the tooth.

This was very intentional for Lucas, though. He's said in interviews that beneath the facade of spaceships, blasters and lightsabers, it's really a story about family and family-related problems.

Obviously Star Wars has become something broader than that, but that was what he had in mind.

Sure but I think that was covered enough by Luke and Vader. Leia didn't really add anything but I guess they needed someone after the whole 'there is another'

It wouldn't matter as much if they didn't make the Skywalker bloodline into some mega important thing in the prequel.
