I guess you could call it that. Described that way, Im thinking it would wind up being too subjective a criteria to apply to live action, whereas its pretty easy to score how good the animation quality is.

Ill probably just stick with the extra factor for animated. My concern arose from not wanting to shortchange intros with high quality animation that dont do anything particularly unique.

As Im starting to go through and score these, I decided I need to add a fifth factor to account for the quality of animation, which really isnt covered by any other factor. The trouble is that doesnt work for live action intros. So Im considering some kind of aesthetic factor that covers how good or artistic the intro looks to cover both animated and live action. Im not sure how well thatll work yet.

Does anyone have any thoughts as to whether I should try to apply some visual factor for live action or leave it as is?

I tried for awhile. Could not find anything. I'll keep looking, but it's pretty sparse, mostly fan-remakes.

EDIT: And by mostly, I mean like there's about three and the rest are soundtracks, scenes from episodes, and a dearth of actual Friday Night Lights content.

A good intro for a TV show is a lot like good cover art. It has to grab your interest right away and give you some idea what to expect even if you know nothing going in. And the best of intros can tell you a meaningful story within the span of about a minute.

To keep this at least partly objective, I will be ranking intros based on these criteria: (1) originality, (2) story, (3) music (not just the quality of the theme song, but also how well the music sets the tone and goes with the visuals), and (4) how much I liked the intro personally. Generally, intros that are just a series of clips from the show are going to score poorly, although there are always exceptions.

You may nominate up to four intros for either animated or live action shows. You should post a YouTube link for each intro. Nominations will automatically end whenever this reaches 100 intros, unless I decide to expand it.

As I always do with rankings, I plan to finish the write-ups before posting. So it could be a little while before a ranking topic goes up.

Real life stuff plus a nagging injury has got in the way of me making progress on the project. I still intend for it for happen in the future but I can't guarantee it will definitely happen now.

Sorry to hear about your injury, I hope youre doing okay. I understand completely about real life getting in the way, Ive had to abandon or delay my fair share of projects before.

Its been a really long time since Ive done a ranking topic (literally years), but I feel like I could use the diversion.

Im considering a few ideas, but Im open to suggestions. Im not looking for anything too complicated or time-consuming, just a fun little project. Let me know if you like any of these ideas or have another suggestion for me.

1. TV Show Intros: This would be a ranking of user nominated intros from TV shows (animated or live action). Id probably use some kind of scoring system like I used to do with my cover art rankings.
2. Anything Disney Related: I did this once a long time ago. Users could nominate Disney movies, songs, TV shows, characters, theme park rides, etc. Im not sure where I stand on things like MCU and Star Wars, but Id lean towards allowing them.
3. Anything from the 90s: Indulging my nostalgia for the 1990s, this would be a ranking of user nominated games, music, movies, shows, trends, or whatever from the 90s.
4. Cover Art: Ive done this twice before and it always turned out well. It would be a ranking of user nominated cover art for anything, movies, games, albums, etc.

Jesse, or ahirsch, was one of my favorite users on the board, but I think the occasional spats of drama got to him more than they even got to me. It's too bad because we shared so many things in common, and I always enjoyed our conversations about anything. We even worked together on a silly board project that ended up being one of my favorites. I fondly look back at our Fight Scenes project wistfully, wishing Jesse was still an active poster on the board. He has every once and a while reared his head once more and he always has nothing but nice things to say, really, until he disappears once more. I think one of the worst things about a message board is the ability for great users to suddenly and without warning disappear. It honestly can hurt a lot.

I was actually around today to catch this post! I also miss our regular conversations, and remember our fight scenes project as one of the best Ive worked on. Im not the easiest person to really get to know, but you always seemed to understand me.

Obviously Im not the type to make a big thing about leaving, but I am sorry about my vanishing act. And I cant say Im necessarily going to be around more in the future, but seeing your post made me want to be!
