The atmosphere and music are pretty damn great. Any time I have an urge to play the game I just put on the soundtrack and that cures the itch. They're better than the final product IMO. The 2nd half after the map gets inverted is a step down. Also the fact that only one music track was used for this portion of the game is so dumb.

It's an awesome game but it's more in the vain of the 2D Metroid games. Also, the 2nd half of the game kind of sucks. But the first half is top notch.

Yeah but the thing is that Metallica did not want to be "that" band anymore. They intentionally branched out from their thrash roots. They got a bit caught up in the arms race with Puppets and Justice but they wanted to slow down and decompress after that.

There are articles from the late 80's and early 90's that verify that info. Straight from the band's mouths.

I also didn't get into the scene or metalcore stuff in high school outside of a few songs here and there. I liked some A7X, Killswitch, AFI but never liked MCR or other stuff. I never went deep with it and I didn't dress the part.

Anyway, my gateway to metal was Iron Maiden. I didn't have much tolerance for harsher vocals or breakneck speed other than the gateway stuff. Even Metallica / Megadeth / Slayer were a bit beyond my reach until a few years later.

My first big awakening was the alternative stuff from the early 90's (ie. the grunge 4, Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails, Tool). That stuff opened me up to a lot more stuff past and present.

I agree on Hetfield being the best thrash vocalist. He is my benchmark for that music. And the funny thing is that they branched out pretty quickly after Kill 'Em All. Outside of select songs, I don't really think of Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets to be thrash metal. And yet I think he is far and away the genre's best singer. And let's not start talking about the riffs either.

And BTW, the Black Album bangs hard.

As for Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, I like Maiden more. I've seen Maiden 3 times and Priest 2 times. I like Maiden more stylistically. Priest has a lot of dad rock material and I like the more harder edge metal stuff. Iron Maiden's run from 1980 to 1988 is the best run in metal along with Metallica's first 5 and Black Sabbath first 5 or 6. I am not as well-versed in JP to make a judgement about their old output but they're still great.

The Joe "outrage" is just another establishment shot at him. He's untethered to the institutional narrative and associating him with the candidates that they hate is convenient for them.

Meanwhile, Biden has some serious allegations against him, and no one is covering it. And no, not the mental decline. A woman lobbed some serious accusations at a mentally declining man that disappears for days at a time in the midst of an election race.

People who fall for these hit pieces are laughable. Go back to your news anchors and your blue checkmark stooges. I'll stick with the pothead who hangs out with scientists and his comedian buddies and thinks independently.
