I just don't understand why it's so difficult for some people to stay home and inside

Obviously people think we have raised the healthcare capacity up enough that gradual reopening wont overwhelm the healthcare system.

The goal was never to shut down until we had a cure or a vaccine.

But again, if we are able to prevent hospital visits at all, why shouldn't we? Why stop at the absolute minimum?

Why do people keep using the "hospitals are not overwhelmed" meme? That's only because of the lockdowns. Opening up will have the reverse effect. And if we can save more lives and keep people from getting sick by keeping things shut down, why wouldn't we? Why wouldn't we strive to keep as many people as healthy as possible?

This is a microcosm of the country. We need to re-shut down, this time at a federal level that is enforced.

With the internet, there's a lot of options to start your own business remotely.

People can get new jobs, they can't get a new life.

Because you have to make compromises and you end up with the worst of both worlds. It's not as powerful as a desktop but not portable enough to be a laptop

It is what it is, people still have bills to pay and the world isn't a charity these people want their money so you have to work for your money because to stimulus checks are only going to the corporations and very few of the populace, especially now. Even more so that now it's become "these lazy takers just want the government to give them everything" narrative is being spun

Maybe people need to adapt and find a way to make money in the situation they're in. This is new for all of us. Government needs to do more but so do people.

At some point, we just need to shut down again. It's the only way to get this under control.

You're free to stay home if you don't want to wear a mask. Honestly, people should be staying home still anyways

A plan to reopen in stages, no more than 25% capacity for all businesses
A specific plan to re-shutdown pending well defined metrics

This is a bare minimum. Its not unrealistic by any means.

You know life is not without risk. So I assume all of you will no longer drive cars after this because you might get into an accident. Like you know we never developed a vaccine for a corona virus? The family of colds. Probably because it mutates too quick unlike the flu which is seasonal. So then what? What happens if we can't develop a vaccine? What's the next step? Stay inside forever? Because if you can't see why some people would get conspiracy theories over something like that then you're daft.

There's a lot more consequences to staying at home for over a year than just the economy. The whole life ecosystem. People who would normally meet people at work or school no longer will. How many future relationships that'll produce children won't happen? Or people who meet at clubs or bars. None of that will happen for a while in some places.

At some point, people like this will need to accept that our culture is changing, and you can either adapt or be left behind. Service industries are dying, working and interacting with others is being done remotely. These are all changes that were in progress; corona just sped up the timeline.

Is she qualified in any way?

Everyone should be given a summons regardless of skin color and promptly escorted back to their homes.

People already meet online. It's just instead of physically meeting at a coffee shop after chatting for some time, you have a virtual meet up with cameras.

People can have virtual dates. People just need to accept that sacrifices will need to be made. Physically dating is a luxury that is not needed at the current time.

By the time black Friday comes, stores will be forced shut from the second wave. We need to keep the shutdowns going.

You're not going to have a choice. Stores are already limiting how much you can buy. Resources like food are going to have to be rationed out and allocated going forward. Beef is just the beginning.

People and society are going to have to adapt sooner than later. We don't need to eat three times a day, meat is a luxury. People will have to get what is available and no longer what they want

At this point we really need a clear federal shutdown that is enforced. Online delivery only.

This is why the shelter in place orders need to continue. Reopening will only make things worse.

Many states have a stay at home order though at least may but it seems that many people are breaking quarantine because the weather is getting nice and generally tired of quarantine. What can the government do to encourage people to continue to stay at home because it's obviously way too soon to act like "business as usual"

This is a very ignorant post. You can't just ignore what's happening in the world because it's inconvenient.

This is to be expected. Unless it's covid or life threatening, no one should be going to the hospital.

People really shouldn't be flying right now anyways.

Government needs to do more but at some point people need to adapt and find sources of income that is realistic in this new world. Many industries such as service are just not viable anymore. Working remotely, online business, delivery, curbside service are the future.

Exactly what we need to do in the States.

This is how I feel. As long as people continue to keep their own personal space, that's all we can really ask for. It would be nice to be given masks, but unless they do it shouldn't be enforceable.

There's no reason why people can't obtain their own or could just make their own. We're not asking for medical grade equipment, just something that will contain a person's droplets.

I think WI goes until at least the end of May.

No. We all need to adapt to the new normal and yes, that includes eating patterns. Less meat will be available, that's just the way it is now.
