Even with replays, sometimes it can be hard to say 100%. Sometimes both sides could look at the replay and see different things, and someone has to make the call. Most sports have the ref call by default, but there are rules where the team can challenge and go to a replay if they think the ref made a bad call right? That seems like the best way to do it.

And while we're at it we can subject the ones who don't become corrupt to horrible, sadistic torture?"

You literally said they were passengers in a car. A passenger literally cannot maneuver a vehicle.

You're literally arguing they are incapable of participating.

Yikes.
American society is structured to make it so white men are the ones who participate, while women and minorities cannot. Traditionally they can only take secondary and/or supporting roles--somewhat similar to how a passenger can do little to influence a car's driving (they can do a little, though, such as caution the driver or help with navigation). 100 years ago, the people in positions of power like politicians, executives, and wealthy landowners were almost exclusively white. It's gotten better but still skewed very much towards white people.

It is indeed true that they are not able to participate as much as white males. 50 years ago they were openly prevented from doing so. Black people were denied the right to vote, and women were heavily discouraged from entering the workplace. And today, positions of power and influence are still disproportionately in the hands of white people.

That's what my analogy was getting at.

I feel like you're trying to use what you see as liberal "wokeness" against me and failing miserably. Maybe if you understood how liberals actually saw the world you would do better.

Almost no one thinks all white people are bad. However many people do think that almost all problems in the USA and most problems globally are the fault of white people. And they are, because white people are the ones who have all the power. The vast majority of people with power and influence in the last couple of centuries have been white so it stands to reason that the problems are their fault.

I mean, if a car gets in an accident, you blame the driver right? You don't blame the people sitting in the back and passenger seats, who don't have power to control things.

Well @DarkBuster22904 you wouldn't actually be helping anyone by choosing the second option--just moving to a different timeline where COVID-19 never happened. No one would die based on you taking the money. You would just stay in the current timeline. So I don't think either choice is more selfish than the other.

If it were eliminating COVID-19 in this timeline and making it so all the death and suffering never happens, obviously I would take that.

But since it's just me jumping to another timeline, and no one would actually be saved by this choice, then I'd rather have the money.

EDIT: Although now that I think about it I would be very afraid of a monkey's paw type situation where someone I loved died right after I made the choice, so maybe I'd take the no COVID-19 option after all.

wait what the fuck. Are you saying a decent amount of japanese rape porn out there is real?
Well not legally. I think that pretty much all of it is things that they agreed to do. The directors just make it a point to make it as horrible and traumatic for them as possible so that the reaction is the same as it would be if it were real.

It's not "real" in the sense that they aren't being forced to do it, but the reactions and the trauma are very real. Also a lot of it probably involves manipulating them, deceiving them, or bullying them, so the legality would be questionable if you looked into it.

By the way I am talking mostly about porn from 10 or more years ago. And even then the majority of it was consensual. I mean if we're talking overall percentage, I would say back then it was 75% consensual, 20% rape themed but clearly acting, and 5% looked like the woman was really being traumatized.

These days it's probably more like 85% consensual, 14% rape themed but they're acting, and 1% seems genuinely traumatic.

Also back in the 2000s any porn star with a really big career would do the realistic stuff but these days I don't think any of the mainstream stars do. They're mostly done by small operations that take advantage of amateurs.

It used to be worse honestly. In the 2000s there were so many videos where the object was to physically and psychologically traumatize the actress. They wanted real tears.

WalkingLobsters posted...
It took 17 films before authorities stepped in. Where the fuck were their agents?
When something is established as being normal, other people will go along with it. That's how we are psychologically. Both the agents and the actresses probably saw this as a necessary part of the industry. And because it's so stigmatized, the law doesn't like to intervene. Suing a company or your agent is almost impossible because the courts want to pretend you don't exist.

I guess the only small comfort is that, like I said, it does seem to be getting better. Not fast enough, but at least it's getting better. The big mainstream companies still make movies with nonconsensual sex but they feel a lot more like actors playing a part and not like you're watching a real crime take place. For example S1, one of the most mainstream companies, rarely has anything like rape and when they do it's very obviously scripted with little if any violence and no tears from the actress.

The smaller studios still put out some terrible stuff but they're definitely less numerous than they used to be.

action52
05/08/20 11:11:23 AM

If it's your first time having sex with a woman, you absolutely should ask her at some point. Obviously you don't need to have a lawyer and a signed contract. Just say things like "Hey, we don't have to go any further if you're not comfortable," and "are you sure you want to keep going?"

If it's someone you're already sexually active with, then nonverbal cues are enough.

Don't think of it as "It's rape if you don't ask her." Think of it as just common courtesy. Think of it as something you're doing to make her feel better.

Yes, there is a gray zone when it comes to sexual consent. But as far as I'm concerned, if you're getting anywhere near the gray zone then you're doing it wrong. Ask yourself, what is your goal?

A. To do whatever it takes to have sex with her.

B. To make the experience a satisfying one that she feels good about afterwards.

If your main goal is B, then you should only be having sex if it seems like she really wants to. And you should always ask her if you're escalating things significantly higher than they've ever been before, just to make sure.

And that's not even deep dish, it's stuffed pizza! Which I like better than deep dish by the way.

I will say that most of the pizza I had in Italy was good but not mind-blowing. The only really great pizza I had was this one restaurant called Di Matteo in Naples.

For me personally, the ranking is:

square cut = Di Matteo >>>> average Italian pizza >>>>> stuffed pizza >>> deep dish pizza >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Pizza Hut > most American chain pizza places >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Domino's > Papa John's >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Domino's before they changed the recipe

I consider anything above Domino's to be good, and I don't think even the old Domino's Pizza was terrible.

For the record, I have had terrible pizza once. It was this little dive I forget the name of in a strip mall by my parents' house. We ordered it once and no one could eat more than a few bites. We still can't figure out how that place stayed in business for so long.

You say that but... she's getting the money because she got people to watch her. That is an accomplishment, and in fact there are thousands of people vying for the same thing that will never get it. I find it hard to believe that it's 100% luck. Or even that and looks. Persistence, charisma, personality, coming up with ideas... there are a lot of things that go into it.

Anyway people act like people like that don't "deserve" the money... but then who does? Because the app is making lots of money in things like ad revenue. Should the executives and stockholders get ALL the money while the people who work hard to make the app successful get nothing?
