I think it's fucking sad that there's an environment like this where people don't realize joking about rape is bad, but that's what it is. It's not a defense, it's a statement on how shitty the wrestling community has been.

Well, for one, I think the people going "I didn't think it was wrong!" about horrible acts of sexual abuse are making excuses and trying to cover their own asses, so no, I don't really believe this was some culture where everybody stopped growing at 12 years old and literally didn't know what they were doing is bad.

The problem isn't that nobody knew what they were doing was wrong. The problem is that nobody gave a shit that what they were doing was wrong. And that is a very important difference.

That's not a case of "not knowing better." That's a case of just knowing you can get away with it.

It's like when you're a teenager and you speak differently around your friends than you would your mother. You don't swear around your mother because you know it's not a good thing to do, but you swear around your friends because nobody cares.

Saying one "doesn't know any better" is taking away accountability a little bit when it shouldn't be.

One thing I appreciate is in Infinity War when the Guardians fight Iron Man/Spiderman/Strange, Star-Lord almost beats Iron Man/Spiderman singlehandedly with simple tricks because they don't seem to know how to deal with him once he stops just shooting lasers back at them.

EDIT: It's also what makes him the first one to land an effective hit on Thanos in the first battle.

The argument is pretty silly.

For one, the cop switches his taser to his other hand and starts reaching for his gun before the guy even points the taser back at him. And then there's the fact that it's very obviously a taser, big and clunky and yellow, much like the one the cop himself is holding, so it in no way looks like a gun. No way sounds like a gun when shot, either. And the cop in question doesn't react as if he thinks he's being shot at by a real gun at all. He doesn't duck for cover or try to put the car he's right next to between him and the guy. He remains upright and finishes unholstering his gun. The only movement he makes is to the side a bit, which seems like a pretty weak reaction to one who thinks they're being shot at with a real gun, but a pretty expected reaction from somebody that knows it's a taser.

There's a valid argument of "They're trained to react that way to a taser" that Wang is presenting, which highlights its own set of problems.

"He may have thought it was a real gun!" seems to just be projecting an excuse on to the cop.

I don't think the issue was ever that it was ambitious

It's that it's pointless. They're not crafting any special kind of message with this. They're not making any kind of point about anything that hasn't already been made. They're intentionally trying to be divisive and controversial for no other reason than to be divisive and controversial. I mean, they've even been hyping up said divisiveness and controversy ahead of release themselves.

It's a game that's designed to make you feel like shit and basically punish you for being a fan of the first game.

Yeah, I'd agree with that. A game being outdated isn't an issue. But when it's taking the "artistic" approach and trying to say something with the message it's giving, then yeah, if that message is outdated than it falls flat in a negative way.

It's not really saying "This game isn't reflecting 2020 and that's bad."

It's saying "At this age in 2020, I'm kinda over needless hatred and violence," which TLoU2 has in absolute droves. It'd be like the reaction to when every game was trying to be Mortal Kombat at a time when people were kinda getting sick of Mortal Kombat.

The main difference is that when you run out of FP you don't need to grind coins and hit a shop to replenish yourself. Maybe you're provided with a ton of items and it'll be okay but at first glance it sounds tedious.

I mean you buy FP replenishing items for battles anyway, and dropping FP flowers after battles was replaced with dropping battle cards after battles in SS/CS, so it's more similar than you think.

The biggest problem with SS/CS was that it was possible to run out of attacks, period, which made you want to avoid battles. If it's not possible to run out of attacks, then that problem is gone and it's just another form of "FP" upkeep for stronger attacks.
