You ever tried bringing up the topic of mens rights on a female-dominated feminism board? Nothing but ridicule. Its all male tears are delicious or you must be a virgin living in your Moms basement kind of responses.

They dont take it seriously and theres a good chance you get banned, blocked or ignored, if you try to continue pushing it for civil discussion.

Anyway, I am not religious but I live around a lot of Christians. Their belief is on a very personal level, so I am careful of what I say around them. They also take politics seriously and sports is below that, but Im not afraid of getting physically hurt if we debate those topics. Religion is a totally different thing and just laughing about it is dangerous. I accept that it could be very different in other places, like some people kill other sports teams fans, for example.

as far as i can tell, whenever people get "angry" in a discussion on religion, they're not actually discussing religion
more often than not, it has become a political discussion in a religion context.

like, no one get's actually angry over "and then Moses parted the red sea"

it's always shit like "let religious nuts make anti-abortion laws, yes or no?", "are Jehovas Witnesses weirdos?" "something something circumcision" and "someone made a picture of our prophet, i must kill"
those are politics

Wait, arent you Swedish? Do you get many opportunities to speak with devoutly religious people over there?

I do worry about my safety when the topic of religion comes up and I dont agree with what others are saying. Im talking about basic, core beliefs of Christians, like debating whether or not Jesus really did do any of the miracles hes credited with. I cant imagine how unwise it would be to do something comparable in a Muslim-majority nation.

One of the best things about Joe Rogan is that hes so productive as a content provider, and he has been for years. There was a period where it honestly seemed like he was pushing out podcasts every other day. These pretty much always involved a guest, even if it was just a comedian he knew, and now his episodes feature such a wide range of speakers. I dont think there are too many other podcasts that get scientists, theologians, professors, politicians, law enforcement, pro athletes and everything in between.

No.

Youre only considering whats happening now. I remember competing in Quake 2 tournaments in the late 90s and people were arguing back and forth about esports. A lot of the competitive community, which grew tremendously with the first StarCraft, Dota, and Counter-Strike, did not like being looked at as nerds (Aka those fucking nerds) and kept talking about our video game competitions as one day rivaling events like the Super Bowl or Olympics. They wanted legitimacy. But not all of us cared enough to get that validation, mainly because video games were our thing, not the mainstreams. Now? Of course everyone and their grandmother plays video games of some type, so IMO there is even less of a reason to cling to the esports label.

Its a gatekeeping issue. You can be supportive, but disagree on just one point and you might as well be a fucking Nazi to some. Of course that means your vote might either go to another team or you stay home on Election Day, which makes those same critics pout.

I dont think this applies to only one side either. A Republican nominee who agrees on more gun control, for example, probably would not get very far with huge swaths of conservative voters.

The notion that you have to have firsthand experiences of something to write about said experiences is nonsensical. Goodbye in that case to any sci-fi, fantasy, historical fiction, or crime story (for the most part for the latter).

I think the rebuttal would be that those examples are usually of people and places that are not actually real.

The offense seems to arise when someone speaks about experiences that are not perceived as authentic because the speaker is only remotely involved, at best a tourist or at worst a flat-out thief who is exploiting a situation they dont have ownership of and are not usually held accountable for. Anyway, civil debate as to the merits of all this tends to get thrown out the window because race and culture are a touchy subject for many people.

Man, what a bunch of doom and gloom in this topic. Ffs. Most of us live in the United States right? No one is promised a Mercedes and a milf but if you work hard, you can totally make it here. Dont you all have food and vehicles and the internet and smart phones? Video games and netflix, big tv's, a kickass animal friend, access to gyms and parks, malls and museums libraries, breweries dispensaries.... What the FUCK?

What dont you have that you want? Seriously tell me. Besides pussy maybe? That would cheer you up? Well pretty soon youll be able to buy that too, once we quit being wimps about sex, get it done Trump. Now

When was the last time you went hungry? Last year i was eating at a homeless shelter. And it was good as Fuck. In the rest of the world people are dying on the streets, starving, no clean water, being murdered and displaced by corrupt governments, blown up by religious extremists. And you think you got it bad??? Shut the fuck up! Id rather be homeless here than live somewhere else.

When i was growing up, we were so poor we used to go to this great burger stand called B Bops. And my mom would never, ever pay for cheese. She would take a cheese single we got from the poor grocery store and put it on a burger and that was a TREAT. To this day i will Not order a combo meal unless its a special occasion. You know why? Because i stay in my lane and i like it here. Kids used to make fun of us because we drove shitty vehicles. But i survived. And guess what? Now my parents are fucking loaded, we own our own ranch in one of the most beautiful states in the US and have everything we could ever want. And it feels so good because we Earned it.

Last year i was homeless too Catgirl Fondler. I didnt tell anyone. When i got out of jail i lived in my car for three months and worked two jobs. I washed my hair in the taco bell bathroom....... And it kicked fucking ass. I went to the library all the time to charge my phone and I did it all on my own because i didnt want to live with my parents. After I got settled in and got a raise, I quit one job and now i have my own apartment and i have rarely been so happy. In less than a year I did that. And I also am a felon and not particularly smart. Im good at talking and im scrappy, I dont give up, and thats about it. My job kicks ass and my boss is a mentor.

No wonder kids feel discouraged with wimps like us to look up to. Its our responsibility to inspire kids. And these sensitive teachers, I respect the hell out of what you do man, but if you cant see how great this country is you are Fucking Blind.

I agree with most of this. Hard work by itself wont make a perfect life, but you can achieve a lot by having goals and striving towards them.

Its not just the US that has a lot going for it. If you live in any developed nation, youre already ahead of the curve, when compared to the rest of the world. Maybe thats the problem- peoples perspective on what success means is warped. Its not a fair representation of what you do have or could have, if youre constantly comparing yourself to a millionaire or billionaire. Stop that. Figure out what you want and what it takes to get it, then do the work and network with the right people for the leverage you need. Also, dont sabotage yourself. Having a baby during or right after high school, for example, is most likely going to derail your plans.
