Definitely agree with some old posts saying they felt there were way too many songs with some of them being ill-timed. I was thinking that the entire movie. Wasn't a fan at all and actually preferred the character interactions more along with the gorgeous animation.

I remember when rumors of a sequel abounded articles were saying they were gonna bring back Hans and he was gonna be a good guy who was "just misunderstood" but I guess that idea was scrapped.

I guess it's nice that they tried to answer the questions of Elsa's powers and what their parents were doing since I bet fans were constantly pestering them about it. And it shows in this movie.

Songs were pretty eh overall. Which was the one everyone liked?

This is a thing with the tales of community on gamefaqs in general, lol. I have always called it the tales of cycle...I was around posting or lurking on each board back when each tales of game was getting localized, and on the message boards for the games it was pretty common for dudes (most of the time importers) hyping whatever tales of game that is stuck in japan only as being the holy grail, but when the game is finally localized, some dudes do a complete 180. Tales of graces f, xillia, xillia 2, and hearts r has been through it. Vesperia's ps3 port was definitely crazy hyped over the years. (Although there was still a good bit of us that was telling it like it is when it came to the story, because the story has always been meh/fell off a cliff in the last act. The vast majority of tales of stories is not really that good honestly). The game is still pretty fun to play (at least when you start getting all the passive skills and artes that really lets you have fun), but the hype can get out of hand for vesperia imo.

Tales of xillia 2's situation actually kind of pissed me off when it came to this. If you go back to the oldest topics on xillia 2's boards, the ones from back in 2012, you can spot a lot of praise in general for the game, how it fixed a lot of issues that xillia 1 had, the hype for the three new playable characters, the character development being sooo good, the gameplay being amazing and far greater any tales of game at this point, blah blah etc. etc. Fast forward to the localized release in 2014, and you can spot some of those same importers or whoever else praising the game back in 2012-2013 now pulling a 180 and absolutely dumping on the game. Its now the worst tales of game ever released, the plot makes no sense, the gameplay being absolute trash (with this one making no sense whatever...its actually an evolution of all the "team symphonia" style games at this point. This gameplay style has never been as fluid, combo friendly for every single character for these type of tales of games), the debt cripples the game, etc. etc.

I loved the game myself, with it still being by far my favorite tales of game because of dem combos, but man this game got absolutely trashed for awhile. Ever since tales of zestiria released, the hatred for xillia 2 kind of eased up a little, lol. In general, the hype and dude's expectations can definitely get out of hand when it comes to japanese only tales of games it feels like.
Honestly I haven't played any of the Tales games since Abyss since I wanted to first play Vesperia which never came out until just recently. So I completely missed out on those other ones that came out in between.

I got Berseria on sale because people said it was "one of the good ones" and that it was the successor to Vesperia/Team Symphonia type Tales games.

As for the other ones that came in between those titles, I honestly don't know if they're any good. They don't look particularly good, and the reviews about characters/story are negative, but appearances can be deceiving.

All I know for now is that Vesperia is fun from what I expect a Tales title to be. We'll see how that changes as the game goes on.

People keep saying Venom is the worst part but it's the Sandman/uncle ben's death retcon that is the worst part, and it's not even close. That 70s show actor as Venom is academy award worthy by comparison to that awful retcon to try to make Sandman relevant to the plot (also the whole "boo-hoo I have a sick daughter, that makes it ok to steal and I'm sympathetic right?" thing)

That being said, time has made spiderman 3 so bad it's good territory and if nothing else, it's definitely better than those garbage garfield spiderman movies.

Plus it basically gave us the hishe channel, so that's one point in its favor:

Also another hilarious plot point: The Schwann Brigade Captain, Captain Schwann, is Raven. But then he dies as soon as it's revealed so... lol? I mean it could be a fake out. Went to Zaphias since that's where the party said Alexei was heading with Estelle but nothing happened so not sure where to go now, I'll have to search around.

This all being said, the game is proving to me that no matter how generic, uninspired, or nonexistent a game's story seemingly is, it will still seem great and super fun if the characters are likable. The quality of a game's story won't matter if the characters aren't enjoyable to see, and in this case I like them, and have enjoyed the skits they have with each other.

God of War 2's obvious sequel hook cliffhanger is pretty ridiculous imo.

That being said, I'm kinda curious about this series again what with the ps4 reboot. I stopped after 3, having had enough, so never played ghost of sparta which had the story I actually wanted to see, kratos brother (who was hinted at in the very first game)

If you play the ps4 version please tell me what even is it. Is it the same kratos from the ps2 games, with a son instead of wife and daughter, is it a sequel where he somehow remarries and has another kid, what exactly is it and how is norse mythology explained, is it coexisting with greek mythology

In fact, got all the way to the "plot twist" that commander alexei is apparently a bad guy. Oh gee really.

As hilarious as that was (dude just kind of shows up randomly behind the group during a cutscene and is like "mwahaha I'm a bad guy" and then even more randomly Flynn shows up behind him and is like "commander how could you be such a bad guy" and that's where I took a break, being excited that Flynn is back in my party but disappointed that I have to rescue Estelle, because I want my team of Yuri/Estelle/Rita/Flynn again)

Anyway I can't wait to get to the next story segment and see where they go with it. It's one of those games that without looking it up I honestly don't have a sense with how far I am and how much is left to the ending, but I'm enjoying the ride. I can't understand how anyone would drop it. The battle system alone is worth going through the game and exploring all the environments. Plus I enjoy the skits as is Tales custom.

i've relegated it to an every other sunday sort of thing. it's great if done well and is something i will never give up completely, but it is definitely something that you don't want to be eating a majority of the time if you care about your health.

if you want a big hearty breakfast that is actually healthy, try scrambled eggs with tons of good veggies like onions and bellpepper or spinach and garlic and sundried tomatoes, and lean meat like diced turkey lunchmeat instead of ham or bacon, and no cheese, and put it with a side of steel cut oats with fresh fruit and nuts. that is my go-to breakfast these days, and it is great cuz it is healthy, tasty and filling.
I have to say, eggs with bell peppers and onions and garlic sounds absolutely delicious.

Why sundried tomatoes instead of regular tomatoes?

It's just so greasy and sugary. I used to love this stuff now I can't stomach places like Dennys or IHOP. The eggs are greasy. The hash browns are greasy. The sausage and The bacon is of course, greasy.

Even the toast is greasy. And I ain't even talkin' about the french toast.

Then you've got the sugary pancakes and syrup, the waffles, the sugary breakfast cereals, all that stuff.

Is there a better alternative?

It's an absolutely wonderful PSP player.

The best thing you can do is set the second analog stick to be L and R when playing a PSP game. That way, when you're playing a PSP game that has the camera mapped to L and R... boom! You actually have an intuitive game. Just like a console.

Played Ys 7 on it and what a fantastic game, and playing it on the Vita definitely helped make a fantastic game even more fun to play.

For what it's worth, I'm actually really enjoying the game and having a fun time.

Met Phaeroh in the desert, he was cryptic and hilarious with his turkey-looking demeanor yet insistence on trying to sound menacing thing.

The game's sort of cel-shaded look is really nice, very similar to Eternal Sonata (which I always felt was a pre-demo for this game) and the environments are fun to go through.

I'm definitely enjoying the battle system so far, having mostly gotten the hang of artes, skills, and fatal strikes. Really enjoy just how well my team work together, definitely like Patty on the team because her artes are either hilarious or downright helpful (restoring HP and TP randomly) and it perfectly complements a team of Yuri, Estelle and Rita.

It's just really fun to go through and I'm happy to be reminded of why I enjoyed Tales games. As my first Tales in over a decade it's definitely one I'm enjoying.

I specifically remember tons of posts on this board talking about how it was one of the best Tales games ever and that made me want to play it. Now that it finally came out there are all these posts itt of people saying they got bored of it and didn't like it so much? Just kind of blindsided me.

You should never need to grind, it should be only something you want to do because it's fun exploring and facing enemies in battle.

Also, games that just give you the same boring exp and money are not nearly as fun as games that make you feel like you're gaining so much more, like in addition to exp you get job points, and ability points, and new skills, and those new skills help make combat more engaging, and items that you can use to make more weapons, and basically where it's not just you go from level 1 to level 2, it's you go to level 2, but more importantly you get skill x and ability y and weapon z.

I basically do a base arte and an arcane arte combo of the same color over and over and hope it triggers a fatal strike, especially if my party members happen to do spells of the same color.

Like I'd do Azure Edge and then Dragon Swarm right after and if it gets a fatal strike, perfect. Those are both green. I chose green because in overlimit I do the Divine Wolf burste arte and since that one's already green, I may as well have both my base and arcane arte be green to best trigger a fatal strike.

So it goes base arte, arcane arte, burste arte, fatal strike. Definitely helpful for bosses but I hate when my combo is interrupted because someone hit me.

Vesperia has really good characters, and the story has some spots where it really shines when setups pay off, but other than that are definitely some lulls in the story where it can feel boring.

I loved the combat in Vesperia. Savage Wolf Fury is the coolest Mystic Arte.

Vesperis probably has the worst ending of any Tales game though.
Oh man I can't wait to do mystic artes. I can do altered artes now. I now have lightning blade on Rita! It's a cool move. Having altered artes really opens up the game's battle system.

At first I was completely bewildered by fatal strikes but I think I finally get them now a little bit. Basically if I perform moves of a same color I can get that fatal strike glyph of the same color and press R2 for the fatal strike right?

I'm worried Odyssey is more WRPG with interchangeable characters and superfluous dialogue options. Which character did you choose and how do you feel about the setting/characters?

I think that while the whole idea was pretty out there, the way Shamballa ended was pretty fitting for the show. The Elrics have never had it easy for most of their lives. They give up on what they want to do what's right, and the final twist at the end plays on the unbreakable bond of the brothers. (That also shows at the end of the show too, with the decision that both of them decided make.)

On another note, I'll tell you one thing about the original show that's clearly superior to Brotherhood - Brothers. That song is the heart and soul of the franchise and an absolute work of art.
Yeah everyone always praises that one (and for good reason)

Brotherhood's soundtrack isn't half bad though.

I just don't know if in retrospect their idea for the end of the series/conqueror of shamballa was a good one.

Well I'm back at Nordopolica.

Man it's a real shame the story is just nonexistent and kinda there, because the characters are so well presented for a jrpg. I don't mind angst, but definitely appreciate how the characters react appropriately to situations and don't yell all their lines.

Are they going to explain "the great war" or not? Seems like it should have been something they touched upon in the intro to the game. And they mention the empire but we never see a governing body. I feel like with just some better exposition, world building and sense of urgency to the plot in the beginning, it would definitely be great.
