We sort of need to know the asymptomatic and mild cases to do a better job at forcing people to isolate themselves. The US apparently doesn't give a damn though.

Update: had to see a doctor, didn't meet the criteria for testing. 99.7 temperature, they need at least 100.0.

But they did say I should stay home for a few days and take allergy meds to see if that gets rid of my symptoms

Woo.

Pretty much exactly what IL did to my wife and I. I at least got better after a week, my wife on the other hand got sicker (to the point of being bedridden) but still wasn't considered sick enough for a stay in the hospital so she was never given a test. Thankfully she's feeling better now but it's bullshit how anal the States are about testing. Goes to show the US has no fucking clue what the actual number of infected looks like.

Italy and Spain both had drops in cases before surges. Both also had lower reported deaths before getting outright fucked by an even higher death rate a couple days later. People need to stop looking at one or two days of data and claiming things are "improving".

It's only $600 a week and it's a pain in the ass to sign up for unemployment. I've been furloughed and have been waiting about two weeks to hear back about my unemployment claim in IL. Wife has been sick so we're floating off tax money + our savings until she gets well enough and the infecton window has passed to go back to work. Freaking stressful considering we have a daughter and my two teen sisters live with us.

People in NYC still aren't practicing social distancing like they should be so I'd argue that we won't see anything looking like a peak till closer to the 30th. And a place like FL probably has till June before we see a peak due to DeSantis refusing to take preventative measures.

IL just expanded it's lockdown till April 30th at the very least. The red parts of the State are now melting down and acting like COVID-19 is just a Chicago problem.

Also sounds like IL is going to be taking steps to switch over to mail in ballots by Nov.

If our social distancing proves to be effective and we don't stop too soon, then we should at least be able to get it back down to manageable levels by summer. Of course if we just stop social distancing the numbers will start rising quickly again, so we would need some kind of strategy before we just reopen everything.

Idiots in FL are still hanging out at the beach. Idiots in NYC are hanging out at parks and hitting illegal speakeasys. We're not getting a handle on the outbreak anytime soon.

The STL Metro East (St Clair and Madison counties especially) is the 2nd hottest spot in IL after Chicago so I think it's only a matter of time before STL proper gets hit.

So in my town in the STL Metro East the manager of one of the town's grocery stores started showing symptoms of the virus. Idiot worked a couple days before developing a fever and FINALLY self isolated. He's in the same boat as my wife and I though and not sick enough for IL to give a damn about and test, but him working while showing symptoms probably infected a fuckton of people.

People on GameFAQs have the weird idea that warm temperatures would prevent everyone from getting sick at all, but that's not how viruses work.

Nothing at all suggests that heat slows the rate of infection. Brazil has a huge number of infected and that number continues to grow. Africa is also apparently supposed to get outright fucked by it if projections are to be believed. And experts are saying this will go on into the summer. I trust them rather than random people on the internet claiming the pandemic will come screeching to a halt the second it warms up.

Yeah i wound up finding it. Weird he didn't bring up the dine in freeze..... I fully expect restaurants and bars to open up first thing and idiots to swarm them and spread the infection. Also kind of sucks that they skirted around the last question. We're still seeing plenty of infected so the shut down order needs to extend beyond the 7th. Pritzker said we're not looking to peak for at least another 3 weeks. Makes no sense to open up before that.

And there's still a shortage of testing being done in the State. I live in the STL Metro East and my wife still doesn't qualify to be tested despite being in rough shape, but not bad enough to be in the ICU so the State doesn't want to test her. So I imagine there are a hell of a lot more infected in IL than being reported.
