The ability to use sound to lure guards away from their posts was cutting edge shit back then. What you characterize as bad AI is the foundation for stealth games. Enemies are kinda dumb, but you suck enough at combat to make the odds more even. If you're an efficient killing machine like in MGS4 or 5, there's not tons of incentive to avoid combat. The combat in MGS is cumbersome for a reason. --- |
