Started the original. Beat Midgar in 5:23. Some things I had forgotten: Cloud still talks to "himself" when falling to the church. Wasn't sure if that was added in the Remake. Heidegger's role is super minor. Rude doesn't show up until Shinra Building. And Wall Market is just too weird. And now instead of feeling Remake was padded, this one feels way too rushed.

Oh oh oh. I do wonder if I missed an event somewhere. During the first ending, as it shows all the character cgs from their backstories and stuff, there was one with Emma running from Vita and carrying Celine. I don't think I ever saw that in game. A couple more I think I also saw for the first time during that ending but that one stood out. Was there a cutscene somewhere?

Cold Steel 2. Well that epilogue was shorter than expected. The split is pretty forced imhotbqh. Jusis will probably be pretty busy, and Millium can get other orders, but the rest I don't buy. Why right now? Why the change of heart? Why can't wait until graduation?

Unless the idea is that if we can't ALL be together when we should ALL be doing our own thing. I was kinda hoping there'd be a flashback where they sit down and talk about thism but nope.

Beryl just became a top tier NPC by allowing me to see which bonding scenes I've unlocked. Right now I have Alisa, Emma, Alfin, Sara and Towa. While Fie is just missing link points.

Cold Steel 2. Bareahard stopover. Just two thoughts.

First Rean x Alisa gets pushed even harder now. Even if other girls are better by themselves, I do like these two together.

Second is that if Class VII is supposed to be a third faction, so much being handed over to the Imperial Army seems fishy to me. I dunno, three towns in a row it feels like they're getting comfy in places they didn't use to be in as much. Hmm

Oh geez, Cold Steel 2 Act 2 Part 2. I liberated Roer and now it seems like I missed a huge chunk of map. Because now the game is showing me I can get Zemurian ore from an Ignis Shrine I never did. I never went to the Nortia Highway. I went straight to the mine after getting Angelica in my party and apparently there was a lot down there in that highway. So bummed I don't wanna keep playing right now.

And I didn't go there because I figured that's where I'd go after the whole Reinford business. Didn't think I'd get cutscene airshipped to Angie's dad.

Yes, if Phantom puts up Reflect and Aerith doesn't have Breach, you're screwed. But that's not a gimmick fight. It's just bad enemy design. The reflect should wear off with time instead, like almost every other wall spell in the game.

Beated 3 Cryptids so far. I think those are all the available ones so far, but yeah. Rean, Alisa, Jusis, Emma have been the main team to make them pretty easy. With Laura and Fie as backups. If I had to rank Class VII in combat, either Gaius or Machias would be at bottom. Dunno how to make them unique and useful.

Ah that first kill is always so sweet. E6S beated. Mi co-tank was stunned for final tankbuster so I got debuffed and then knocked into the air. But then they baited Meteor Strike away from me. I didn't know that was possible but I somehow survived.

Posting my CS2 thoughts after beating the Intermission.

The gameplay is a huge improvement over CS1. Everything seems more balanced. I don't know, I feel like I have more reason to use different crafts and arts now. While in CS1 you could just get through almost every fight with the same few crafts. I also appreciate little extra things like new icons on the map, the fishing spots, the pop ups when your notebook is updated.

And the npc tour around Ymir is less pace-breaking than the npc tour around Trista. And even though it's basically the same thing in the end, I think it's more fun the Old Schoolhouse is spread out across different shrines instead of a single building.

And speaking of pacing, the structure just makes more sense. I explore the land, fight some Alliance tough guys, I survive and now I get to rest at the hot springs. Instead of here's Rean telling you what's going on in Erebonia, but wait, gotta do meaningless free day now, and don't get anything exciting until like the end of the first Field Study day.

That said CS1 has all the merit for making me care about these characters thanks to their development in those free days. But CS2 is getting the merit of making me like the villains, especially Duvalie and Vita. Cayenne is a joke though.
