I know that this rumor has been circulated a few times, but I've heard that the federal government is talking about shutting down and/or doing a lockdown for 2~ weeks.

My source is my sister, who works for a state prison, and thus does have some slight inside info there. It could very well be another baseless rumor, but she called my family to warn us to stock up a bit more based on that. I thought it might be worth passing on.

that's a thing that's been going around for about a week now, everybody receiving texts saying "a friend of a friend" higher up somewhere saying the lockdown is coming and to prepare. how do you know your sister didn't get this text, and then passed it on to you?

That part only applies to people who owe no taxes to the government. It looks like they are prioritizing people with tax liabilities.

So if you owed taxes after filing in 2018, you should get the $1200.

It feels to me like when North Carolina got hit by Hurricane Florence back in 2018. Shit was unreal. We've been through hurricanes, even really bad ones, but because of the size, its speed, and the trajectory it took the entire state basically flooded. It was going a rate of one mile per hour. Across the entire state.

And it was crazy. Lights were out for weeks, gas stations were either out of gas or had lines going for blocks - same with grocery stores. My neighborhood flooded, emergency personnel couldn't reach people. It was wild. I've never seen the state behave the way it did.

I can tell you that I only made roughly 9K when I was working Taco Bell in 2016. What you posted from the article, up there, states that people that make at least twenty five hundred will get only 600 bucks. And even if I throw in 2015, I still didn't make 20K for those two years. I'd still get only 600 bucks.

How is that fair?

I'm so glad I live in an area where that doesn't happen, although I have seen such an occurrence when I was living near one of the bigger cities in the state and Hurricane Florence essentially crippled us for like a week. It was pretty wild.

I've never been one for forcing a population to do something, but this crisis has made me lean towards mandatory vaccination. I know it sounds harsh, and unconstitutional, but I don't think anybody wants to go through this again.

And they're free. Check out the fan game, MiniDoom and its sequel MiniDoom 2. Both are bite sized, fast and fun 2D side scroller platformer demakes of Doom 1 and 2 in the vein of MegaMan. There's also secrets and upgrades and all kinds of weapons to find.

I downloaded it back in 2018, and I really enjoyed it but never played beyond the first level. Now that we're all basically stuck inside, I went through my backlog and found it again and it's just as fun as I remember it. Just be sure to get the latest version, I did that after tinkering around with the version I'd had from two years ago - the most current version has more content, and is more polished.

Sure, I criticize him for acting blase about the virus and doing everything he could to downplay the severity of it as much as possible.

And before you get all hot and bothered and claim "WELL, TRUMP DIDN'T SAY THOSE eXaCt WoRdS" it was certainly his attitude towards the outbreak. He should have taken this more seriously. We should have seen a more prompt response, better measures to prevent hoarding, germ-game simulations done more often, we should have been more proactive, not reactive.

Covid-19 is something he cannot talk down to, or buy, and because of his lackadaisical attitude towards the virus the entire country, a country that should be well-equipped to handle such emergencies, is now effectively crippled and on our knees as we scramble to get back to our feet after this disease dealt one hell of a punch to the gut.

I guess the only thing that can really be done is voting him out of office, huh? And even then I doubt the feds will legitimately seek charges against him for gross incompetence.
