You really shouldn't put up a wall from someone trying to help just because you think they're wrong in the moment. I'm pretty sure this is why interventions happen. It's because someone put up a wall initially.

Take the advice and don't get upset because someone was trying to help you. He made the topic looking for an outlet or help but echo chambers to reinforce the reason you're in a rut in the first place doesn't help. Sometimes you need to hear things you don't like hearing.

The game was poorly lost in translation. There were some very subtle clues in the english version whenever the party met with Cid prior to Disc 2 that the orphanage scene would happen. But it was way too hidden to see on the first play through.
