The congresswoman said that voters are seeing the "political elites" front and center, while candidates like her are left on the "outside."

"Really what they see is a small group of of really powerful political elites, the establishment making decisions that serve their interests and maintaining that power while the rest of us are left outside. The American people are left behind," Gabbard said.

You heard it here first. Bernie is a political elite.

To be fair, it's referring to the "past" relating to that future. If you change the future, you're changing the events that are needed to lead up to it. So in the game, changing certain outcomes changes things in those timelines because things no longer lead to that outcome.

It's kinda stupid but makes sense as far as in the game itself. But it's a fun stupid quote because it makes no sense outside of context.

One of them ran a Game Grumps porn blog? No, that checks out. What's your point?

See that's they thing they were doing that stuff before Jared allegedly manipulated them. Everything they did post-accusation wasn't strange at all. They made the accusations. Emailed a bunch of people, then after the situation was over they deleted the accusations. Everyone's so wrapped up in dissecting every little ounce of Jared's story. Yet the accusers stories have glaring holes that are being overlooked. It was already in everyone's minds that he's "guilty" so that's how it's going to remain for a lot of people. Regardless of what actually happened.

having a lawyer: worse than being insane

To be fair, while I don't really agree it's enough to make a judgment on, what I think red is arguing is that suddenly lawyering up in reaction to random, unproved accusations seems a bit extreme if you know it never happened and the other side isn't actually putting forward evidence at the moment. That's basically throwing away money, and thus seems a little odd, especially since I don't believe he's suing anybody, himself.

You think so? idk I feel like if I were being publicly accused of serious crimes by multiple parties, even if I were completely innocent, I would be scared and wanting a lawyer. Especially since this is the kind of accusation where there likely isn't physical evidence to exonerate me.

I'm not saying he is innocent just that "quick get a lawyer" seems a perfectly normal innocent-person reaction.

Eh, people like him get accused of stuff all the time, though. That's just how the internet is. An accusation you know isn't true, has no evidence, and no sign of charges seems like a wait and see kind of thing, not an instantly run and get a lawyer kind of thing.

My personal guess would be either atleast part of this whole thing is true that made him think a lawyer was needed, or he at the time thought atleast one of the accusations could have actually happened. Obviously there's no real proof there one way or the other, but to have a lawyer and take this long to say something makes it seem possible that he was figuring out what he could say without incriminating himself. Now, if he were to press charges for libel or anything, then it'd make more sense, but as it stands now, something just seems off.

After some quick Googling to actually see the remarks Republicans had, I found that while some did make comments, the vast majority stopped far, far before actually calling him out and calling the comments racist or xenophobic. Most used phrases like saying they "disagreed" with the words, and most of them pulled the "both sides" card by saying "inflammatory language from both sides needs to stop."

EDIT: Hurd, one of the ones that voted Aye, seems to be the only one, or one of a very few, that actually called the tweets out as racist or xenophobic. Several in fact specifically said they WEREN'T racist or xenophobic when asked, and wouldn't use stronger language than calling the tweets "wrong" or "an error."

To be fair, you've got people like Ben Roethlisberger who just take hits head on and they're still playing, so it's not necessarily just a case of different playstyles. Some people are just really good at taking that kind of abuse or avoiding it all together, and others just aren't built for it. Not a knock against them, though.

I feel like the Spider-Man MCU movies haven't even done that well at the box office. 2002's Spider-Man is still the most successful domestically at the box office, and that's without even taking inflation amount. Sure, they've benefited from being in the MCU, but that's only because the Amazing movies hurt the brand. Spider-Man's still not as big as when the original trilogy came out.

I think this is glossing over a lot of important points, such as the fact that the 2002 Spiderman likely only did as well as it did because it was the first, at a time when it was still novel. Not counting the MCU movies, each Sony Spiderman movie since has done worse than the one before it, and that's including Spider-Verse. That signifies a definite trend in lack of interest/faith and so on. And while Spider-Verse may have helped, it was the MCU that greatly bucked that trend.

It's kind of weird to say Spiderman's not as big as when the original trilogy came out when FFH beats everything in the original trilogy worldwide, and only loses to the original in domestic.

Why is Spider-Man's incorporation into other MCU films, plus a large profit in merchandising, not a fair trade for time spent developing Spider-Man films? That was Disney/Marvel's goal, no?

Likely because it became a bigger deal than either thought it would, and so it went from a passable deal to one that isn't very smart, business-wise, for Disney. They could just be decent people and continue it, anyway, but businesses aren't ever "decent people" in pretty much any situation involving money.

Both sides are greedy in this instance. Disney wants more money because they have bigger dollar signs in their eyes after seeing how well it's been doing. Though they also want to co-finance, so it'd be a case of both companies putting money in and both companies getting paid, instead of just Sony putting money in and getting paid. But Sony currently very much likes being the only one putting money in and getting paid because it means they get paid much more. And they have the perk of being able to "This was the original deal, after all."

Sony (or more specifically, Columbia) co-produce the films with Marvel. They are also credited as the main production company. So Marvel has a role but the bulk is handled by Sony, including co-production. Even just looking at the credits Sony's in-house team worked on the VFX. It certainly wasn't a case of just handing it over to Marvel.

I mean they also worked on Captain America and Captain America: TWS. Are you gonna say those are Sony films, too?

I'd really like a source on how these were "completely Sony films" as you say, since Cly kinda highlighted how Marvel very much lead the production, so something disproving that would be nice to see.

Fair enough, but the proof is in the producer credits. The film was co-produced by Feige and Pascal. Also look at any Amy Pascal interview on the topic. Like I said the mid-credits scene came from them. I'd recommend Empire's spoiler podcast on Far From Home which has interviews with Watts, Feige and Pascal, it's bits and pieces but has good insight into the input Marvel and Sony had. Not to mention Watts himself - the guy who actually made the film.

Either way you can't deny that Sony financing, distributing, marketing and co-producing a film is a lot more than nothing which was always the point.

Oh, right. I agree Sony didn't do nothing. They did a lot more than nothing. You just tried to counter him by suggesting Sony did it all and Marvel basically just stood by quietly giving suggestions, which isn't true at all, either. Both did their fair share of legwork. I think his main point, even if not presented as fairly as it could have been, is that Marvel put in a lot of work on the production side, and it was ultimately their process that helped make it what it was.

That seems a good bit less likely than she was just being a jackass for fun. Or maybe a dare. Who knows. But jackassery was involved.

I mean, if you want a shitty mindset that only shitty people should have, it's "You don't know how anyone will take anything, so it's okay to randomly insult anybody in any situation!"

Obviously she was just teasing a guy for fun, giving the TSA line much needed humanity,

Randomly insulting people, especially at the airport where nobody actually wants to be, is not "much needed humanity." It's just fucking stupid. There are a million other ways to tease or joke with somebody that isn't handing them a note calling them ugly. Like, that's grade school shit, and even if it offended absolutely nobody, that's something you grow out of by like, age 10?

I'm not sure how you get that the guy is the shitty one in this instance
