The purpose of the arc was world building.

Yeah, it's a classic example of world building for the sake of world building. In other words, a bunch of pointless filler. Really, the main narrative of Gargoyles seems to be their struggle to be accepted by humanity. None of the Avalon shit was important to that. I actually never liked the idea of there being other clans of gargoyles; cheapens the value of the Manhattan Clan and how they were supposed to be the last of their race.

And fuck, as much as I like this show, it started feeling like a fanfiction of itself. Shakespeare's Macbeth is an actual character? There's even a Gargoyle literally named COLDSTEEL! Literally should just been about the Manhattan Clan adapting to modern society and trying to become accepted by humans.

Also I know its the GT of the series, but I actually liked The Goliath Chronicles. Probably because it was my exposure to Gargoyles as a kid; man I loved the intro. And the final episode was touching.

Goliath and Eliza are cool and all, but how you gonna keep my boys Brooklyn, Broadway, Lexington, Hudson and Bronx sidelined that long? That one episode where we got to see what they were doing while Goliath and Eliza were away was such a breath of air.

The arc should have ended not long after Angela decided to go to Manhattan with Goliath and Eliza.

The plot was over-the-top but it was great at letting the Sonic characters interact and showcase their individual personalities. Sonic's rivalry with Eggman, Sonic's constant bickering with Knuckles, Knuckles' flirting with Rogue, Eggman trying to outdo Tails, and Shadow's edginess interactions with everyone were good fun.

You realize that you can have entertaining character interactions without the plot being cringey fanfic BS, right?
