Well at least we got an official answer for Ghost getting played and I'm justified in being sad about that

Well, now that mystery has been solved thanks to director David Nutter.

Since the direwolves are kind of CG creations, we felt it best to keep it as simple as possible, said Nutter. And I think that it played out much more powerfully that way.

Game of Thrones visual effects supervisor Joe Bauer previously explained the difficulties of bringing the direwolves to life ahead of Season 8, saying real wolves need to be filmed and scaled up. And unfortunately, those wolves only behave in certain ways.

Keeping Ghost off to the side, I thought that played out better, said Nutter, adding that it gave Jon a chance to be with Tormund and Gilly before having one last moment with his wolf.

Then he just walks off by himself, he turns to Ghost and has this moment with Ghost that I thought was very, very powerful.

"CGI is too hard so we'll just say it was powerful to try to cover it a bit"

And yes this is a genuine complaint I have with the episode, not an episode ruin-er but it really does not help it for me.

6 episodes down now, I feel like it's been enough that I can say I definitely see the criticism with the pacing of the show but it's fun and I just like seeing where they take things so I don't mind too much. And the tone concerns I can understand but again it always set itself up as being weird so that kind of comes with the territory.

oh one thing I definitely will comment on with the detective lady who got killed

1. God damnit Klaus you literally could have told her there were 2 people she saved your life that's the least you could have done. Considering how it panned out that might not have helped in the end but still.

2. So Mary J Blige ended up getting behind her to shoot her, but they did an awful job at making sense of how she got there. I literally had to rewatch scenes before to see that there was a window in the bathroom that I'm guessing she climbed out of to run around back to the room, but they indicated NOTHING of that.

well I finally got Netflix back and can finally watch it, I feel like I've betrayed Gerard by not being able to watch it on release

5 episodes in, definitely did not expect it to go where it has so far (except Vanya's creepy boo thang because that seemed suspect from the first lesson, but I don't think the show ever set him up to be anything less than suspect so that's fine)

To be fair I think there's only....3 important people in Peter's class? MJ, Ned, and Flash. So as long as you have those 3 that got dusted and thus stayed the same age as Peter, the rest is kind of whatever. Seems pretty fine.

I think the thing about Endgame is that it is pretty much 100% just pure fan service, and while in most cases that's a not great thing it actually works here. After 21 movies it fully justifies and earns its place in reveling in such fan service.

I like time travel so Endgame chose right sorry

And IW had the more immediate goal of "ok stop Thanos" but Endgame still had a clear narrative. Literally "get the stones, come back and undo snap" and then there was a "twist" of Thanos so once again, "stop Thanos". Not really that complicated or unclear imo.

So uh I'm not sure where exactly to put this but *Endgame spoilers* watching through Steins;Gate kind of helped me out when it came to Endgame and just being completely on board with how time shenanigans worked out there. Obviously not the exact same but the idea of world lines. Kind of funny how that ended up lining up, almost like I was meant to watch Steins;Gate when I did. I would say Steins;Gate spoilers too but putting that next to saying Endgame spoilers kind of ruins that a bit.

I actually think Ryuji is a better Junpei for the most part, like Ryuji is a lovable sort of scamp and Junpei is like actually an asshole a fair amount of the time. I don't dislike Junpei but he's kind of a prick.

999 was made as a standalone story and it shows so hard. VLR only felt like the set up for the trilogy and ZTD only felt like the ending. It ended up being a really awesome trilogy, but there's just nothing as completely satisfying as 999. Especially if it was your first VN. 999 is just the most grounded and best written without diving deep into anime nonsense. I would recommend it to any non-VN non-anime fan, unlike the others. It also does things that just can't ever be done a second time by any other game.

That said, VLR and ZTD brilliantly use the fact that they are sequels in their stories. They really weren't afraid to add a bunch of new risky things instead of just doing the same thing again.

Honestly the whole deal with Garou is actually pretty cool even if kind of ridiculous. Just idolized villains a whole bunch from the beginning. And man I was happy Metal Bat hated that executive and his son so much, they were the worst. Only thing is I thought for a second the end was panning out to have Garou be like "Fuck there's another monster who's taking Class S Heroes from me?" and becomes a "hero" by killing the monster out of solely selfish villain needs, and then goes right for Metal Bat. But this way also gives Metal Bat even more spotlight so I get it.
