scarletspeed7 04/28/19 12:38:03 PM #176 | All right, so in order to get all of the campaign information in one place, I've created a Discord server specifically for all of us to use. I think it would be of great help for everyone, from character creation into the campaign itself. Since we'll use Discord to host DCURPG itself, it seemed like the right move. Here's a link to the server: https://discord.gg/VzyUb6G In other news, Han was considering staying on Fridays I think. We can discuss all of this in more detail on the server itself of course. scarletspeed7 04/27/19 5:32:40 PM #158 | Zigzagoon posted... I agree that a shared universe IS more fun and honestly the only real issue I have with is the merged group aspect of it. I'm just having a difficult time imagining a scenario where all 8 of us are in a call for 4 hours doing a part of the campaign and it not turning into a mess and ultimately being boring for most of the people. The story will call for it at most three times, going through it. --- "It is too easy being monsters. Let us try to be human." ~Victor Frankenstein, Penny Dreadful |

scarletspeed7 04/27/19 4:05:03 PM #153 | I actually think that the shared universe is the most fun and here's why: Gotham is a big place. Insanely huge. And when the two groups are in the thick of it, I think they won't notice that they are missing things. When you play D&D campaigns, time passes. The world changes around the players. The idea of playing an RPG is that you are a small piece in a grander world. If every decision falls to you, those decisions lose impact. The concept of two groups I think creates two things: a larger community to share the burden of decisions is the first. Instead of being relegated to four minds, you can argue passionately with 8. And for every mistake YOU make, someone is out there making one of their own. You might find more excitement in a world where you can solve the problems of not just Gotham, but another group. I will say this. Since I came up with the two party system, I am already scripting some new scenarios and concepts. I'm kind of doubling the content. So actually, you won't miss content. You're just getting different content. And the stories and beats one group gets will be different than the other at times. If you really want to be a part of both groups, I guess theoretically you could too! Maybe I'm getting too into this idea, but if other people agree, simply switching Han is not going to be killer to your enjoyment. Is it artificial? A little. I would cut the merged session and flip his group, and I don't think it will take more than one session for the groups to adjust. But if we go with the shared idea, you'll have a greater world to play with. You'll have opportunity to share with the other group between sessions and build in the foundation of what happens in Gotham. The chemistry and dynamics of the group's might even come at odds, and that could create a really exciting piece that propels the story outside of the sessions and creates something utterly real for both groups. At least that's my argument for shared. The argument for separate is simpler: it's easier, and you won't notice the flip. --- "It is too easy being monsters. scarletspeed7 04/27/19 11:43:07 AM #53 | 157 million, and a worldwide total of 650 million right now. Avatar might actually be in trouble! With a consistent Marvel comics trend, Avengers could likely take in 340 million on opening weekend. For comparison, that's more than Iron Man 1's entire run. scarletspeed7 04/27/19 10:57:29 AM #129 | I've got a busy day today (going to see Hamilton!), but here's where I'm sitting right now: I have enough people for two full-fledged groups at this point. I have absolutely no problem having people switch after a merged week if it's necessary for their schedule, but going forward, do people want both groups playing in the same continuity, or do people want to experience all of the content? Right now here are the people I have down as interested for the first schedule: Monday Hombad War Johnbobb Inviso Friday Ermine Wickle Han IGCD I also noted the following people were interested: @ScareChan, @PrivateBiscuit1 . If people want to give some feedback to me, that will help me determine how I proceed with the entire idea. If both Scare and Biscuit wanted to pick opposite days, that would likely work perfectly. If Han and someone else wanted to flip groups after the merged week, that would also work perfectly in terms of numbers. After we determine that, the biggest question really will be whether both groups want to work independently of each other but in the same Gotham City, or if both groups would like to play completely separately. The upside to the togetherness is that the campaign won't drag out as long; you could also in theory float between groups if you needed to miss a week here or there, or if schedules were changing. The downside is that you would ALL miss some of the content. I'll try to check my phone from time to time today and respond to posts, but I wanted to throw this out there as an option given that we've now got a possible group of 10. ScareChan posted... do you need another person My first group had a person who had never played an RPG before, and he said he had an absolute blast. Of course, he moved after we finished the first campaign, but he always talks about the campaign when we talked. scarletspeed7 04/26/19 10:54:20 PM #108 | So here's the plan - I'm going to host two groups of 3-4 players between a Monday night and Friday night group. This means someone like @Johnbobb can also join in on one of those days. The groups will eventually merge with the first Monday of June. If you want to know which group better fits you, Group 1 will meet on Mondays in May: the 13th, the 20th and the 27th. Group 2 will meet on these Fridays: the 10th and 24th and 31st. I'm arranging the Fridays so IGCD can make all the Friday ones and therefore not miss a session. They'll come together on the 3rd of June and then from there it will be Mondays going forward (at least for a while). At that point, we'll see if everyone wants to stick around. I'm capping this at a max of 4 per group, so this could mean that 2 more people could join up. First come first served on the slots. If you can do both, pick one now; we can adjust it later if someone is locked out of the day they need. --- "It is too easy being monsters.
