When the President breaks the law, and we let them get away with it, it opens the door for future Presidents to break the law. And Republicans are fine with it now, but as soon as a Democrat gets in the white house and they control the Senate... then said Democrat has absolutely no reason to obey the law because his party doesn't have to hold him accountable.

But hey, when we come for your guns don't say we didn't warn you!

If Republicans refuse to impeach a Republican President on the basis that he's a Republican (and that appears to be the case, since they've already made up their minds before the investigation is even finished) then Republicans have broken our system and our country. Time to throw it all out.

Houston Texans @ Jacksonville Jaguars
Jaguars are usually pretty good in London. And the Texans are without Watt. But Jags have had a pattern so far: Lose, Lose, Win, Win. Lose Lose, Win Win. And I'm sticking with it here.

Washington Redskins @ Buffalo Bills
Bills at home against a weak team? Yeah.

Minnesota Vikings @ Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs offense is good enough to win with Matt Moore.

New York Jets @ Miami Dolphins LOCK
Not the Dolphins.

Chicago Bears @ Philadelphia Eagles
Not sure Trubisky can get the job done.

Indianapolis Colts @ Pittsburgh Steelers
Colts running game probably puts them over the top here.

Tennessee Titans @ Carolina Panthers
Panthers should beounce back.

Detroit Lions @ Oakland Raiders LOCK
Raiders are better at home.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Seattle Seahawks
The upset is tempting, but I just can't do it.

Cleveland Browns @ Denver Broncos
Brandon Allen won't help the Broncos here much.

Green Bay Packers @ Los Angeles Chargers LOCK
Aaron Rodgers.

New England Patriots @ Baltimore Ravens
Tom Brady at home.

Dallas Cowboys @ New York Giants
It's a divisional game, so anything can happen. But I'm going with the Cowboys still.

You are undoing the election unless you know something the voters didn't. For example, Trump openly called on Putin to publish Hillary's emails. So you can't impeach him for collusion with Russia when the voters already knew about that and elected him anyway.

Of course it's making a ton of money. A lot of Christians' idea of "Charity" is giving money to rich people in opposition to anything they disagree with. That's why they donate money to millionaire athletes who oppose gay marriage so they can fund their legal bills, when those same athletes could easily fund their own legal battles.

i should have used lock all this week, only one loss going into the packers game

This was a great week for everyone. Nobody got more than 4 wrong, which is impressive since almost everyone got the Bears game wrong. (Except Bartz).

A mostly cookie-cutter week.

Most contentious games:
Buccaneers/Titans (12-13)
Panthers/49ers (18-7)
Bills/Eagles (4-21)
Jets/Jaguars (2-23)
Bears/Chargers, Texans/Raiders, Chiefs/Packers (24-1)
Vikings/Redskins, Seahawks/Falcons, Lions/Giants, Colts/Broncos, Rams/Bengals, Saints/Cardinals, Patriots/Browns, Dolphins/Steelers - (25-0)

8 games had UNANIMOUS picks (and so far they've all been right, too)
11 games had just one or fewer deviations from the consensus (73%)
12 games had 2 or fewer (one of which did not make a pick at all)

One of the easiest weeks to predict in recent memory.

Seattle Seahawks @ Atlanta Falcons
Matt Ryan may be out, and the Seahawks have NOT been good this year.

Philadelphia Eagles @ Buffalo Bills
I think the Eagles can score a little more than the Bills can stop them.

Los Angeles Chargers @ Chicago Bears LOCK
Bears at home against a fairly weak Chargers team. NFC has a lot of teams that should make the playoffs, but won't. While the AFC has a lot of teams that shouldn't, but will. (Chargers not among the ones that will, though)

New York Giants @ Detroit Lions LOCK
Lions at home against a Giants team that needs to rise a bit mroe first.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Tennessee Titans
I give up on Tennesee Games tbh.

Denver Broncos @ Indianapolis Colts LOCK
Battle of the horses. Peyton Manning's two teams clash, and the Colts should come out on top. But the AFC South never goes the way it's supposed to.

Cincinnati Bengals @ Los Angeles Rams
One of these teams is winless. I'll give you two guesses and the first doesn't count.

Arizona Cardinals @ New Orleans Saints
Drew Brees may be back, but I'd probably pick the Saints either way.

New York Jets @ Jacksonville Jaguars
Part of me wants to take the Jets. Then I remember: They're the Jets. Minshew will probably have some problems here, but I think Jacksonville takes it at home.

Carolina Panthers @ San Francisco 49ers
Kind of want to pick the Panthers here. I think the 49ers win streak will come to an end soon. But I'm not sure it's this week.

Cleveland Browns @ New England Patriots
Tom Brady at home. Enough said.

Oakland Raiders @ Houston Texans
Texans should be able to handle the Raiders at home.

Green Bay Packers @ Kansas City Chiefs
Mahomes is out, which means that Green Bay should be able to win with ease. Not a good year for QB's though.

Miami Dolphins @ Pittsburgh Steelers
--Are you facing the dolphins --> Yes
--Are you the Bengals? --> No
---Win!

The goal of the "Open" league seems to be to exclude trans athletes altogether. Since they won't be 'good enough' to qualify in the open league, and are 'too good' to compete in the cis-women league. It's like "Hey, we TECHNICALLY allow trans-somen to join. But none are able to qualify."

I don't think you can make a very good case that Biden doesn't care about working class Americans. You can argue that you think Bernie's plans will be better than his, sure, but that's a very different statement.

Biden might care for them -- but he won't actually help them. (Neither will Republicans, for that matter). And when they see that, they'll switch back to Republican. Even if it's someone as despicable as (or worse than) Donald Trump.

The cycle goes on and on. Democrats don't do enough --> Voters become disillusioned --> Voters become Republicans --> Republicans really fuck things up --> Voters become disillusioned --> Voters become Democrats ---> Democrats don't do enough etc.. etc...

I mean a large portion of voters have made up their mind for the 2024 election already. Split into the Blue Team and the Red Team. It's the Purple Guys who decide elections, and they aren't the type that have everything going well for them under the status Quo.

It's not a coincidence that FDR won four elections.

Ashethan
10/23/19 4:45:25 PM

It's kind of interesting that in the past... oh I don't know, 17 years on this board I'd be willing to bet there were zero topics on female cycling that did not have to deal with a transgender racer. I bet most people couldn't name a single female cyclist. I'd be surprised if most of them could name a single male cyclist NOT named Lance Armstrong. How many people know Jeannie Longo, or Sarah Newsome, or Georgia LaMont, or Emma Pooley? How many even know names like Jared Thompson, Pedro Delgado, Tom Simpson, or Xavier Brown? Here's how few: You might not have realized I made some of those names up. (Maybe I made all of them up? Can you tell without googling them?) Maybe I'm lying about making ANY of them up. And you'd probably never know without Google. (If you do know, kudos to you, I guess0

But I digress.

It's worth noting that Ms. McKinnon is hardly 'dominating' the sport. (In one recent competition, she placed 11th.) Yes, she has some biological advantages -- as do most athletes. (Also worth noting that in one competition she won, a competitor with better time trials than her dropped out -- rather respectfully, so she doesn't deserve scorn from our Trans-Friendly residents) because she disagreed with the rules. (She also disagreed with people calling Dr. McKinnon a 'cheater')

I think there should be some discussion on requirements for trans-athletes to compete in professional sports. And it's an important discussion to have. I don't', however, think it benefits anyone to simply ban them from participation (thus leaving them out of any right to participate in professional sports at all) and misgender them when talking about them. Perhaps the current requirements aren't enough (some would argue that it's too much -- usually depending on their level of comfort with transgender people)

Ultimately though, I think the bigger issue facing women's sports is visibility. How many female athletes can you name? If I had to guess the list of female athletes people would list would probably look a little like this:

1. Venus Williams
2. Serena Williams
3. BIllie Jean King
4. Maria Sharapova
5. Anna Kournikova
6. Lindsey Vonn
7. Danica Patrick (though let's be honest most people know her for the Godaddy commercials)
8. Ronda Rousey
9. Mia Hamm
10. Maybe Sue Bird?
10. Maybe Misty May Trainor?
11. Maybe Alex Morgan?
12. Maybe Megan Rapinoe?

I'm sure there's some I'm leaving off. But I doubt many people could really name too many female athletes. Their sports could use a bit more visibility. (I doubt anyone could name many professional cheerleaders, for example. And yes, Cheerleading is a sport.)

It'd be nice if people paid attention when there weren't trans athletes winning. But I guess that doesn't get the clicks. Nothing to get upset about. Except maybe that female sports just don't get enough attention. But what are you, some kind of feminist?

Nobody of any note is running on a platform to cleanse the race of United States. H

That's a pretty narrow definition of White Supremacy. Believing that the US needs cleansed is the ETREME position of White Supremacy. But there are layers to go before reaching that. I mean, of course no leader is advocating racial cleansing. It'd play VERY poorly in the public sphere, and they'd no longer be able to separate themselves from terrorists who act on behalf of White Supremacy (but not necessarily on their orders -- a very technical defense on their part).

Here's what kind of happens:

John goes and kills 11 black people at Wal-mart. He writes a manifesto which is trying to start a race war.
Bob comes in and doesn't defend John -- No, Bob would never do that -- but he says "Well, he's not actually a White Supremacist. He's just pretending to be one. not an official member."

And right there is how White Supremacy survives. It thrives off the idea that if these people, who they've no doubt radicalized -- did not TECHNICALLY count him as a member, then it's not really white supremacy related. This allows them plausible deniability. Bob might not be a White Supremacist himself, he might not even be an ally. But he's buying into the logic they want him to buy into. "Well, he wasn't really part of our group! We're bad, but we're not THAT bad!" And that's exactly what allows them to survive. They allow themselves to keep those layers of White Supremacy, where the outer layers are still more acceptable to society -- and maybe not even be considered 'white supremacy' while drawing members from that layer toward the inner-most layer. It separates their rhetoric from the actions of those inspired by it. Thus allowing the whole thing to survive and radicalize new members who are more susceptible to their brand of hate.

I sense some jealousy from Hillary. She sees Tulsi may become the first female president in 2024 and it makes her jealous.

How can she be the first when Warren will win in 2020?

I'm fine with Republicans running Tulsi in 2024 though.

Let's not forget the time Tulsi Gabbard praised Putin in order to slam Obama.

Funny how last time she supported Bernie Sanders, and now all of a sudden she's slamming Medicare for All, which is a BIG part of Bernie's platform. Like... if you had to define Bernie's platform, it'd literally be "Medicare for all" So what changed between then and now?

Why is it that Republicans hate "Taxes" unless you call them "Tariffs". Maybe we should start saying we're going to pay for medicare for all with all the money we get from Tariffs.

Los Angeles Rams @ Atlanta Falcons
Ramsey won't help the Rams on offense, but I think the Falcons have fallen pretty far.

Miami Dolphins @ Buffalo Bills LOCK
The Bills get an extra Bye Week this year, I see.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Cincinnati Bengals LOCK
Minshew Magic has lost some of its touch, but I think he can handle the Bungles.

Minnesota Vikings @ Detroit Lions
The Lions have been surprising me lately. NFL totally screwed them last week. Vikings have been pretty solid, but this is a divisional game where anything can happen.

Oakland Raiders @ Green Bay Packers
Packers at home seem like a pretty safe bet against the Raiders, but stranger things have happened.

Houston Texans @ Indianapolis Colts
Texans look like they've taken the next step forward. Time will tell if it sticks.

Arizona Cardinals @ New York Giants
Fan Pick.

San Francisco 49ers @ Washington Redskins LOCK
Flow Chart time:
Are you facing the Redskins? --Yes
Are you the Dolphins? --No
Are you the Bengals? --No
Congratulations, you win!

Los Angeles Chargers @ Tennessee Titans
Not sure Tannehill is the answer to the Titans woes.

New Orleans Saints @ Chicago Bears
I think the Saints are the better team here.

Baltimore Ravens @ Seattle Seahawks
Could go either way, but I'll take the home team. Even though "When in doubt, pick the home team" has failed miserably this year.

Philadelphia Eagles @ Dallas Cowboys
Cowboys are on a slide.

New England Patriots @ New York Jets
Jets played well last week. Not well enough to beat the Patriots, whose schedule has been so easy this year that I think even the Dolphins would win a few games. Granted, the Dolphins would face themselves, but we all know that'd just end in a tie.

Whoever the Democratic Nominee is at this point. Don't care if it's Tom Steyer, Marianne Williamson, Tulsi Gabbard, or two teens standing on each others head with a poorly made Mike Gravel Costume.

He cares DEEPLY about how others perceive him.

Not really. He assumes everyone loves him. I don't think he really cares how people perceive him, or he'd be really worried about his approval ratings instead of boasting about them. Trump cares about one thing and one thing only: Donald Trump. He's a con-artist. He knows how to manipulate people. But he doesn't care about what they think. Anyone who is loyal to him, is useful. Anyone who isn't, he must destroy.
