I'm pro choice myself. And yet I am constantly disappointed by the defense and arguments of pro choicers. They go on and on about things that don't matter to pro lifers and then wonder why they haven't changed their mind.

The bottom line is pro lifers believe getting an abortion is the same as murdering a baby. That's it. That's the only point that pro choicers ever really need to contend with. And yet I hardly ever see pro choicers actually addressing that point.

Like, yeah, lifers want a woman who got an abortion to have a greater sentence than the rapist. That's because they believe its baby murder. Murdering a baby should have a greater sentence than raping someone.

But choicers hardly ever seem to tackle that basic issue. They need to just stick to constantly offering arguments as to why terminating a fetus is not the same as plunging a knife into the heart of a newborn baby. Because to a pro lifer, there is no difference.

Yep, pretty much agree. I get annoyed that I keep seeing these posts about how the legislators is all men, or whatever else. Like, why even focus on shit like that. Do they think there are no women pro lifers? Do they think a ban on abortion would be better if a legislature group of all women voted on it?

Like, just stick to why you think abortion should be allowed instead of unrelated issues regarding abortion.

Some have an inability to realize that pro lifers aren't mustache twirling villains that just want to control people.

I mean the belief is that abortion is literally murder.

If you want to justify murder to curb overpopulation, well... >_>

It's not murder, though. It's an intentional miscarriage to prevent hardship for the parents and child. People should only have children when they're able to take care of them.

Never heard that term before.
But anyway, if they see the fetus has a human life, intentionally ending the life seems inexcusable to them

how does this even affect the anti-abortion person's personal life? it doesn't

If they see it as a human life even while in the womb, then to them, what they're doing makes sense.

And again, how does them being men have anything to do with it.
Hell, you know there are non religious people who are pro life right?

what makes sense? give me reasons

how do they see it "making sense" to not get an abortion?

take religious out of the equation, and everything is logical instead of "it just makes sense"

and because the law makers that push the law are men who have this idea that women are "their property because religion said so"

Do you not think there are women who would make these same laws if they were in the seat?

If they see it as a human, then to them abortion would be essentially killing a life. It makes sense in the sense that they see it as saving lives

This whole narrative about how men shouldn't be making the laws regarding abortion is kinda annoying me. Mainly because I think pro choice people do a disservice to themselves on focussing on this narrative.

It removes the fact that there are women who are pro life and would probably make the same legislature if they were in the seat.

If a group of all women voted on strict abortion laws, would that make the law any better? Of course not.

Focus on why there should be abortions instead of some tangent narrative that doesn't speak to the real issue

I think it speaks to an inability or unwillingness on the part of many liberals to identify the real villains.

Who would be the villains?
I think it's a willingness on the part of many to want to create a villain when there might be none

The data shows they hurt. The statistics are overwhelmingly in support of it hurting. Giving them bonus points to get into these schools won't help them

I've always been curious about those reports. Outside of the top tier schools, should students be expecting big gaps in difficulty when comparing some universities to other. It always seemed like that's not something I could tell. Like, ya, some schools might have a higher reputation, but.... That's just reputation

Sad to say but as stupid as this is, it's been going on for years. A black girl from a nearby high school in the ghetto got into the University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign) engineering program, and she had an ACT score of 18. Wasn't even in the top 10% GPA in the graduating class. The average ACT score for that program is like a 30.

I remember I made a topic here years ago asking what people thought of affirmative action, and almost everyone that posted was for it. Glad to see that's changing. It is LITERALLY racist by definition.

how did she do in school?

Like the post said, not even in the top 10% of the graduating class. There were over 300 students, so not even in the top 30.

a poor white or Asian student wouldnt benefit from this?

They might. But they wont release the calculations.

Each of the three categories has five sub-indicators that are indexed in calculating each student's adversity score. Neighborhood environment will take into account crime rate, poverty rate, housing values and vacancy rate. Family environment will assess what the median income is of where the student's family is from; whether the student is from a single parent household; the educational level of the parents; and whether English is a second language. High school environment will look at factors such as curriculum rigor, free-lunch rate and AP class opportunities. Together these factors will calculate an individual's adversity score on a scale of one to 100.

Aren't these the things people have been wanting colleges to focus on instead if race?

One issue I see is in how they collect the necessary data, but that would have always been true

No one likes abortion, everyone would rather prevent unwanted pregnancies. The problem is the conservative and Republican policy of ignorance. Want to lower unwanted pregnancies and abortion rates?
