you get goetia for free anyways and there's nothing better to spend it on, at least

goetia crafted mats r poop money, and goetia gear itself is obsolesced almost completely already by gear that's higher ilvl and easier to get

no reason to not at least turn those tokens into a weapon, at least

Another thing I did was pick up the i450 crafted gear from the mb.

dunno if you knew, but you can also augment that crafted gear now to 460 using goetia tomestones (the infinitely-farmable tome)

if it works the same way that it did in previous expansions, you trade either NQ or HQ gear for certificates (hq gives more), then you trade those certificates plus something obtained with goetia tomes for the 460 gear

you don't even have to trade in the item you intend to upgrade; the certificates can buy *any* gear... so if you stumble upon an upgrade for your chest and you already have a crafted chest, you could turn that chest into certificates and instead buy some upgraded 460 legs

I guess you could use the multiplier to clone a bunch of high level mats like goldeterion and then go into it's world and reduce the stuff you get but that seems like more work than just taking an axe to pylnor tower.

Method is this:

Craft a red stone with the effects (effect spread and number made up iirc), copy it, then craft a philosopher's stone with as many red stones as you can jam into it (keep 1 to copy). you can just mass put them all into the first node, the gems you get don't care about effects on the philosopher's stones.

easy alchemy level grinding and money too. come back when you can 999 quality everything and the profit skyrockets even more, but it's profitable with super low quality. at alchemy level 50 you can make like 23 at a time

I'm almost at the end of Ryza and I'm kinda pissed that 50 is max level. I hit that with plenty of game left to go.

Was the same with Sophie, and there were a couple recipes that were beyond that.

Honestly I think it's fine for the first protagonist of a trilogy, from the perspective of the story. They haven't hit their peak yet, by far. Ryza has done some amazing things, but she's still only at the start of her journey.

I also truly do not understand the level of the bottle worlds. They just seem to randomly up every now and then. I had 4 bottles, and the highest world I could make was like 26. Then, later, without getting any bottles or anything, the same mats now give me level 33 worlds.

It was kind of confusing. I couldn't get a static level for things unless I used codes.

Also have you figured out the easy infinite gems method yet? It's great.

I could totally see a system where it debuffs a boss, and attacking it leaches HP from the target to players.

I keep hoping they'll implement some of the more interesting ideas from wow (I mained disc priest throughout most of legion, then resto druid near the end for raiding), but I really doubt any future healing classes will have significant gameplay flavor the way wow does.

I returned to wow a few days ago and it's just mindboggling how much more interesting healing is in that game. FFXIV is like an orchestrated dance, and wow is like a mosh pit. The mosh pit is WAY more variable and fun. It's just too bad the framework of the game is ass right now.

Was pretty par the course Atelier, despite the different battle system. Got me to try the mysterious trilogy that I've been putting off forever... which is also regular atelier but not in as good of a way as Ryza.

Ryza's main plot was a lot more interesting, and compared to it, Sophie felt like a modern version of shitty old Rorona (pre remake). It wasn't terrible but man it was kind of bland 95% of the time. The only character in the game I REALLY like is Fritz. Oscar's good (the implications about his "delusions" of hearing plants, combined with how alchemy is understood to work in the mysterious universe was also interesting), Monica was average female childhood friend character and weaker than most, Plachta was fun, Corneria was alright, Harol was good, Julio seemed cool at first but got really lame as things went on, and Leon was cool.

Sophie herself was just... average. Rorona, Totori, Meruru, Vayne, Escha and Logy, and one Shallie were are interesting. Ayesha and Totori were carried by their strong desires, Totori especially going through more character development than most. Sophie's entire character revolves around her just being kind to people, especially Plachta. I can see why people tend to like the Mysterious series less, especially since apparently the second game is about as well received.

YoukaiSlayer posted...
Kind of annoying that the game forces you to have 2 frontline units and 1 backline unit. I have missions for one character that need lent in the party but the only way to have both those characters in is to remove ryza from the party and she is OP as hell cause of the gear right now.

The UI is terribly about this, but this isn't actually the case. You can have three frontlines. You just have to take the backliner out of the party completely, then add in the last frontliner.

If I'd known this earlier on I would have absolutely used a different party composition for half the game, but I ended up with my favorites anyways.
YoukaiSlayer posted...
Really hoping I find the next mats to make better gear soon. I wonder if any can turn up in a bottle world like golden puni balls did.

As far as I know, any gatherable materials can end up in there. Even Dunkelheits, which are always the most powerful plant/flower type material in any atelier game. But you require higher levelled travel bottles to get better stuff. Dunkelheits are in like level 90+ travel bottle worlds lol. Gem costs get ridiculous if you try to use a code, too. Eventually you can farm gems very efficiently via alchemy alone, but only probably near the end of the game.

ryza is really easy to break once you get to near-endgame, i went from barely being able to beat the final boss to taking 1 damage from the dlc boss in a few hours. i felt super weak the entire game until then though

game was average all around, but i hated how short it felt at the end. all of a sudden there wasn't really anything left to do, thanks to the lack of character endings (because they're selling them as dlc...). quests are nice but they end pretty abruptly... and two or three vital recipes are locked behind them, with no indication. i wasted so long trying to figure out how to get alchemy paint/jar of spirits/top tier ingots and cloths before i realized they were behind quests/treasure hunts

battle system was nice that they were trying realtime for once but it definitely felt too fast. breaking down items mid-battle felt like it took an entire turn's worth of time. move being on X was really awkward

8/10 meruru/shallie/maybe lulua was better

starting the mysterious series now

edit: protip but you can slap in multiple items at one with R1 (maybe L1?) when adding items, and you can manually finish a synthesis after 2-4 input items with start. i didnt realize this for half the game <_<

Whatever gives the highest amount of CP, pretty much. It was always, by far, the most important crafting stat, to the point where you could do 2* macros the day they came out in Shadowbringers with almost nothing but CP melds.

Dunno if the overreliance on CP is still there with the new crafting stuff, though.

And, as I understand it, Steam has drastically cut back on its pornographic offerings in recent years and has pulled questionable titles.

"questionable titles" including this one for month (until HEAVY backlash) despite it being absolutely tame: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1044490/The_Expression_Amrilato/

If steam would be consistent, we would probably care less. For a long time it did not allow visual novels at all. Then it seemed like it was opening up, then it started randomly delisting some (sometimes for "school settings" itself being child exploitation???), and then back to opening up...

Nekopara was one of the first big 18+ VNs on steam, and they've been untouched by all of this. They deliver their 18+ content with a cheap DLC, buyable within steam itself. And yet a couple months ago, they banned the G Senjou no Maou patch that delivered 18+ content via the same way. Nekopara is FAR more notorious for its 18+ content because cuteness and lewdness is the entire point of the VN, and yet actual literature gets slapped by censorship. Why? Is it because Gsen's patch is free and Nekopara's is like $5? Is steam only complicit because they're making more money off of Nekopara? That isn't a moral stand, then.

They don't know where they want to be regarding visual novels and keep partially backtracking. It's obnoxious.

This made me laugh. MangaGamer is an American company right? All American companies exist because they can exploit their workers.

They're a branch of a Japanese company called Overdrive; a few of their early-released VNs (KiraKira, Deardrops, Edelweiss, Dengeki Stryker, and Go Go Nippon) cost them nothing to get the rights to, which is how they kinda kickstarted themselves.

Either way, I agree with his sentiment. They are pushing out WAY too many parallel releases. vndb shows twenty-four currently announced and under translation, and there's absolutely more unannounced they're working on.

While I do want more Rance games translated, it really seems like they're pushing them out so fast they don't get nearly as much spotlight as they should. I barely heard a peep when Sengoku Rance was released, and that game is incredible. Rance 10 is a goddamn masterpiece with a gigantic amount of content to translate and I really don't want them working on it in parallel with four other Rance games: 8, 9, 01, and 02.

Like, shit, I trusted Arunaru for a good translation, and there's still one editor working there I trust, but if they overwork/burn her out too... The end quality will not be good if we're left with people translating the game that aren't Rance fans.

If this doesn't send the message that censorship WILL lower interest/sales, nothing will.

I can't even remember the last time I actually read an H scene without holding down the skip button, but it still leaves a really foul taste in my mouth even when the censorship in a game is minor.

If you play the GBA SRW games you'll at least be introduced to Alfimi and Axel, and two of the main characters of the first game are like alternate versions of the two main Endless Frontier characters. It seems like it's just tangentially related at first, but parallel universes are a pretty big part of overall SRW plot especially in the second OG GBA game

The GBA Original Generation games aren't as good as the PS2 Original Generation game (which was its remake and is more canon), but hey, it was my intro to SRW too.

nice, i only managed that a few months ago. put off my last few for years then blitzed through about 4 of them in two GW's time

i pretty much only do guild wars these days... my drive to play since magna 2 was introduced has been pretty minimal

I don't. After all, novel is right there in the name. And if I'm going to read my porn, I'll stick to manga.

The mch one was wild. Pre-raid I was trying to convince my static's mch to upgrade from 440 ronkan to 450 edengrace because there's no way it would be a dps loss, right? Nope, skill speed on mch is literally that bad that it dropped his dps like 3%. Ended up making the crafted hat for him because I really wanted that vit on everyone >_>

There was one class in particular you wanted to use facets for but I can't remember which. Also you wanted to spam collectibles for ALC instead of leves apparently.

This was what I used mostly. If you weren't already in the balance discord my god it has every guide you could ever want.

Were you doing facets? They're amazing and non-repeatable. Nearly an entire level for each one.

The game director of FFXIV straight up says "if you've run out of things to do, unsubscribe and come back later." There are no infinite grinds like other games and it's very casual friendly.

I'm subscribed and I essentially only log in one time a week for 2-4 hours. And it's fun enough that it's the only entertainment expenditure I make most months, because the rest of the games I play are f2p. When new content hits, I'll play far more for a while, then it'll peter out as I go play other games. And it's enjoyable this way.

But. I'm curious, will I need to farm white scrip gear or something? My goal is make my own HQ crafted set, but in fully upgraded 70 scrip gear, probably won't be possible.

White scrip gear is essentially budget gear. It has higher stats than unmelded crafted gear, but lower potential. To get to the super cool 2-button crafting rotation where you can craft EVERYTHING in the game on a macro, you'll need to meld a LOT of CP, other stats are barely important lol.

Depends entirely on how much money you have basically, and your ability to craft white scrip gear. I bought crafted body and farmed white scrip mainhands for the classes I care about. Scrip mainhands is fine for specialist classes, but you'll need crafted everything for the non-specialists.

DIT3: It might have been a Higurahi no whatever koro ni game, or whatever that series is called... or a fangame of it

episode 1 spoilers
You weren't really aware of whether Rena was a killer or not, it was just very heavily implied. You shouldn't take things in Higurashi at face value, though, because the point of view character is usually not perfectly reliable.

I've played a lot of visual novels and can probably name it if you remember anything else about it.

On a side note, the guy who did Higurashi just released a new visual novel like a week ago, if you're moderately interested check it out. Consensus is it's good but overpriced, but it's also part 1 of at least 4, and part 1 is ALWAYS confusing as shit.

Edit: also on a side note make sure you're looking at both the old Higurashi and PS2 Higurashi because it's possible you've played either. Sprites look massively different between the two versions, and one's voiced. The old one has a REALLY distinctive art style.

I've done that plenty of times before xd

one thing you can do that may help is make a teamcraft list of everything you need to make, and then just click the name of materials/recipes to copy the entire name to clipboard. can't make mistakes like that if you're copypasting

teamcraft in general is just super great for crafting anything in ffxiv and I'd highly recommend looking into it if you haven't yet. you input your stats and can search for community-made rotations that work with those stats, there's tons of lists for everything from zodiac stuff to leve stuff to full sets of gear for particular level ranges, you can calculate real profit fairly easily, the rotation helper tells you when you have unneeded steps (or stuff like using ingenuity 2 when 1 works fine for that recipe), etc

good thing is that at least healers don't generally have to worry about the pre-enrage bullshit damage that comes out as we've outgeared it, unless quite a few deaths happen

man that part is not fun if anything goes wrong in the few minutes before that and you have to expend resources out of order

there's nothing like seeing multiple sets of tumults coming up and not having enough mana to even cast succor

wow classic was the last trick they had up their sleeve that will definitely attract people back, they don't have anything NEARLY as tantalizing

bfa is terrible right now and the only reason legion was amazing was because they spent double the time on it due to abandoning ship during WoD to work on it... so the only way next expansion will probably be good is if its years off

hearthstone in particular is going to take massive hits from this debacle that won't recover easily, hots is dead, sc2 has had nothing interesting and new going for it for half a decade, diablo is literally a laughing stock

back on the xiv front: we had one wipe all night lol https://www.fflogs.com/reports/QzFkV3hGRJpa1cYC

fights are super forgiving when you're geared

only reason we died in e2s was because we were trying a meme strat where the tank stands closer than usual (healer flare SW, dps flare + party E, tank NW but in melee range of boss. died by a few thousand HP first time because we didnt really change anything, used more mitigation 2nd time and lived with like 60k
