True, I do plan to invest although I'm not big in investing right now. I'm not a hardcore conservative by any means. And as much as I would enjoy the extra couple thousand, theres no way I could vote for Trump. You have to be an idiot to not realize he's crippling this country with pretty much every move he makes.

My problem is that the republican party is led by clowns.

I do believe Democrats create jobs and its overall better for the economy. But whats also important is how much money I'm giving up in taxes every year. If republicans can lower the taxes in my bracket and it results in an extra 10 grand in my pocket every year, then why wouldn't I vote for them. Thats alot of money.

They're not going to. The majority of their tax deductions go to the very wealthy. You'll get a grand or two from Republican tax cuts at best at the expense of a failing economy. You'll lose more off the stock market drop than you'll gain from the tax cuts.

Once I'm done with my fellowship, my household income will be ~400k...even a difference of 2% is thousands of dollars.

FYI, historically the economy has been better under Democrats so the fiscally conservative thing is kinda bunk.

Only thing is that the new age Democrats with the much stronger policies are untested.

Maybe I should change that to *good conservatives.

Where are they, then?

I dunno, I guess I haven't looked into it hard enough to discover any good ones. I did like McCain alot, I woulda voted for him. I also liked the original Joe Scarborough, he started off as a republican. I'm also a Kasich fan, in the debates in 2016, I thought he was the most level headed with the best ideas. If I had to vote for anyone NOW, it'd probably be him, but he doesn't have the personality to do it. Romney also isn't terrible. I like Amash as well.

To be honest, any republican who opposes Trump has to have some baseline good in them.

Where are the true conservatives, in your estimation?

Maybe I should change that to *good conservatives. But just to start, moscow mitch is basically committing treason by the fact that he blocks election security measures knowing full well that Russia is interfering in the election. Elections are the essence of democracy and the foundation of this country, and McConnell absolutely doesn't give a shit.

If I had to rank issues that are important to me, it'd be:
1. Domestic Economy (I'm conservative)
2. Healthcare (I'm liberal)
...wide margin...
3. Social Security(I'm conservative)
4. Education (I'm liberal)
5. National Security(I'm conservative)
6. Foreign Policy (I'm liberal)

Somewhere below is Gun control, Civil Rights, and Environment, for which I'm liberal. But those are significantly less important to me than the above issues to the point where I dont even factor it in.

I'm anti nazi so thats what makes it hard to vote for this current republican party. And any local or state elected officials are all puppets of Trump and McConnell, neither of whom are true conservative and are simply looking out for their own self interests.

TopicCalifornia looking to ban school suspensions

This is why I will spend extra money to put my kids in a top notch public school or private school in california. These are problems that mostly below average schools face tbh. At even average or above average schools, most kids listen to their teachers and the disruptive ones are dealt with. At excellent schools, none of this is even remotely a problem.

I dont have sympathy for bad kids, I think they should be punished, everyone has a choice to act like a dumbass or not. I'm all for suspensions to keep the classroom running smoothly. But I do think if they are going to spend money on anything, it should be counselors/psychologists to rehabilitate these troubled kids. I think theres a minority of bad kids who are not salvageable. I think most kids can be 'saved' with the right approach. And thats not going to happen with a teacher, and clearly not a parent because the parent has already failed them at that point. What I would do is force the kid to spend 1 hour at counseling. Not afterschool, not before school, it'd replace one of his classes. Over the course of a quarter or trimester or whatever, I think they'll start to open up and I think thats how their problems will be addressed.

I mean lets be real, its the same story with most bad kids. They have life problems that they are not able to deal with appropriately. Perhaps theres an abusive parent, neglecting parents, divorce, troubled friends, depression, etc. They act out because they are unable to understand the effect of these things. I think a psychologist can go a long way towards addressing that and getting them on the right path.

Because I just dont want any snakes. I dont get rodents. The most I get is frogs and they eat the bugs, so I'm cool with frogs.

Ive had 3 snake encounters in the last 3 weeks. All around me is new construction and develoment, they are ripping up the dirt and it's causing a massive migration of bugs and critters and even snakes.

I'm pretty sure all 3 are garter snakes. We have alot of frogs and I'm pretty sure they are the bait, but I dont want any snakes in my yard.

I used Dr. T's Snake-Away stuff which is mostly sulfur, all over my backyard. I think it works. Havent tried it in the front since I ran out of the stuff, and I just saw one today in the front.

Every method has mixed reviews, but I'm hearing from alot of people that sulfur works? Need help.

I have a dog so I completely understand what you're going through.

We got a puppy last year, I was waking up twice a night to take him out (15 min process). The difference is, with a dog, you just take him out, he pees and poops, frequently will have indoor accidents that I clean up, then he goes back to his bed and thats it. Maybe some whimpering but not much. With a baby, theres diapers (2-3 min), feeding (30-40 minutes), cradling him to sleep (60 min). The whole process is honestly about 2 hours and its unpredictable. Sometimes he'll fall asleep right away. Last night we went to bed at 9 after feeding, he fell asleep for 40 minutes then woke up at about 10 and would not sleep again til 2am. I was walking him back and fourth and kept trying to put him down and he'd go ham. But after 2, he stayed asleep til 7.

- I felt a little depressed after our second was born because like you I felt like everything else i wanted to do would be held back for years to come. Its partially true, but on the other hand when kids are a bit older like 4 or 5 you'll have endless amounts of fun taking them to places that will blow their mind. Even something like a simple fair.

I sorta feel that...the other day I saw a friend of mine solo travel to greece. I was just thinking bout how much fun it'd be to solo travel to Europe. Even when I travel with my wife, I have to accomodate alot of things she wants which means she's picky on where we stay, what we eat, how much we travel by foot, etc.

Getting a full night of sleep is literally impossible. Gotta wake up every 3 hours or so to feed, change diapers, and sooth him back to sleep. My wife feeds him, and I gotta change diapers and put him to sleep. Sometimes it can take an hour of just walking back and forth cradling him until he falls asleep.

Working out is hard because I can't get a full night sleep, only fragmented a few hours at a time, and that zaps my energy throughout the day...not to mention working 60 hours a week is pretty draining.

Ive always wanted to travel with my wife, to places like europe, south america, and more. Cant do any of that any time soon. Infact if we do go, it'll be when the kids are a bit older and they go with us, and at that point, I'm worry about the kids half the time, so its not nearly as enjoyable.

Havent had sex in a long time.

Havent had any time to do anything I enjoy like video games, or just kicking back and watching a movie I want. I barely have time for required stuff like sitting down and studying. I gotta squeeze it in when I can.

For a mother its a full time job, as a father its equivalent to a part time job.

But at the end of the day, there are different types of people. Some who hear this and say No thanks, and want to enjoy their own life with freedom without any responsibility. And others who hear this and say, its all worth it. I'm the latter, I'm definitely more of a home-body / family man than a party guy.

I just can't wait until he's older to the point where I can be his friend...like we play video games together, play sports outside, watergun fights, build a tree house, work on the yard, etc.

I have lived on the east cost, West coast, southwest, and southeast....for multiple years each, I can tell you they are all trash compared to Cali.

People have a huge misconception about Cali that all it is is bay area and LA. Theres alot of cheap but still nice areas to live that's in proximity to plenty of things to do. Outsiders only think of San Francisco when talking about Cali.

Economically I am for low taxes and less social programs. I fully support effective social programs, but most are inefficient and a waste of money. I'm also for less military spending - for the same reason as social programs. Its not that I dont want a strong military, its that our taxmoney is simply being wasted by corrupt military contracts.

But unlike libertarians, I don't want deregulations of business. I'm all for government stepping in to regulate big business and protect the consumer.

And unlike republicans, I don't want to get cucked by russia, and I'm also not racist so theres that.
