I watched the first 2 episodes of Ascendance of a Bookworm,

This show is solid so far, but I feel I would like it more if I didn't have to constantly contemplate the possibility that this peasant family might be forced to discover that their daughter's body has been taken over by a fully grown adult from another, much more technologically advanced world.

Ok caught up on this topic. Some comments on stuff I didn't already mention:

I didn't really like the Aquarion Evol OP at first but yeah the last 20 seconds are great.

I prefer the S1 Kimi ni Todoke OP. That being said I think that technically did not air in this decade and this one is also great anyways. (also a similar-ish style)

I never liked the Terror in Resonance OP. I don't like the song much in a vacuum and the ephemeral nature of the song makes it hard to get me interested in anything about the show itself.

I've seen the Dimension W OP before this (not the show though), but I'm a fan. I really like the song also actually--it's got a nice groove that sounds high-energy and laid-back at the same time while somehow being good at both styles. Visuals are also great obviously.

Blast of Tempest another popular OP that never agreed with me. The song style is not one I'm a huge fan of and this particular example sounds too cheesy to me. The anime is amazing though.

Kids on the Slope on the other hand has always been a favorite of mine. The ending trumpet is pretty much divine but I love everything about the OP. The ED is really cool also though obviously not what's being ranked here. (Really the show just as fantastic music in general, unsurprisingly.)

Definitely not the SAO OP I would have gone for. In fairness though, this one itself is probably also good enough for a top 100 list I would make--I just love Crossing Field too much.

Yeah I would not say villains are really a strong suit of the Trails series. (And SC might be the game where that's most noticeable despite some of the villains individually being good characters.)

They do have good villains sometimes but it is sort of hit or miss.

I recommend starting with Trails in the Sky because they are better games imo, in addition to it being the most sensible starting place from a lore standpoint anyway.

If you wanted though, you could start with Cold Steel and still understand what's going on without any trouble. There's some parts particularly once you get to Cold Steel 3 which won't have the same emotional impact, but I don't think it's as prevalent as a lot of fans would lead you to believe.

This is the last I plan to say here but a lot of them aren't made with that stuff in mind from a writing standpoint, but then it was thrown in anyway as an afterthought because at the time the industry thought it was needed to get the game to sell.

(I don't know if that actually describes Baldr, but I have heard it about Fate, for example)

My understanding is that this is in the same vein as Muv Luv or Fate/Stay Night in that there are H scenes (presumably censored for a Steam release) but it isn't really the main point.

I feel like the ones trying to smear LotM without actually trying to engage the arguments he's making against M4A are the ones arguing in bad faith here.

LotM is claiming that M4A, if improperly implemented, won't have the desired outcome and will end up bad for everyone, and you guys are responding by saying that the desired outcome is good (which I don't think anyone is disputing?) and so therefore LotM must be wrong.

Now from my standpoint this points to an argument to make sure that M4A is properly implemented rather than an argument against the philosophy of the policy itself, but yeah.

I don't think Mitch is necessarily bad at the long game. I think he's correctly made the calculation that the Republican ideology is inherently doomed in the long game unless he can perform well enough in the short-term to sufficiently warp the system such that they can't be removed from power.

Strangely I actually think I'm more excited for Hajimari no Kiseki than I am for Cold Steel 4. The format seems interesting to me and also this seems like a good way to give the series a fresh start after it's been bogged down in the Cold Steel games for so long.

Major Ao spoilers She doesn't directly appear, but she's the being KeA was modeled after, I guess?

I don't remember the details of how the powers worked, but the Demiourgos was a sentient being and the Sept-Terrion of Mirage who was using her(?) powers to help people, but eventually ended up taking her own life. The loss of Demiourgos led the Crois clan down the path of creating KeA as a replacement. The exact details of what happened I don't think are really known, since the only time I remember this being talked about at length is a conversation between Lloyd and Zeit right near the start of the final chapter

I always thought the Grandmaster was supposed to be the Demiourgos, the Sept-Terrion of Mirage that disappeared. But that's just a theory based off of the crossbell games.

I...sort of agree? I don't exactly think it's bad, but I do have issues with it that I don't think showed up in any of the other games so much.

Basically the Curse plotline is not particularly compelling to me so far, and the actions taken by the villains to get there feel sort of pointless to me as of now? It might work better after having played CS4 but that's how I feel now.

Game still shines for its characters though.

Ok on second read the way I phrased this post is stupid.

Main point I'm trying to get across here is that I believe party considerations should not matter for impeachment, and that individual electoral considerations at best should be considered as equally important to ethical or constitutional considerations.

I think the implication is that impeachment is not an issue for which individual senators should be basing their votes on the collective decisions of their political party, as is suggested by your description of them "sticking together", etc.

I think that's a sentiment I would agree with also, though I haven't thought especially deeply about what the implications of this question are.

This is...probably going to be another year where I don't participate? Oh well. The only new show I'm particularly passionate about from the ones I saw was The Promised Neverland anyway.
