I'm honestly a bit surprised that Berine and Biden are around similar numbers for deserters for each other because I just assumed you'd see better numbers for Bernie there than Biden in terms of retention. Trump tried first for Kasich and then went Pence instead of going for someone like Carson, and it was the right pick for him imo.

Candidates like this are already outsiders and don't need more outsider cred. What it would do is placate the establishment wing of the party which would likely throw a hissy fit if the ticket was Sanders/Yang. Hillary has too much failed candidate (and other) baggage to be a "good" VP pick, but Yang is straight up a bad one.

Someone like Warren might be a good middle ground as she does a decent job not angering any one in either lane too much.

Not really a part of this but seeing the topic title reminded me that I wanted to play Edith Finch

Played through it last night while my wife watched. When the deer knocked Sam off the cliff, she gasped and had to take a break to drink some tea.

I watched a video that made the case that Edie Finch is the villain of the story. She initially uses the curse as an excuse for deaths that were caused by negligence (Molly poisoning herself, Calvin going over the cliff from him swing), and she revels in the curse and the attention it brings (the comic book, the tabloid article about the moleman, the fact that all the bedrooms are kept as death shrines). Her obsession with the curse and her fantastical tales of death cause issues with recklessness (Sam) and disillusionment with reality (Milton, Lewis).

I totally agree with the theory and that was the assumption I had particularly after that final scene with Edie and Edith's mom when she's trying to get Edith out of the house.

I mean obviously it is a matter of personal opinion, but if I want cheap, easy fried chicken there are a couple of supermarket chains around here that do a good job. However, for a spicy chicken sandwich (which is my go to fast food order) Chik Fil A is definitely superior to other options imo.

Again, I'm not even saying CEPR was wrong here because honestly I'm not a good enough statistician to check their data. Just be careful in equating CEPR with OAS because one is better than the other in terms of being unbiased.

The dispute was Pete has been bought by the pharma companies which I disagreed with because my belief was Pete is an opportunist that sees an opening in the middle and doesnt have integrity of ideas.

I didnt disagree that he changed positions, just the reason for doing so was less conspiratorial and more opportunist. I dunno if that was with you or not but I was definitely debating that with someone!

Also if you go into the data from the Emerson poll, you find a couple of interesting things:

1) This is the highest support for impeachment amongst republicans in ever I think: 22 yes 71 no

2) This is the lowest support amongst democrats also in forever: 69 yes 19 no

Majority of polls have them hovering at 10% r and 80% dem. So republicans definitely arent the problem in this poll!

It shows him leading among independents, so it isnt that conservatives were oversampled.

A couple of other things though:
1) The first poll the article references is approval of impeach and remove which is a different thing and always polls much lower.
2) the Emerson poll shows some other weird outliers, including the fact that Bernie is tied nationally with Biden at 27% when every other poll shows it quite different.

It absolutely could be the start of a trend but Id need to see more polls (for both things) before I was confident either way.

Sinema and Manchin I would say are very possible. Tester might if he knows that it's impossible to go through and his voter base demands it, but I am not sure he really cares.

Have to remember that it doesn't really matter too much if they can't get it through. Then they mostly just have to deal with re-elections.

Tester is likely safe to vote yes. He was Trumps number one target in 2018 and Tester still won easy. Tester is surprisingly liberal but still super popular and has been pretty vocally anti Trump.

I do agree that I could see Sinema voting to acquit though.

Buttigieg somehow has a poll showing him up 10 in New Hampshire which is just gross. Biden continues to lead nationally while Warren slips. And Trump leads all democrats in Wisconsin in the newest Marquette poll (except...Booker?).

There has been an undeniable clear trend towards Buttigieg in both Iowa and New Hampshire now. If Warren loses those two, she's done. I'm not sure she picks up a single state if she drops both of those.
