lmao it's not addictive. I vaped it every single day with intent to get high for an entire year and quit cold turkey when my gf decided to get clean for a new job. Still clean to save up money and haven't used in 4 months. No adverse affects at all and no difficulty other than what you'd expect from quitting a recreational activity you like to do to relax after work. I've had worse hangs up after having to quit playing video games for a while.

Not saying you cannot get addicted to weed, but weed in of itself is not addictive. A faithful and responsible coffee drinker would have a harder time quitting their drug than a faithful and responsible weed smoker.

One could argue that you taking care of them being seen as a problem in of itself illustrates your lack of love for your parents.

We're social creatures that thrive from having access to varying networks that care about us in varying degrees. One's family should, ideally, be one of the most nurturing, sympathetic, and affectionate networks one has. I would personally expect the attitude you're displaying to be reflected from someone who did not grow up in a good house hold with nurturing parents. If they gave you what you needed to not only survive, but thrive, then honestly you're an asshole to want to have nothing to do with them in their last stage of their lives.

I know you said you've already tried I can't stress how much routine exercise helps mental health. We are not meant to be sedentary animals. You may find that consistent exercise will better your overall mood, energy levels, and reduce internal chatter. Best of all, it's monetarily free, just go jogging outside for 30 minutes. I promise you it gets easier as you build momentum. If you run as little as 3x a week for a month, you'll not want to break your streak and keep it up.

Good luck on whatever you do to try to better yourself.

Rural housing costs might be cheap, but please remember the hidden costs.

You need to drive 25 or 30 miles in many cases just to buy groceries. And you're only option is a dollar general. You may live an hour away from a doctor should you get sick or need a checkup. There's no mass transit or public service. The fire departments are volunteer and my be far away. Police coverage is spotty too. Due to low population, even service jobs can be at a premium given fast food, pharmacies, and gas stations are not on every corner.

As somebody who grew up in rural Appalachia, I've seen rural poverty. It might be in the hollows, creek bottoms, hills, trailers, and shanties, but it is just as isolating, soul crushing, and dehumanizing as urban poverty. Instead of public housing, it's 30 miles from a grocery store, up a creek valley, behind rusted out pickup trucks, and in a trailer covered in coal soot. Or its in a farmstead proudly built 4 generations ago, but now has peeling lead paint, rotting floorboards, on a farm reclaimed by nature.

Poverty is a scourge regardless of where it is happening. Rural and urban poverty are the same sickness with slightly different symptoms.

That's just not true. And this is coming from someone who loves cooking.

Okay, maybe if we're talking best case scenario. If you already happen to have premade patties and toppings ready to go in your fridge, you might be able to cook and assemble a burger in the amount of time it takes someone to run to a fast food joint and back. But people typically don't just happen to have these things available unless you prepare ahead of time. The people who are obsessed with fast food don't like to prepare, they just want their food available to them with minimal effort. The spontaneous, quickness and easiness ties into the fast food addiction as much as the food itself.

Yeah but if you go grocery shopping you should have your ingredients already in the fridge and if you already have an idea of what to make, it can be just as quick as fast food with minimal effort.

Here's a week of easy as fuck grocery shopping for the talentless cook that wants quick meals:

-buy bread: sandwich bread, hotdog buns, hamburger buns
-buy a pack of boneless skinless chicken thighs
-buy preformed patties of ground meat of your choice
-buy bratwursts or any other kind of hearty sausages
-buy one or two seasoning shakers of different flavors (ie: mccormick grill mates)
-let's assume you have condiments and sauces of your choice
-let's assume you have basic seasoning such as salt pepper
-let's assume you have basic cooking fats like butter OR olive oil OR canola oil, etc
-buy premixed spring salad/spinach or veggies of your choice. you can even buy frozen mixed veg

Pick your protein. If a sausage, slap it on the grill or pan with oil, brown it, and eat with hotdog buns. Eat with veggies.

If the chicken or patties, season however you like, throw it on the grill or pan with oil and cook through. Throw on bread. Eat with veggies.

If you buy a small rice cooker and a 3lb bag of rice you suddenly have a staple carb that can be used as a main carb in all your meals.

If you buy a baking sheet buy some premade biscuits or crescent rolls and throw em in the oven and suddenly you have variety in carbs.

You end up with such little dishes that these easy meals are brain dead easy and hard to fuck up and honestly take such little time to make. If you're too lazy to make one, have a frozen pizza in the freezer and limit yourself to one pizza dinner a week to buffer in between cooking. Make a lot of food so you have left overs to eat for lunch. And eat simple breakfasts like oatmeal, cereal, or eggs and toast.... make extra eggs when you do make eggs and pack with rice and cut up sausages for lunches.

it isn't until you're making more involved dishes that fast food should be considered a more appealing option but if you're lazy then there is easy ways for the lazy person to cook and for much cheaper than fast food.

Do you know how to cook? The easiest way is just cutting it all out and limiting it to like once a week. Once you've successfully built momentum it gets easier trust me.

How much do you spend on food every two weeks? Figure that out and then spend the exact same amount of money on groceries and make your own breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Figure out how to live off those groceries for the full two weeks and only allow yourself to eat twice maximum. You may find you probably can survive off that food in two weeks with a lot of food left over that maybe can last a third week... your wallet/bank account will thank you, and fast food will taste 4x as tasty when you finally have it.

There aren't any Harvest Moon games on Switch yet. It's important to paint a distinction here: current Harvest Moon games are Harvest Moon in name only. The games are developed by Marvelous in Japan, but were published in North America by Natsume under the name Harvest Moon. Due to publisher changes, the series now goes by Story of Seasons. Natsume owns the name Harvest Moon, and they still produce titles under it. Know that they are vastly inferior products.

Anyways, there are a couple of Story of Season games on 3DS: Story of Seasons, and Trio of Towns. The friends of Mineral Town remake is scheduled for release on Switch, but I don't know when.

Yes and no. Never played the 3DS one, so I am excited to play one after a long time. I'm just not sure if the setting change is going to be appealing long term or not. Also, the crafting part seems like it could end up nightmarish if certain materials are super grindy. Bells could be pretty bad, but you could at least farm them in a multitude of ways.

Oh MAAAAN New Leaf was awesome and a dramatic big leap in features from Wild World/City Folk. If New Horizons is anywhere near as inventive as New Leaf was, I think you're in for a treat.
